Stuttering while trying to play games or watch youtube.
Hey y'all,
I just recently installed Linux on my 2013 Toshiba Satellite S855D (PSKG2U-028005) with an AMD A10-4600M APU with Radeon HD. I'm new to Linux. While using the HDMI output with the lid closed and the screen off to watch YouTube or play games, the applications ( Firefox, Kerbal Space Program) start stuttering. I was previously able to use these applications while on Windows 8. Does anyone have any advice they could share? I've tried adjusting the refresh rate. The drivers are current. I am using Mint Cinnamon.

I will say, I used Linux Mint for 3 years and often had this happen. Not sure if it’s the old X11 system it uses, or the cinnamon desktop itself.
So I moved to Fedora KDE Plasma and I have no issues. Other great options that get you away from this problem are Bazzite, Nobara, CachyOS, Kubuntu, MX Linux
Lookup how to use Wayland on Linux Mint and see if that fixes it, first.
