youtuber recommendations

I've been trying to find more Dutch content creators that genuinely appeal to me and whom I'd watch outside of the purpose of learning Dutch, but also because I just find them interesting. Since YouTube does not have a way to filter by language, I've been struggling to even search for what I want, and for some reason the algorithm just defaults to what I assume are its clickbaity basics that work on children.

In particular I'm looking for cozy minecraft videos and in general cozy games, typical booktube type videos, and videos about journalling and travelling. Maybe evwn some comedy? like Drew or Danny. I just really cannot stand fast paced editing or yelling for retention, which seem to be the only type of videos in Dutch that YouTube wants to recommend to me.

Any comments are appreciated!

I think the issue is that virtually any Dutch person making content about video games is going to do so in English which is a much bigger market.

I like watching Emma Teubel, she's a books/hobby/cozy videos creator. Annique de Haas, she does book reviews but also travel vlogs. Not a cozy channel but Universiteit van Nederland is in my opinion a good channel for learning new words. From off those I usually see another video that interests me and then it's possible to find all kinds of nice creators.

Make a subaccount under your current YouTube account. This will give you a fresh new algorithm. You can force this algorithm into Dutch mode by setting as many settings as possible to Dutch/Netherlands, such as the app language, your place of residence, and preferred language for content. It's also advisable to use a VPN. And remember to search for content in Dutch. Happy viewing!

For the journaling side, CreaChick might be worth a look. She has a whole playlist of Dutch “Plan With Me” videos, plus art-journal and drawing videos. I’d sample a couple of the journal setups to see whether the pacing suits you.

You can filter twitch streams by language, there are a good amount of people live streaming games in Dutch over there.

Your other option is to make a new youtube account and train that algorithm to give you only content in Dutch.

Hi Dimdimmie,

interesting content is always better to keep us engaged and enjoying the learning process. I would have a look at this channel for instance: https://www.youtube.com/@VTMvideo/featured . It's from a television channel. Series like "Safety first" or "Wat als..." are funny, but also pretty visual to follow. There's also a bunch of dating shows, talent shows and cooking programs. But I am not really sure if that's your thing!

If this tends to be too difficult still, I am starting up a new YouTube channel Dutch All The Time with easy, comprehensible input. Here we watch cartoons, zoom in on pictures from all over the world with an interesting story behind it. There's also a couple of historical ones coming up. Any feedback of support is very welcome! Right now it's still very small, but every Monday and Wednesday new content comes out! To me it's very interesting to know what potential viewers would like to see, or what makes them keep watching (or not). Travelling content for instance, seems fun!!
