I do find it interesting that the Coen brothers, directors that are usually so thorough and highly detailed, have a total lapse showing clips of the ocean in totally different conditions during the eulogy scene.

When the scene opens, the ocean conditions are very clean, the wind almost looks offshore. By the time Theodore Donald Kerabatsos‘ ashes are committed to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, the ocean is choppy with whitecaps and the wind has switched to howling onshore. Just an inconsistency I spotted as an ocean lover.

So... I went to the CT Renaissance Faire this past weekend for their Halloween Theme weekend. It was a blast, with fire jousting and all the great people to share some time with messing around. The best part about this weekend is you can wear pretty much anything. I decided to wear my "The Dude Lebowski (Rebel Pilot Edition). It was a blast going around playing "The Dude" for everyone, and the true fans that could recognize me got a free key ring I printed. A mellow time, passing along the good word of "The Dude"... "The Dude Abides"!

Well… seeing as how this is an actual question, man, and not some beloved quote from the movie, I’ll lay it out for ya—how the whole darn thing got started.
Look, some days you just roll out of bed, right? You’re trying to figure out what rags to throw on for whatever gig you got going, and you just feel, like, totally in touch with your inner Dude. Now, say it’s a chilly morning out there. You’re not feeling super motivated, and frankly, you’d rather just abide in total comfort, man.
So check it out: I’m a huge Star Wars guy, right? I’ve collected a bunch of cool stuff over the last forty years—a lotta ins, a lotta outs, a lotta what-have-yous. But mostly it just sits on shelves and hangers, collecting dust. But then, man… it hit me.
The robe and the helmet finally get put to work. The pants? Total homage to Walter. The shirt is some second-hand thrifting score—a little something for Donny, rest his soul. And the whole outfit… man, it really ties the persona together, doesn't it?
I’m not just imitating the Dude here, man. I become the Dude. Like, imagine if the Dude rolled outta bed in a galaxy far, far away. He’d just slide his robe on, toss on a helmet to keep his grungy hair out of his face, light up a roach, and head down to the cantina for a Blue Milk White Russian.
Why? Because the Dude abides, man. He’s no Imperial fascist, just a guy getting by every day, being one with the Force… cause, you know, the Force is one with him, man. Takin’ it easy for all us sinners.

Last year I went to the Dude’s screening and Q&A of the Big Lebowski and bought this signed poster. I brought it home and kept it in my office but never got around to the cash machine to pay for a frame.

Well today I did, took it to the frame man, opened this up and, well, I paid $100 bones or clams or what have you for a cardboard tube. It’s a bummer man.

Tonight my wife and I went to an Oilers game in Tulsa and were both wearing our Lebowski sweaters. Back in the hotel we stopped to get some water and snacks to take to the room. The young man at the counter recognized the sweaters and mentioned the movie. I said, "I dig your style too, man." He laughed and said, "I belong to the religion," then comped our food!

Great crowd and I finally got to see my favorite movie on the big screen.

Man, just decided to show my young urban achiever Spinal Tap today and realized I have been thinking the limo driver in Lebowski was the same guy from Spinal Tap. I’ve been so uptight about this.
