Kia K4 horn sounds

Hello, a question! I have a Kia K4 (European model). Regardless of whether I lock the car using the door handle or the remote, the horn occasionally sounds—and keeps sounding—until I unlock the vehicle. Previously, the app didn't show any alerts, but lately, I’ve noticed it sending a notification claiming that people have been left inside the car. I thought it might be detecting a bag I left on the back seat, but even after moving it to the footwell, the issue persisted. I have no idea what could be causing this; I even disabled the feature (though I’m not sure if it needs to be turned off again every time I start the car). Does anyone have any ideas?

Brand new EV9 drawer broken, no one can fix it

TLDR: My brand new ev9s rear drawer is stuck, and the dealership has attempted to repair it 5 times now without success.

Note: I posted this a few weeks ago, and this has been updated. I have marked the updated part.

I went to a dealership in the DC area to test drive an EV9. On the day before our scheduled drive the new October incentives kicked in and the website somehow doubled all the incentives, and it was advertising brand new EV9 GT-lines for right around $45,000. I was wondering to myself if Kia was truly getting desperate, so I looked at a Niro, which they were supposedly selling for $10,000, so it was an obvious site-wide error. The salesman confirmed it was an error, and by the time we got to our test drive, the website was fixed. We liked the vehicle. It is a 2026 ocean blue gt-line, which they were asking $64,000 for. They had at that time an ivory-silver gt line for a little over $59,000. We liked the blue better, so we told them we would like the blue one for the same price as the ivory one, and they simply agreed. So we have a new ocean blue gt-line that ai think we got a good deal on.

However, during the test drive we noticed that the rear drawer was hopelessly stuck. I told the salesman, and he took it to the service department.

Repair attempt # 1: Saturday Oct. 3rd

We were told that their "master mechanics" were not available on the weekends, so apparently they took it to the service gorilla, who proceeded to rip the handle off the drawer. They needed new parts, so we'd have to come back. We live 50 miles away, which was well worth the drive for the deal we got on it, but we were a little disappointed that we'd have to go back to get it fixed. We got their commitment to fix it in writing before we left.

Repair attempt #2: Monday Oct. 12th

A few days later we got the word that they had the parts, so we went back and waited. Nearly 2 hours- they said that it required the entire console to be disassembled. Finally, it was done, we got in the car, and the drawer was still 100% stuck. They did replace the handle, though, but its crooked and loose. So I asked the service desk fellow to come look. He said "yeah, we fixed the handle." OK, that's nice, but the drawer is still stuck. He took it back to the "master mechanic," who said they'd have to order more parts. He said it would likely be a few weeks, as its a "new model," and parts aren't readily available yet.

Damn. How in the hell do you fix the handle and not the drawer? Did they not notice the drawer was stuck? This one boggles my mind. The service manager called the next day to follow up, and I explained what had happened, and I asked him very nicely to please ensure that next time we make the drive we should actually get it fixed.

This has been my first experience with Kia service. I hope it gets better.

UPDATE:

Repair attempt #3: Friday Oct. 15th

The service manager called me the day after I had the non-repair, and I explained what happened, and I told him I'm not upset, but I just don't want to keep coming down to get attempt after attempt since its a 50 mile one and a quarter hour drive each way, and he assured me he'd make sure he makes it right for us.

We had a very unusual week where my wife and I both got Monday and Friday off. Monday was the first attempt, and we got a notification Friday morning that the parts were in. They were able to take us that afternoon, so we drove down. We waited two and a half hours until the desk guy told us there was another problem. They needed more parts, and they were planning to take the parts from another ev9 on their lot and use it to fix ours. It would take less than an hour. We said no problem.

About a half hour later the service manager, who I'd talked to on the phone, told me there were no ev9s on the lot that matched our interior. The problem was that they got the replacement parts, but they came damaged. The technician installed it anyway, but the manager noted some gouges on one of the parts, and decided he couldn't send it out like that.

So they ordered new parts, and the service manager said they could give us a loaner, and when our ev9 is done, they'll have a driver bring it to our home and pick up the loaner so we don't have to make the trip again. We accepted, and now we have a little green Sportage for awhile.

We wound up spending the lion's share of our two days off waiting for repairs, but I will say that service manager is definitely trying to make things right.

Repair attempt #4: Monday October 19th:

We got the word that repair parts are in. Soon afterward we got a call that the part that they received was damaged.

Friday Oct. 23rd I spoke to the service guy, who told me their parts manager was trying to get a replacement part, and that there were only 3 available in the entire nation. They called a little later and said they had located a part in Ohio, and they were going to ask the people there to inspect the part, and assuming it was good they'd send it via "emergency order," and the moment it arrives they'll inspect it again, and if its ok they'll install it.

Repair attempt #5: Tuesday October 27th:

the repair part came in, and we got a call. This one is damaged as well. I asked more questions- they told me the drawer was severely scuffed in a very noticeable place due to "extremely poor packaging and handling." I was told that they would order another, and it would be a week or more. Their parts manager would escalate this to the Kia regional manager. I asked if they would be able to have the regional manager call me, and he said that regional managers do not speak to customers.

So now we wait some more. We still have the sportage loaner, but we want our new vehicle. We have owned it for a grand total of 24 days, 11 of which the car has been sitting at the dealership. We put on less than 500 miles, most of which driving back and forth to the dealership, and they have tried 5 times to fix it unsuccessfully.

I think I'm going to try calling Kia itself and tell them about this fiasco. This is not inspiring confidence in the brand.

Canadian-bought Hyundai/Kia, engine failed while living in the US - denied by both countries. Anyone else?

Bought a 2013 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T new in Ontario (covered by the Canadian Theta II settlement, KSDS done). Moved to Georgia for work; engine failed in 2021. Hyundai Canada told me in writing to use the US dealer and that the class action would apply - then the settlement denied the claim because the repair wasn't at a dealer in Canada. Hyundai USA says it's a Canadian car. Paid $10k+ out of pocket, and two Canadian fire recalls can't be done here either.

Has anyone with a Canadian-bought Hyundai or Kia (Sonata, Santa Fe Sport, Tucson, Optima, Sorento, Sportage) been through this - especially anyone Hyundai/Kia Canada actually reimbursed for a US repair? Please comment or DM. Trying to show regulators this is a pattern, not a one-off.

Battery/Software Issues KIA Carnival SX+ 2026

We purchased our 2026 KIA Carnival SX+ from a dealership (Non-KIA) in March 2026. The Vehicle had approx 5500km on it at the time and we were told by the dealership that the vehicle was used as a demo. Anyway, we received Carfax report and it was clean no issues, we received a report from dealership with all inspections completed and all checks passed. We were excited about the vehicle like all others on the forum. My next step was to take the Vehcle to m Local KIA dealership to register it with them and get extended warranty. They even did a diagnostic check and all checks came back good.

Anyway fast forward to a sunny day in august(can't remember exact date), while out with the family, we get in vehicle and it won't start. The dashboard lights up but engine didn't start. We get roadside assistance to take vehicle to my local KIA dealership. We get to KIA and vehicle starts, the service team ran a diagnostic and said the back passenger inside lights were left on, maybe kids left it on. No problem, we take vehicle back with us. It runs fine for about 3 weeks and on Saturday morning in Sept, the vehicle completely refuses to turn on. This time no lights, no sign of life. We get road assistance to take back to KIA dealership. The service dept checks battery and its drained. They run diagnostic and of cause state that it could be the inside lights as this was the previous reason. They leave the vehicle on for about an hr to get the battery going. They turn it off and immediately try to restart and vehicle refuses to turn on. They ask that we leave vehicle behind in order for them to run further tests and if possible replace battery. The next working day, they replace the battery, call us in to come take the vehicle, we show up they go to parking lot to bring us vehicle but then the service technician comes back to say the vehicle wont start and the new battery is also drained. We left vehicle with KIA and it has been about 4 weeks+ now and still no resolution. KIA support has been engaged by the KIA dealership for the past 4 weeks to try and resolve this issue. The latest reason I have been told is that there is a software issue. There is no ETA in when we get vehicle back. The KIA dealership has paid for rental van for us this past 4 weeks.

Now my questions

Has anyone experienced such issues, what was the resolution?

The vehicle is financed, what can we do in this situation?

Is there anything I should be doing because I am concerned that I really don't know what is going on, I have to call the dealership to get feed back, I feel like I am missing something. Any advice on how to handle this situation will be great.

Appreciate the questions and constructive feedback.

Hello everyone, I have a problem.

Hello everyone! I own a 2019 Kia Ceed 3 hatchback with a panoramic sunroof. The LED light inside the passenger-side grab handle isn't working. I checked the owner's manual, but I’m unable to visit a service center. The manual states that this is a single unit and the entire assembly needs to be replaced—to be honest, I don’t quite understand that. Is there any way I can resolve this issue on my own? I’ve looked into it, but I haven’t been able to find any information or resources.

Surprise in loaner car

Post image
45 Upvotes

So - my Sorrento needs a crap ton of work. Exhaust is all rusted out and a few other things. I considered putting the $$ towards a new car but sucked it up and am getting it fixed. Gonna take about a week and the dealership was happy to give me a loaner. After a day or two, my 9 year old finds this electronic bong in the door compartment.

It was alarming to say the least, especially since my kid found it. Think they’ll give me a few bucks off the repair?

Like it says I got the above error code and I foolishly assumed this would be an easy fix/diagnostic. Dealer is telling me they need to call the tech line! Am I doomed?! lol the car only has 17k miles on it!

New car

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm looking for a new car and have come across this Kia. MOT history isn't the best and hasn't been taxed in a year which is obviously the main things I'm worried about.

It is being sold by a dealer, if I view this vehicle and it's all in order (New MOT will be done before purchase and so on) is this a reliable and sensible car to purchase or will I be finding problems left right and center?

Thank you all!

Thule Motion 3M box on a 2019+ Xceed?

Anyone running this box on this car?

I've got a 2023 Xceed and am curious about y'all's experience with this combo's windshield overhang and performance/noise at highway speeds.

Planning to mount on Cruz Airo FIX 108cm crossbars.

Thanks!

Update on my Optima with 69,000 on it going nowhere

I’m not getting my hopes up, but today I called the settlement number prior to filing another complaint with the attorney general and I actually talked to someone who seemed reasonable and couldn’t understand why my vehicle is still sitting when it’s under the regular power train warranty. He also acknowledged my intake manifold should have been covered under the emissions warranty. 🤷‍♀️ So, it’s still Kia, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. I don’t expect much if anything, but it would be nice to move on from it.

Intermittent No Start 2017 Forte

The car intermittently won't start. No idiot lights. Dead. Then a short while later (while waiting for a toe) it starts right up. The car runs fine - no issues there. So far had a new battery installed, a battery post and starter replaced. Any constructive feedback please? Thanks.

Lost one of my original smart keys — Kia Sportage X Pro 2024

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have a 2024 Kia Sportage X-Pro (US spec), which originally came with two smart keys. I lost one of them (or it may have been stolen)

I live in a country in the middle east; because I prefer US spec, I imported this car directly from the US. I contacted the official Kia dealer in my country, but they told me they only provide support for vehicles purchased through them or vehicles with GCC specifications. so I had to find a local automotive locksmith to deal with the issue.

Because the car is relatively new, the locksmith needed a security PIN to delete and program keys. He couldn't obtain it using his own equipment, so he contacted some people in Dubai (Egyptian and Indian technicians, apparently), provided them with the car's VIN, and we paid around $50 to obtain the code.

After entering the code, he deleted the lost key and programmed a new spare key. The number of learned keys went from 2 to 1 after the deletion, and then back to 2 after programming the new key.

I've attached a photo of the diagnostic tool showing Number of learned keys: 1, taken after the old key was deleted and before the new one was added.

i do not know if this is enough to confirm that the lost key has been successfully deactivated and can no longer unlock or start the car or is there any way the old key could still work?

Just sharing my experience in case it's useful to anyone else. Thanks!!

Ceed 2010 petrol burns too much oil

Hi all, I have Ceed 2010 1.6 petrol. 185000km on clock. Car is well maintained.

In last year we noticed it started to burn a lot of oil, like 1l per 2000 km and Catalytic converter is really problematic because of that.

My mechanic is not sure is it Valve stem seal or Piston rings problem.

Do you have any experience with this? I would much appreciate any info.

Did you guys get the lifetime warranty? Why does it/does it not make sense?

Got a 27 Sportage Hybrid yesterday and let the sales agent talk me into the lifetime warranty. According to him, this is bumper to bumper coverage for any non-cosmetic items. It was an additional $4k.

I know KIA already has a strong warranty, so now I’m second guessing if this made sense. For me, the big selling point was the electrical components. Especially knowing the screens alone are $7k and all I’d have to pay is a $100 deductible.

Curious if anyone else got this and has found it worth it or if I should cancel while I’m within the 30-day cancellation period.

Thanks!

Does Kia do Black Friday deals? Worth waiting?

I'm leaning toward buying a Carnival, but still weighing the pros and cons.

Does Kia typically offer Black Friday deals, or are the discounts pretty much the same as any other time of year?

Curious if anyone has gotten a particularly good deal around Black Friday.

Kia access app: no charging stations showing

I use the app for my 2025 Niro PHEV and all of it works fine, except that the “find charging stations” function always gives me an empty map. I zoom the map out and search a built-up area that definitely has lots of stations. I have it set to all types/ all brands of chargers.

This is not a huge deal, but I’m wondering what’s up with this. Anyone have the same experience?

Kia Carnival LX 2024

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi guys ! So I have an issue with my base trim LX carnival 2024, it's the model that doesn't have the electric sliding doors. Here is my problem : from the factory, my rear passenger side door is not aligned with the rear fender. The door is too much "inside" of the body which causes the ridge of the fender to be exposed to the rocks projections from the front wheel and causes many chips on the paint. The driver sliding door is aligned properly and doesn't have that problem I exposed the problem to the dealer and to Kia Canada and both of them told me it was not their problem, that they are manufactured that way and that it won't be fixed under warranty. Was wondering if any of you guys had the same issue ?!?

Finding the gear fill port?

Okay so I’m not that much into mechanics or fixing cars but my dad is. However we were changing the transmission fluid and ended up draining the gear instead of the control(?) We know where the control port is but does anyone know where the gear port is to fill it back up and able to show a picture? Ours is a DTC (we figured that out, surprise 😬) 2022 sorento turbo 8 speed
