PLAYER TALK Jsut make the the sims trade already
Give up the second 2nd round pick, I can’t stand watchung looney.
How is he only 30 years old ? He can’t move at all .
He is atrocious .
I guess you have to try vando until you make a trade
So now you have looney, bronny and hardy as guys who are unplayable.
I am hoping that Carr and thiero to get healthy see if they can crack the rotation .
Luka is amazing - I live on the east coast staying up till 2am
I would prefer trading for sharpe-nets center but that doesn’t seem realistic.
They also need a wing -but cant fix everything.
If jj won’t play Vando that means 4 unplayable guys.
This is what happens when you whiff on first round picks.
If the lakers didn’t luck into a ridiculous Luka trade -this franchise would be in deep trouble

APPRECIATION LeBron fan here: My God do I miss hearing Billy Mac and Stu Lantz
You really don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. There are many aspects of the Lakers that I will miss; not getting to tune into Lakers Nation every night is one.
But not being able to hear Billy Mac and Stu doing their commentary might be the hardest to cope with. I know Lantz is now starting to take a step back as well.
Unfortunately, even the best of things can’t last forever. I will forever appreciate those two legends.

Too early to CRASH OUT, I rather recognize the progress beyond the Loss.
I'm staying off Twitter for now because I already know people are either crashing out or celebrating the loss, and honestly, I don't have the energy for that. But to be fair, this game was difficult to watch. There seemed to be a whistle on almost every possession, and the constant foul calls disrupted the flow of the game. At some point, the officiating becomes a major part of the discussion, too. I'm not saying every call was wrong, but when the game keeps stopping, it's frustrating for both the players and the fans.
That said, I don't think we should overlook the positives just because we lost. Our role players are showing that they can contribute, especially from the three-point line. Unlike before, when so much of our offense revolved around Luka, LeBron, Austin, and Rui, we're starting to see more players contribute offensively while bringing a more aggressive defensive presence. That's something worth building on. I also want to see more from Kessler before making any strong judgments about him. It's easy to make assumptions based on a few possessions, but we need to give him time to settle into the system and see how he performs consistently. We shouldn't rush to judge a player before we've seen enough of what he can bring to the team.
The one thing I really want Sexton to work on is composure. I love his energy and defensive intensity, but aggression needs to come with discipline. He has to know when to pressure the opponent, when to slow down, and when to make the simple play instead of forcing something that could lead to a turnover. As for Looney, I want to see him play with more force around the basket. I'd like him to be more active on the boards, elevate when going for rebounds, and be more decisive when finishing around the rim or receiving lobs. I know his role isn't to be an explosive offensive player, but his physical presence should make a difference in rebounding, screening, and protecting the paint.
Overall, I still see reasons to be optimistic about this team. We have players who can shoot, players who can defend, and more offensive options than before. There's still room for improvement, but one loss shouldn't erase the progress we've seen. I just want us to keep building chemistry, make smarter decisions, and learn how to close out games without relying too heavily on our stars.

POST GAME Portland had 4 days of rest and played last Friday.
Hope this had something to do with the lack of effort from our squad on defense. With all the injuries going on around the league, I don't mind our guys taking a game off since we just played Sunday, and Portland is pretty well rested. This would be the game for them to do so. Its a long season and there will be more games like this. I hope this makes some you feel better about the loss.

POST GAME Why does Damian Lillard hate the Lakers so much?
I've lost count on how many game winners he's had against us throughout his career
usually all of them step back threes
It's always Dame Time in Los Angeles

Sexton needs to slow down and play with more composure.
I love his defensive intensity and aggressiveness. He's a young bull, and I appreciate the energy he brings to the game. However, I hope he learns to be more composed and make better decisions instead of being overly aggressive, especially when it leads to unnecessary turnovers. Aggressiveness is a strength, but it needs to be controlled.
As for AR, I'm a fan of his, and I really want to see him hold the ball more and trust his own scoring ability. I know he's not the most dominant player on the team, but his efficiency speaks for itself. Sometimes, I feel like he gives up the ball too quickly, even when he has a good opportunity to score. There's a difference between being unselfish and passing up good shots. If the ball keeps ending up in a turnover after he passes, why not trust himself to make a play? I want him to stay unselfish, but also be confident enough to take responsibility for the offense when the opportunity is there.
TEAM TALK Just wanna remind y'all. Bulls start the season 5-0 last year.
W/L barely matter these times around.
Aside from some admittedly bad defense near the end, and role players gone cold in the middle, this game wasn't as egregious as some of you talk about. We're still in the start of the season and Luka and Reeves shine a lot these past games. I also really like what I've seen from Mamu being versatile on both ends of the floor.
Portland also shoot 50% from 3's. Last time that I remember when Lakers shot like that we beat the Thunder.

Thoughts on the game
Game just ended, so I'll try to be as objective as possible without crashing out.
So, game was completely unwatchable, damn refs couldn't wait to use their whistles.
I won't blame Luka and Reaves for tonight. Although, I kind of wish that Luka was a bit more assertive in the 4th. I mean sure, he had some key shots, but I wanted him brining up the ball, but besides that, he was great. Reaves was also awesome in this game, although it felt like he was frozen out at times which leads to my next point
I'm trying to give Sexton the benefit of the doubt. He didn't play in the preseason, and he missed the opener. But it felt like he had tunnel vision, and would just take the shots himself, when he really shouldn't. Like I said, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he wasn't good today. In my opinion, he lost us the momentum.
Grimes also felt like a non-factor today. None of his 3s were falling
Kessler needs to be more assertive. No layups, when there's a smaller guy. I want him dunking that shit. He also needs to work on his free throws. The two that he missed I think lost us the game
Mixed opinions on Zaire. He hit some big shots, but he had a bad foul, and some dumb mistakes later on.
I think Mamu had a solid game, really helped us with the momentum when we were down by 8.
Looney needs to be canned. He had -8 or something, in like 5 minutes. I know he's also challenged offensively, but I would rather have Vando play over him. At least he has potential defensively. I'm open to the idea of him and Mamu on the floor.
Just a weird and awful game overall. So, many questionable fouls and even more questionable technical fouls
I know doomers are about to cry about how we suck, but I think Portland is legit. They have 3 great ball handlers, which is great for the clutch
As much as I love JJ as a coach, he kind of dropped the ball today. I think he prolonged Luka's rest a bit too long, which was not ideal when Portland was making their run.
Overall, not a good showing for us today, but hey, we can't win them all and hopefully, we can bounce back tomorrow with another win.
You can also skip this part if you don't want to read, but if you do read it, answer this question for me:
Do y'all like these thoughts on the game posts? I've been enjoying it, and I always try to tackle the Lakers as objective as possible. So, should I keep continuing these?

The Kessler hype is slowly dwindling?
Idk but it seems to me that Kessler lost his aggressiveness when guarded by Clingan and Timelord. He sets good screens but can't position himself well off of them. He's back down to earth I guess.

PLAYER TALK Kevon Looney was a -8 in 5 minutes this game. Lakers lost by 7. For the season he's -29 in 30 minutes played. And he wasn't out there coincidentally when Portland went on a run. He was the reason for the run.
We should either go small ball or call up Kaluma to fill in those minutes. Because that was egregious. On both offense and defense he was fucking up. Every play. Fuck I think Vando is unplayable but compared to Looney, he might as well be Michael Jordan.

POST GAME Doesn’t change much, but that IS a goaltend
Finger on the rim before/as the ball makes contact. Just textbook miss. Who knows what it changes but shitty to miss this nonetheless.
Another one tomorrow!

LUKA MAGIC Tough L, but Luka Doncic is definitely the best in the world.

LUKA MAGIC Luka with another 40 point game. His 20th as a Laker.

GAME Reggie Miller should never call a Lakers game
Still not a fan of when we had to sit through his glazing during the Lakers and Nuggets playoff series but his clear homerism for the opposing teams make it so unbearable to watch a game on top of the Lakers also being frustrating to watch
