Rule clarification- No Breed ID
Apparently, we need some clarification here about what constitutes a breed ID post.
Asking what your lab is mixed with- lab mixes are allowed, but don't crowd source opinions on what they're mixed with. Asking if your lab looks pure bred. Asking what color variation your lab is.
Sincerely -your mod team.

yellow New Lab Puppy 🥰
Our 3 year old Labrador passed away a few months ago from a very rare and very aggressive form of hepatitis. We miss her dearly and think about her every day. We’ve had a Labrador in our family for 16 straight years, so our home felt so empty without a Labrador companion. So, we just welcomed a new puppy into our home. I will say a puppy and a 1.5 yo toddler at the same time are not for the faint of heart but we are loving every day with Miss Penny Lane.

seeking advice ACL torn by Dog Trainer. Help.
Hey Guys, this is my first time posting here, meet Mila! Shes our 7 month old old Puppy and she means the world to me.
Long story short our local dog trainer pushed/threw Mila to the ground during a training exercise. Mila fell onto her right side, squealed and was clearly very startled. It obviously seemed excessive to me but considering its my first time raising a puppy and shes a professional dog trainer i didnt say anything and gave her the benefit of the doubt.
The next day Mila started limping on her rear right leg. I assumed it was nothing serious but after a few days of no recovery we went to our vet. They sent us to another animal-clinic because they didnt find anything. We then went through multiple xrays, CT-Scans and finally a MRT after which they told us that her ACL was torn.
Considering that dogs ACLs are usually worn down over time and are way more commonly torn in older dogs, Her tear must have been the product of traumatic injury. Since there has been no other incident of that kind around the time she started limping, me and the doctor are certain that the dog trainer is responsible for her injury.
I feel overwhelmed with fear and anger. We already spent thousands just on the diagnostics, not even including the surgery.
How could there be dog trainer that use such negligent practices? There is no way that this was the first time she mistreated a dog. Mila already lost so much time she could have spent on walks or in the dog park, and after the surgery she wont be able to do anything fun for months. She also is not fully potty trained yet, and we wont be able to keep potty training after the surgery.
Im seeking advice on how to deal with this situation. Im located in germany and the trainers insurance likely wont cover the vets bills, i read her terms and conditions on her website. Part of me wants to inform all other dog owners in the trainers group chat that she uses cruel and negligent training when the dogs wont listen to her. I cant bear the thought that she might hurt another dog or tear another dogs ACL.
It breaks my heart to not be able to give my puppy the life she should be living right now and that she deserved, just because of an injury that someone subjected to her.
Am i overreacting? Do you think potentially suing her for the vet bills is worth it? How would you handle this situation?
Please excuse my spelling.

lab mix Do labs have a strong "dog smell" or is my nose just sensitive?
Pluto is a rescued labradoodle, but I highly suspect he has more Labrador ancestry than poodle. He has more of a lab temperament (including the mouthing ugh) more jowls, stockier structure and coarse guard hairs.
He also STINKS to high heaven. I have a very sensitive nose and generally really dislike doggy smell, and this guy takes it to the extreme. He just had a full workup at the vet and everything was normal. He was treated for a double ear infection which I thought was the source of the odor, but it wasn't. We also removed all chicken from his diet since he seemed to have an allergy to it and he's still musty.
Maybe it's because he is intact, but he just smells soo funky. It's like dirty dog smell with BO with pennies. It gets even worse after he gets wet (he LOVES water) or is in the sun. His paws smell like corn chips which is normal and I enjoy, but the rest of him just smells musty. He just had a bath last week and he already stinks again. When I uncover his crate in the mornings it's like a stink bomb went off in my room. Maybe I just have a sensitive nose but dang it's lethal sometimes.
He is getting shaved down to the skin because of some matting from his previous owners neglect, so I hope that helps with the smell, but are there other things I haven't thought of to help keep the oil/scent from his coat to a minimum? He also leaves a bit of a film on your hands after petting which I know is normal for labs but it's a little gross and is gonna take some getting used to lol.
Also, are labs prone to any allergies aside from chicken? Could that also be a source of the stink?

Rainbow bridge🌈 I miss my lab children
I’ve had two labradors as guide dogs. One of them was a yellow, and I lost him to cancer and the other was black, and I had to retire him. So it’s kind of a bad day already for me. The world is so much colder now and I feel so alone. I need lots of Labrador love today.

black She’s only 3, but I’m already scared of losing her.

Whenever she comes running toward me like that, I catch myself thinking, 'Is this how she’ll run to meet me in heaven?' We still have over ten years together, but it breaks my heart that she’s already turned three. We go swimming in rivers or the ocean every weekend and take two-hour walks on weekdays, but it still never feels like enough.
I’m already terrified of the day we’ll have to say goodbye. Do other dog owners ever have thoughts like this when looking at their young dogs? I feel silly
EDIT: Thank you, everyone. Your encouragement and empathy mean so much to me. Everyone has been so kind despite my overthinking. I'll do my best to cherish every single day and try not to worry too much about the distant future.

chocolate My chocolate Lab at around one month old
Found this photo of my little guy when he was tiny. I can't get over how small he was and those little eyes! It's crazy how quickly they grow.
Lab owners, what's one thing you miss most about when your dog was a puppy?

seeking advice My lab is back into destruction mode - need advice
Hello everyone,
First time posting here, seeking for advice.
This cute 2 yo black lab is called Rosie.
We love her tons, but recently, she started destroying things around the house again - chewing cables, eating my son’s wooden bicycle (twice), destroying mops, shoes, chairs, you name it. This was already an issue when she was smaller, but it ended up passing by a bit (and now that I think about it, it kinda always been an issue). I can’t count the amount of stuff that she chewed on or basically destroyed.
This currently occurs in the morning, between 9-13:00. Weirdly, it only occurs when she’s in the garden outside the house.
In terms of day to day stimulation : she walks ~30 min to and from the nanny with my son and I, every morning and every night. She gets a run every other day or so with my gf. Rest of the day we’re basically working, and she’s with us in the living room, during the evenings.
I tried taking my time during the walks, letting her sniff around town, making these walks her moment as much as possible. I also recently tried implementing more energy-spending times after these walks, where we play fetch in the garden, or I hide kibbles in the grass for her to find. No success so far but I’m keeping hope.
Maybe that can explain things as well, we got a boy 18 months ago. The cohabitation is very nice between them, but maybe there is some jealousy thing going on ? And finally, we moved houses 3 months ago.
Also I’m a work from home guy, so on paper I’m always at home - just tucked away in my office.
If you have any advice on how I can make this behavior stop, that’d be awesome. She’s perfect otherwise, but this is a real pain to deal with (esp. when she destroys other people’s stuff)
Don’t know if that’s enough (or maybe too much) information, but here goes !
Thanks in advance

black Meet Buck
Brought Buck home today, a 14 week old English. He was crate trained by the breeder. He is a chill little guy that likes to just roam around and mind his own. I will say it was a HUGE oversight on my end getting a 40lb dog that doesn’t know how to use stairs yet when I live on the second floor of a two family LMAO, stair and obedience training starts tomorrow. He was named Buck by his breeder but already does a pretty good job recalling so Buck it is.
When I was leaving the breeder and I couldn’t find him and low and behold he was belly up in his crate so when I got home he didn’t even explore, straight to the bathroom to nap for 3 hours before going outside to sleep again hahah.
Tonight is his first night in a new crate and besides the snoring and the occasional kick of the door as he is playing with his toys I’m truly impressed with how quick this little guy is adjusting.

black Say Hi to Mindy
Mindy is a 15 week old English Lab we just got last week. She was born with PDA (post ductal arteriosus) and already underwent the corrective surgery to repair her heart. We think she's pretty awesome as is.
