Peter has chosen to do small potaoes, mobsters, robberies, small street level crimes.
If he actually wanted to join the Avengers and do big potatoes, they would absolutely welcome him in

Just remember the ring happy carried pickling next to his left butt cheek for a decade… They wanted to definitely.

Well to be fair, in Infinity War Spider-Man was an Avenger. But Yelena only became an Avenger at the end of Thunderbolts, with Spider-Man no longer being an active member of the Avengers

Another day of people either pretending or being too stupid to realize she's talking about what each of them deals with currently, Peter is a friendlyNEIGHBORHOOD Spider-Man, he chooses to handle small potatoes while Yelena and her team look into big stuff

To be fair. When Spiderman tries to handlte the big potato stuff, it usually ends terribly for him.
-
Fought Thanos->Ended up being reduced to dust.
-
Inherited Iron Mans planetary security system->Mysterio ruined his life by revealing his secret identity and making him public enemy #1.
-
Got involved with Doctor strange and a multiversal incursion-> His aunt died and he was erased from everyones memory.
-
Fought Jean Grey->Ended up in the hospital, almost dying.
So yeah, maybe he should try to stick to small potato stuff for his own sake.

The biggest appeal about Spiderman is that he's always punching above his weight.

Ik we're in the meme sub, but people who legit think Yelena is out of line for saying that are missing the point entirely. Spider-Man chose to be the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man right now, while Yelena and the New Avengers are tasked to handle Avengers level threats. She never said Peter is incapable of handling Avengers level threats.

My theory is that Yelena said that as an excuse, she just didn’t feel like getting out of the tub

I think people misunderstand the critique of that scene. It’s not that Spider-Man’s threats are small, they generally are when in New York.
The critique is that the New Avengers are genuinely incapable of anything. They won against Void/Bob on a technicality because they and more specifically Yelena was friends with him. Her line comes across as pretentious. Place them against any Avengers scenario. Loki, Ultron, Thanos.

If you actually watched Thunderbolts, you would know that the big potatoes was The Void.

I feel like her whole “Small potato thing” is because no one probably remembers that Spider-Man was part of the Endgame events. Either that, or she undermines him as much as everyone else.

She’s criticizing and manipulating him. He wants to just be “your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.” She’s saying, “Yo, dude, you want to keep it small and simple? Fine, keep it small and simple. You can’t have it both ways.”

Yelena knows about that.
All she is saying is that the avengers should handle big stuff, since Spider-Man chooses to handle small stuff.
