So “The Script” has Giannis going to the Lakers and winning 3 championships in the next 4 years with Luka? This is the only outcome that makes sense right?

189

u/RemyGee May 13 '25

Bucks get the #1 pick 5 years in a row mysteriously 😂

31

u/FaithAndSTEM May 13 '25

Where do I place bets?

31

u/Xavier050822 May 13 '25

Yes, add a Luka MVP somewhere in there for a parlay.

6

u/EvBeLu May 13 '25

This happening any of those years would 100% convince me its rigged since Bucks don't have their picks/or swapped those years.

1

u/WolfSavage May 13 '25

Los Vegas Bucks?

1

u/pizdunce May 13 '25

I could actually see dallas trading gafford + 1st pick and some other picks for giannis

30

u/ApprovesShittyPosts May 13 '25

“The Script” is actually a great nickname for Cooper Flagg 😂

I mean that wouldnt even make nba fun to watch anymore lmao

1

u/Ardzyyy May 13 '25

based on the "script," y'all will get a star but not somwhat that is expected, or at least you guys should've expected from the beginning he was drafted. that dude is paolo banchero. every magic's 1st pick always goes to the lakers.

-9

u/vmpafq May 13 '25

No, he's going to the Spurs. Lakers carry the ratings and Spurs win the chips.

Lmfaooo he's knows this shit is rigged

769

u/pmurt007 May 12 '25

It 100% is rigged. Why on earth would they not broadcast the actual draft lottery process, instead its teams sending a bunch of random reps without their phones to some backroom and from there the "lottery is determined" lol

308

u/StateGuilty4268 May 12 '25

My dad is a Timberwolves fan who has been ranting about this for years. They have the lowest win percentage ever because they were a terrible team for like 10 years straight, and the Spurs somehow always managed to get the 2% chance of drafting higher without anything being shown other than the results

159

u/Ok_Employee1964 May 13 '25

Wemby/castle/harper is crazy work. That team is getting another super star and could contend as early as next year. Castle/fox/wemby trio goes hard. They have the capital to get another all star or elite role players. Probably snag someone off the expensive Celtics.

104

u/[deleted] May 13 '25

Spurs are the favorites to land Giannis now

17

u/ucsb99 May 13 '25

I can’t believe the Kings didn’t get Castle back for Fox. Wtf lol.

4

u/burgundyernie May 13 '25

Spurs are gonna reach OKC levels in the next few seasons. They're set for at least 10 years now lol

3

u/[deleted] May 13 '25

Spurs must be their favorite play on Mexico I guess.

24

u/mangkepweng May 13 '25

Greg Popovich is actually 35 years old. He had to offer his life force to the past commissioners and now, Adam Silver, to get a better lottery placement. The last life force offer to get Wemby took a toll on him.

1

u/xoogl3 May 13 '25

Wolves are victims? 2009. Ricky Rubio. Johny Flynn.

35

u/Jensen2075 May 13 '25

Do what the NHL did. They picked the balls live on TV.

32

u/HexedCosta May 13 '25

But then they can’t handpick what teams get the picks, duh.

31

u/Hayyes May 13 '25

The video of the drawing is literally on YouTube… as it is every year

1

u/d0000n May 14 '25

You mean this one?

It seems that the draft order has been selected already.

1

u/Hayyes May 14 '25

No that’s just the presentation of the results. Can’t be bothered to find it for you but you can find the video where they pull the balls from the machine and they assign pick 1 first and go to 4, then the rest are in order of regular season record.

1

u/YoungFlexibleShawty May 13 '25

It's rigged still

0

u/chakrablocker May 13 '25

cool, what the other guy say was still ignorant

36

u/National-Stretch3979 May 13 '25

I don’t think you’re familiar with the process. The process is recorded and observed by Ernest Young - who’s entire reason for existing is trust, members of the media and representatives of the teams involved. There has never been a team accuse the NBA of cheating on the lottery and it makes zero sense that the NBA would risk being sued by every billionaire owner in the league, just to put a player on one team. They would lose all credibility and the league would be irreparably damaged losing them a thousandfold more money than putting one player on a team would never make them. Everybody has a shot and sometimes teams with low odds win you can simulate it yourself online. Anything else is just lazy thinking

17

u/Particular-Flow-5829 May 13 '25

I recommend you to google the Wirecard scandal and Ernest Young. So much for credibility. Probably the biggest economic scandal in German history. Where a lot of money is involved, there will be cheating. Doesn't matter if it's sports, a company or politics. It's like saying pharmaceutical companies are selling medicine to make people healthy. No it's not, they are in business to make as much profit as possible for their shareholders.

6

u/shoefly72 May 13 '25

Knowing they assign ball combos sequentially, such that teams with the worst records start out at 1-2-3-4 and the best records would be in the 10-11-12-13 range or whatever…having watched the entire stream just now it looks like it would be incredibly easy to try and ensure that a team with low odds moved into the top spot. They say that a timekeeper who’s looking away from the machine gives the signal for “Matt” to draw a ball, but it sure looks like he’s taking his sweet time and looking right at the balls while doing it. All he’d have to do is make sure to draw balls that clearly have two digits on them…

13

u/naive-dragon May 13 '25

This shit is entertaining but you're right, anyone who seriously thinks this is rigged is either a child or doesn't know how the world works. I would go around and circlejerk about it being rigged but I don't actually think that, there's too many moving parts and the universe has always been chaotic and random.

9

u/Circumin May 13 '25

anyone who seriously thinks this is rigged is either a child or doesn't know how the world works

So like pretty much everyone.

20

u/[deleted] May 13 '25

11

u/JackThreeFingered May 13 '25

thinks this is rigged is either a child or doesn't know how the world works

oh sweet summer child

2

u/ConfidentCamp5248 May 13 '25

I don’t believe in coincidence or complete randomness. Multi billion business operate to make money, don’t ever forget this league is about money and the owners want more money. Winning is on the surface level, and it is a real want and need but the back bone in money. Luka going to my lakers was a money making move.

2

u/Shinu_Music May 13 '25

This. I think a lot of people kind of fail to grasp how Probability works (I don’t blame them i blame the schools). If every year the team with the best odds at the no1 pick would win it, that would be a bigger warning sign that its rigged than this. unexpected outcomes WILL occur. And they WILL occur consecutively and at weird times at one point or another. As much as i’m not a fan of the Mavs getting rewarded for their stupidity, that it happened doesn’t automatically mean its rigged.

2

u/Kurtoonist May 13 '25

😂 That would be the firm - Ernst & Young. Nobody is trying to trust some dude named Ernest.

2

u/inform880 May 13 '25

And they post the entire draft on YouTube anyways. No cuts. It’s boring as shit

Edit: here it is. It was posted immediately

https://youtu.be/NCxgXS7EBI0?si=XImi9bnbX9zWGq4i

1

u/[deleted] May 13 '25 edited May 13 '25

Alright I'm sold. I assume the team entry combinations are publicly available somewhere, and if so then the degree of difficulty in physically rigging this rises to like astronomical levels and the number of people in the know rises as well.

So that's pretty cool, a very unlikely event happened, and it's cosmic poetry to boot- "the most entertaining outcome is the most likely"

edit: of course people who have thought about it for more than two seconds came up with ways to rig a pingpong ball machine...

1

u/shoefly72 May 13 '25 edited May 13 '25

Am I insane or is this still not a foolproof process? “The timekeeper will face away and signal to Matt when to draw the ball.”

I watched the whole thing and it sure looks like Matt can see which balls are near the top and is taking his sweet time drawing them and not responding to anybody’s signals immediately? They should have somebody drawing the balls totally blindly without looking at the machine, should they not?

Especially since they said the ball combos are given sequentially, so the team with the highest odds/worst record gets the combo 1-2-3-4 and the teams with the lowest odds get double digit numbers…doesn’t that make it easy for Matt to try and wait til double digit numbers are nearby to pull the ball?

In this case, the spurs, mavs, and sixers all moved into the top 4, and all of them would have double digit combos. Idk this doesn’t seem rig proof in the slightest lol.

2

u/PkmnMstr10 May 13 '25

It's literally posted on YouTube.

2

u/keithstonee May 13 '25

they don tpick the balls out of the thing anymore? if its behind closed doors its 100% rigged. thats insane its not shown.

2

u/[deleted] May 13 '25

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NCxgXS7EBI0

They upload the drawing after. There a reason they do that. It's boring as hell and goes from 1 to 4

3

u/SuperVaderMinion May 13 '25

You seriously think the other 29 teams wouldn't sue if it was found to be rigged?

3

u/the_che May 13 '25

No because it’s rigged in a way that benefits the league as a whole and maximizes the owners‘ profits.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/pupunoob May 13 '25

Wait what? I thought it's always broadcast?

2

u/sbenfsonwFFiF May 13 '25

It’s uploaded after because the first pick is picked first

1

u/[deleted] May 13 '25

The actual lottery is boring, and happens in order going 1 -> 4, so a little anticlimactic. It’s like 1 minute long.

They can’t sell 18 minutes of ads for that lol.

1

u/Butter_with_Salt May 13 '25

Why on earth would they not broadcast the actual draft lottery process

Because it's a bad TV product, they release the video of it afterwards.

1

u/Working_Song May 13 '25

Wait, they don’t? Has this ever been addressed?

-2

687

u/iNfAMOUS70702 May 12 '25

The NBA is absolutely shameless lmao…you know it’s rigged when even the players say something

208

u/Pssay_Licker May 12 '25

Face of the league too

10

u/KrazyNinjaFan May 13 '25

Why are people saying the lottery was rigged?

95

u/Masta_Wayne May 13 '25

The Mavericks won the first pick while only having a 1.8% chance of winning. People are saying it was rigged to repay them after the Luka trade.

When you look into previous super low percentage first round picks, it seems to always line up with the winning team trading away/losing a big player that year.

u/[deleted] May 13 '25

40

u/Hotpotlord May 13 '25 edited May 13 '25

Cavs getting 3 number 1 picks in 4 years after LeBron left. Then LeBron coming back home to a resource rich team.

Bulls getting Rose

Spurs getting Wemby.

NO getting Zion after trading away AD. The AD pick was also after trading away Chris Paul.

19

u/disbishempty1 May 13 '25

Pelicans getting Zion before trading AD

28

u/mindpainters May 13 '25

Cavs getting LeBron, Cavs getting Kyrie, bulls getting rose and now the mavs getting the #1 pick. They are all things a writer of a show would make happen so people think it’s rigged. Especially when the team who gets #1 has a 1.8% chance.

5

u/nartnoside May 13 '25

Hornets getting number one after league vetoed CP3 and getting AD. Then Pelicans getting Zion after losing AD.

3

u/Free_Possession_4482 May 13 '25

TBF the Cavs did have the best odds to get LeBron in the '03 draft (technically tied with Denver at 22.5%.) I have no problem believing the NBA rigged it anyway, but that whole draft order was chalk except for Memphis bouncing up to second after finishing sixth.

6

u/Rauligula May 13 '25

1.8% is still 1.8%

27

u/beta-test May 13 '25

LeBron leaves Cavs get 2011 1st pick

AD leaves pelicans get 2019 1st pick

Wemby talking about playing for Pop and Spurs get 2023 first pick

Luka leaves Mavs get 2025 1st pick

The odds are bullshit and have always been bullshit the NBA doesn’t award blatant tanking unless you’re a bigger market

1

u/mindpainters May 13 '25

I’m not of the belief that it’s rigged. Just answering their question.

0

u/blunderball1 May 13 '25

1 in 55 chance things happen a lot.

0

u/signmeupdude May 13 '25

People are really really bad at understanding percentages. 1.8% sounds like something that should never happen, but in reality 1 in 55 really isnt that crazy.

Like if a disease affected 1.8% of the population, it would be insane.

Then you go and look at the teams who “should” have won and its not like they had a 50% chance or anything. They had like a 14% chance, which is also “low.”

This is just how randomness works and when you have changing odds and a sample size of 1 every year, weird stuff will happen.

1

u/RecentSituation693 May 13 '25

LeBron acting like he isn’t in on it

325

u/ThatBigNoodle May 12 '25

Man I didn’t wanna believe the league forced Luka to LA but damn 🤣

184

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

They 100% did, it makes so much more sense than Nico woke up one day and decided to trade Luka to one team for the weakest trade return he could have gotten

96

u/PenguinPrince1 May 12 '25

The only problem with this theory is it requires the Mavs to have missed the playoffs. They were one game away in the play-in and if they beat the Grizzlies they'd have a 0% chance. AD was even playing through injury in that game, I know it was more of AD's decision to do that but if you actually made this under the table deal there's no way they would have allowed him to play.

Edit: Also if Kyrie doesn't get injured they're probably in the playoffs

3

u/[deleted] May 13 '25

He wanted AD exclusively lol when he could of had literally anyone not named Wemby. Of course the mavs were guaranteed the #1 pick by Silver for Luka. AD is just the beginning of fair compensation.

4

u/Single-Purpose-7608 May 12 '25

It's crazy. Why put Luka in LA when they could've just let the Lakers win the lottery? Now LA could potentially end up worse off than Dallas if they dont manage to get a center, which they have virtually no assets to trade for anyway.

→ More replies (2)
→ More replies (1)

17

u/TheConsultantIsBack May 13 '25

If it is rigged, probably makes more sense that it's in a way to cover up the generational fumble the Mavericks made rather than having instructed them to make it.

Like Mavericks trade away Luka cause of reasons, fandom obviously goes down, league wants to keep eyes on the sport so they give Mavericks a reason to keep their fan base engaged.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Jtizzle1231 May 13 '25

Facts….me either. But even I can’t deny it any more. This shit is rigged as fuck.

32

u/jono9898 May 12 '25

Get Luka to the Lakers, that drums up views as the most popular international player goes to the most popular team, then you put the number 1 pick to the Mavs as compensation even though the odds were damn near impossible, it’s the same shit happened when AD was traded to us, for the Pelicans to get Zion.

3

u/[deleted] May 13 '25

I'm on board with this conspiracy theory. Adam Silver gets a lot of inspiration from European Soccer, that's where the idea for the "mid-season tournament" came from. He wants the Lakers to be the Real Madrid/Barcelona of the NBA.

1

u/MaoZivDong May 13 '25

I think the Cavs had something similar too, I’m pretty sure it was the Pelicans though I just couldn’t remember where I saw this before

2

u/jono9898 May 13 '25

Cavs got the pick right after LeBron left, if I’m not mistaken they got the number 1 pick 2-3 years in a row

1

u/MaoZivDong May 13 '25

They’re hoping we forget about this one

12

u/linskyxx_v_xx May 13 '25

11

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

7

u/Ok_Employee1964 May 13 '25

I mean is there any point to watching this league anymore. NO loses cp3. They draft AD. They lose AD they draft Zion.

The Cavs lost Bron and got 3 number one picks.

-32

u/Tall_Succotash May 12 '25

Because the Mavs are gonna outlast us with this pick, he’s younger and a two way player..I mean if we can win who cares but it’s about 10 years down the line at this point
