❔ Question how do you guys keep up to date ?

• Upvotes

there are so many games coming out. i know there is steam database, but now they are copying games, vibe-coding, etc. my worse nightmare: i will end up featuring a game that was stolen from an indie dev by a vibe-codder because i was unaware about the original game. never mind i'd really like not to install malware in my system. do you have any systems/sources/methods to keep informed or navigate this mess at a relatively low time cost ? ty!

❔ Question RE: "Is it ok to use other people’s gameplay videos in your video?"

What is the actual copyright issue for using someone else's gameplay recording? Many years ago, it was controversial to even upload footage of a developer's game without permission, with some companies even going so far as to sue for using it. Now we have people seriously defending the copyright of other people's gameplay footage. It's like people have no real thought around their opinions, they just base them on what they want. You want to sit in your rooms all day recording footage of you playing video games and you want to get paid for it. The people that actually MADE the game, assets, story, music, shouldn't have any rights to take down footage of their game because it's "constructive" (even non-commentary channels, apparently), but your footage is copyrighted & can't be used without permission or heaven help me, licensing fees? Those among you that argue for this position must've never done a real day's work in your life. Taking a 10 second video clip from some random person of a game they didn't make, using software they may not have even paid for, with zero input from the "creator", should be completely 100% fair. But unfortunately we have a bunch of unironic loser neckbeards that want to get paid for playing video games.

We are not talking about a scripted, highly edited, well thought out 2+ hour piece of art like an Arlo review, a typical game review like SomecallmeJohnny, 40+ minute destiny takedown monologue by IHE, or an animation that you spent days, hundreds of actual man hours creating. We are talking about a bunch of brainrot addled losers thinking that pushing the button and watching a game cutscene constitutes "work".

Naw, I'm done.

🤔 Advice How do you learn live FX performance? Looking for creators to study, too.

I'm working toward a live FX direction style for my gaming content and content in general. My goal is to make my content feel like a live performance, with humor, reactions, vocal FX, sound, and motion design happening in the moment rather than relying on heavy post production.

I respect heavily edited content, but that style doesn't come naturally to me. I prefer creating assets and directing things on the fly, and hyper-edited content isn't the direction I want to pursue.

I've already built my own FX library and have the equipment and systems in place to execute my ideas. My struggle is learning to recognize moments worth enhancing, choosing and remembering to use the right fx. (Ofc while keeping it smooth. Which I presume would just come more with time and practice).

I'm looking for advice on where to start and building that mental muscle.

Any recommendations of creators that have similar styles would also help. The Call of Duty DJ. Is the only creator that comes to mind. As someone who uses such a high volume of things in such quick succession and smoothly.

Feel free to ask me any clarifying questions.

🗨️ Discussion How do You Do Top 10/Ranking/List Videos

I've been thinking about doing videos in the Top 10 format. Example: Big games with underwhelming final bosses. Do you have to play the games that you plan on listing or do you take videos from other videos and credit them?

It will be the 1st time I do a video with a script, and I know if I play the games, it will help give my personality and my own perspective, plus my own gameplay. But at the same time, playing several games could take a while, without counting the proper editing of the video. What do you think would be better.
