KDE Apps and Projects Krdp.
Does anyone know if weyland based Krdp will support log in pages for remote connections or is there a weyland alternative that allows this fuctionality. Worried about the dropping of x11 and dont really want a loginless machine that i need to leave open when im away from it.

Yes, in Plasma 6.9 it will support interacting with the login screen via RDP.
Edit: this was wrong, sorry. Correction:
In Plasma 6.9 it will support making RDP connections to users who are not currently logged in; authenticating as them will log them in and start an RDP session for their user account.

Ohh that is good news, I was expecting this for long time. I have to connecto to my remote machines sometimes with a desktop environment and at the moment it was only possible with windows Remote Desktop, send wake on lan package and the login with Remote Desktop. Plasma only allowed to login if the session for the user was already active but not from a fresh start, since krdp is only available after login.
Thanks

I'm unsure I understand your question properly... There are multiple ways you can interpret that, so I'll answer for the main two ones:
-
KRDP authenticates you before opening a remote session, and it can use PAM to authenticate with your regular username and password over a TLS protected channel.
-
KRDP, since Plasma 6.8, supports exclusive / headless sessions. You can remote into your computer, without your actual, physical computer being unlocked and showing what you are doing. It is optional however, so you have to enable exclusive mode in Plasma settings.
It does run as a user systemd-unit, so it requires a user session to be started. You can enable-linger with loginctl on your user to start a systemd session automatically for your user on boot.

The user wants some way to remote in whilst the computer is on, but not logged in. That's not currently possible because KRDP runs in the user's running session.
Support for a login screen accessible via RDP (when connecting without credentials) is not something we intend to implement, as this sort of behaviour (which Windows' client assumes is not present with NLA) is pretty much deprecated, because of the potential for abuse.

It is possible with
loginctl enable-linger <user>combined with the new exclusive mode.3

and here i am... letting my user do an autologin... and then locking the session by an autostart script involving "loginctl lock-session". :D
i will migrate to your solution via "enable-linger" as soon as i come home. thanks! :)
edit: to be fair... the exclusive mode is new. and without it the configuration of a headless mode in krdp seems to be rather laborious (yeah, maybe i'm a little bit lazy :P).

Rustdesk is probably the closest anyone has gotten to what you're looking for. I'm in the same boat as an MSP needing to support a select few linux machines remotely, and switching sessions isn't currently possible.
