Mastiff sized boots!

Hi mastiff-fam! We live in Alberta Canada so it gets cold here. I decided on picking up some foot protection for Benjamin so we can extend our walks a little bit and wanted to share that Muttluks fit him perfectly. They make lots of different styles and in these pictures Ben is wearing the fleece lined Muttluks with a leather sole. The size XL is perfect for him and they even make an XXL for the bigger dogs. I scored these second hand on Poshmark and they're so far the best $20 I've ever spent haha. Hopefully this helps someone else realize they'll fit!! Happy New Year!

Tatertot, perfectly deep fried (20 months)

Almost done growing but still just a little guy in his heart.

Tatertot has renal hypoplasia and is in IRIS stage 2 kidney disease but he is maintaining good function and very slow decline based on labs, which is all we can ask for with this condition.

How often do you clean (with soap and water) your dogs water dish? I do at least once daily because of the industrial strength lubricant drool settled at the bottom. Curious if others do same, more often or rarely?

Advice needed

Post image

Hiya everyone, I rescued this beautiful girl back in April, she's now on hopefully her 3rd and final home at such a young age of 2. She was unfortunately bred during her first heat cycle and I'm sure any other big dog owners know how damaging that can be on a growing body. This unfortunately has left her with some hip issues, I've taken her to my vet and we've also agreed she will need surgery on her eyes due to entropion. On top of her usual stiffness she's also developed an issue with her hind right leg. For this surgery and x-rays they're estimating £2.5k, I tried taking her to the pdsa (due to being eligible) but they were unfortunately less than helpful, I've also been bouncing around between insurance companies and haven't insured her due to being concerned that they will write it of as a pre-existing condition. Does anyone in the UK? Have any advice on insurance companies and to handle this? I am concerned she may need TPLO on her back left leg which will also add another £5k to this. This is at my local vet hospital where she is on the health scheme which should give her 20% off, I also don't drive and live in London so transport has been less than ideal due to her limited mobility at the moment.

I'm happy to answer any questions but any advice would be appreciated, I am not asking for money.

Edit-after a very helpful commenter pointed out the importance of insurance I'm going to see if I can go through petgevity.

Many thanks

This community was so lovely and kind when we lost our 11 year old mastiff Tiberius earlier this summer. We just added a new girl to our family, Elizabeth Taylor, called Betty. We’re in love and she helping with the ache of the loss (not a replacement—impossible—but as a new family member).

Mastiff Puppy accessories?

We are bringing home our first Mastiff baby in the middle of November. I am wanting to crate train for the first year of her life, then we will move her to the bed. But it’s mainly for potty training purposes and her having a safe place if she needs.
That being said, I’m having the hardest time finding a crate/kennel that will fit her according to dimensions. Not to mention reviews are all over the place.
Can someone tell me what they use for there kennel? Brand, size, all that. I’m hoping it’s the furniture type where it’s not such an eye sore and still functional for day to day life rather than just a kennel.

Also if anyone would like to give any advice for us I am all ears. We’ve always had big dogs (Great Danes) and Doxies lol so this will be our first big dog with lots of mass.

Thank you to anyone who is willing to help!

My wife and decided to replace our Dane/Mastiff that we lost in January with a new puppy this winter. We put a deposit down on a puppy from a reputable breeder. Well momma gave birth last night to two boys. My wife and I decided we will take them both. Anyone ever raise litter mates together?

Any advice or words of wisdom. We have had plenty of dogs in our lifetime and a couple of Mastiff Mix breeds as well as a Fila. Never litter mates though.
We have 4 kids as well from 3-13. less

Baby Rogue is becoming a woman

Rogue is going through her first heat. She's only 9.5 months. Everything I'm seeing says a female mastiff's first heat is usually 12 to 18 months. Also, since she is so early, how would the affect the best timing for her spay? I see a lot of conflicting advice. Some people say after two heats some say 2 years.

What are y'all using for a doggy door? Our Maggie loves to be in/outside. Standard, in screen doggy doors are way too small.

Dog tax attached!

Our sweet, sweet baby, Iffy, has cancer in her leg bone. Has anybody else dealt with this? How did you treat it? How did it go?

She's 7 years old and very healthy in every other way.

Everything at the vet costs more when the patient is a mastiff, sorting insurance before he's grown

hes 6 months and already needs 2 techs and the big table for a simple visit. every quote ive pulled rn for a giant breed is higher than i expected, which makes sense. comparing fetch pet, nationwide, pumpkin and manypets. for a dog this size do you go low deductible or high reimbursement??
