Question Durability

I've seen some ads showing people absolutely abusing the hell out of sabers, like bending them nearly into a U shape, or bashing them hard against trees or metal poles.

I know polycarbonate is tough, but I am afraid of breaking something I paid $200 for. Can these really stand up to hard impacts like that?

Don't trust advertisements to be honest about durability

I don't trust them LOL. That's why I asked for some actual real person experience.

I've got my rgb tubes pretty hard against things. The most I've seen is surface scratches. I really haven't abused my pixel blades in the same way tho, other than light to medium contact.

I have a Disney blade which got pinched in shipping. There's a decent sized pinch in the tube. Other than that the blade is fine.

Hope these first hand observations helps!

Whether how true those videos are, I still wouldnt be doing that to my blades. Where i stand mine up, one accidentally slid behind the dresser and was putting weight against the blade bending it a little. Got worried it was going to stay bent but went back to its original shape. So theyre flexible, but i dont have the money to be testing out how flexible they are.

If youre going to be dueling rgb is the way to go since the blades are cheaper to replace. Neopixel, you can always damage either the other or also the leds inside. In other words, do it at your own risk if youre dueling with neopixel.

There are 2 types of blades+hilts: baselit RGB and pixel.

Baselit blades are hollow, it's essentially trapping light from a torchlight (the hilt). They come in various diameters (commonly 1 inch and 7/8 inch) and inner wall thickness (generally 2mm, heavy grade is 3mm). The thicker the inner wall, the harder it is to physically destroy. These are also generally a lot cheaper to replace, so they are recommended for heavy dueling. You must accept that if you are heavy dueling consistently, 2mm blades will last 6-12 months and should be treated as a consumable. Light dueling or performance use, they will last practically forever.

Pixel: Same blade as above, but now with internal LED strip for sequential lighting/effects, and also a pin connector at the base. The blade itself is just as hard to destroy, but the weak points are the LED strip and the base connector. Those can be damaged even if the blade itself is perfectly fine. These are a lot more expensive to replace, so they are recommended for performance or light dueling only.

So if you want to duel, get a baselit RGB. If it's for show, get a pixel.

That is so bogus. With AI they will be putting the lightsaber on a Tesla rocket and have astronauts on a spacewalk igniting it in space. No normal person is abusing them like they do in the commercials.
