Hi all! I'm the developer behind Karaoke iQ (come say hi in the r/karaoke Discord channel #karaokeiq).
Karaoke iQ is a mobile-first web app that keeps your karaoke repertoire organized and tracks every song you sing. If you're tired of scrolling a cluttered notes app, a giant Spotify playlist, or a spreadsheet you have to pinch and zoom in a dark bar, KiQ is built to replace all of that. It includes a venue directory synced with KaraokeCrowd (r/karaoke's official venue database), plus optional friends and in-app chat so you can connect with other singers without trading phone numbers or socials.
New this week:
Video Walkthroughs!
I made a two-part video tour of the whole app. Part 1 is getting started and a night out, Part 2 is friends, duets, venues and more. Watch the Karaoke iQ Walkthrough playlist on YouTube. New singers get offered it right after picking a stage name, and it's linked from How to Use too.
Android Testers Wanted!
The Android app is in closed testing on Google Play, and Google needs at least 12 testers using it for 14 days in a row before it can go public, so the test should run about 3 weeks. The first 20 testers willing to keep it installed until the test wraps up (and use it periodically) get Karaoke iQ Pro free for a year. Interested? Sign up here and I'll email you the setup steps: https://forms.gle/kwj6D4oT3moYvj4j8
Screen Reader Support
-
Karaoke iQ now works with VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA and JAWS across the whole app, and swipe or long-press actions work from the keyboard. If you use a screen reader and are willing to try it out, DM me for a thank-you gift!
-
Higher-contrast buttons and badges, and pinch to zoom is back on phones.
Songs
-
Search forgives some common spelling differences beyond the existing typo tolerance: eg. Lovin' finds Loving, Alright finds All Right, and 20 finds Twenty.
-
About 80 catalog typos fixed, and genre tags cleaned up. #altrock is now #alternative, plus new #love (for love songs regardless of genre) and #long (longer than 5 minutes) tags.
-
You can now Pin to Stage Queue right after you add a song.
Venues
-
Venue schedules now bold tonight's hours and use compact times like "7pm–2am".
-
Venues with only one-time schedules/events drop out of the directory once the events are over.
Also New
-
Props (👍) stay in sync better across your devices.
-
Background updates retry after a server hiccup instead of getting lost.
The full changelog has everything else: GitHub gist changelog, OCT 23 2026

Hi all, not much updates on the Karamagic line of apps this week. Between other work and the cybersecurity incidents this week taking some time from me. My only update is that I'm starting to work on Windows app signing, which means that Lyricmagic and MomentMix will soon have Windows releases ready if things go smoothly. Hope to have more exciting updates for you next week! Happy karaoke'ing!

Karaoke5 v54.11 is out: your guests’ phones are now the remote. Song requests, live quiz and bar orders, no app needed.
This week in the world of Karaoke5: version 54.11 is here 🎤 (big one for phones, details below)
https://www.karaoke5.com
Quick background for anyone who doesn’t know me: I’m Salvo, a five-man team. Karaoke5 has been my baby for almost 30 years: the player, the song database, the singer rotation, the scoring and everything else KJs use every night.
What’s new in v54.11: we retired the old mobile app. Guests now scan the venue’s QR code and they’re in, straight from the phone’s browser. Nothing to download, no account, works on iPhone and Android, in 8 languages.
📱 Song requests from the phone (the main event)
-
One fixed QR code per venue. Print it once and stick it on the tables, it never changes, not even if you run Karaoke5 on different PCs.
-
Full songbook search by artist or title, or browse A–Z by artist. Every song shows its file type (MP4, MP3, KFN…), and one tap books it. Your library stays on your PC: phones only get small pages of results, so nobody can scrape your catalog.
-
Live queue with ETA: “Your turn in 2 songs, around 22:50”. There’s also a closing-time counter, so guests know if their song will make it before last call.
-
Edit or cancel a request anytime: dedication, notes, key change.
-
Your songs follow you: the phone remembers what you’ve sung, at any venue and with any host running Karaoke5. Your 2 most-sung songs sit right on the booking page, and the rest are under ⭐ Favourites. At a new venue it finds the song in that KJ’s songbook automatically.
-
Door control: every night the KJ approves each new phone before it can request songs. No more people queueing from their couch an hour before showing up. Once approved, a guest stays in all night, even if the phone sleeps or loses signal.
🎯 Live quiz on the phones
-
Start a quiz from Karaoke5 and every phone turns into a buzzer: four colored answers and a countdown.
-
Response time is measured on the server, not the phone, so a slow connection doesn’t cost anyone the win.
-
Live scoreboard on the big screen, plus a podium and a “You won!” trophy on the winner’s phone.
🍹 Bonus: bar orders
Guests send drink or food orders with their table number. The KJ picks one approved guest as venue manager, and that person sees every order on their own phone or tablet and taps Ready or Delivered. The guest sees the status live: “Your order is ready!”
Also in 54.11
-
Profile pictures: a photo, a selfie with crop, or one of 48 avatars. Photos appear only after the KJ approves them, on the venue screen, the queue, the chat and the quiz scoreboard. Uploaded photos are deleted automatically after a year.
-
Chat with the KJ, performance voting, and upcoming events with banners.
-
A new statistics tab for KJs (top singers, top songs, history) with print and PDF export.
That’s it for this week. KJs: what else would you want to control from your guests’ phones? I read every comment. 🎶

karaokemachine now has a full "venue" or public night mode (thanks to a lot of feedback from u/pkircher) which allows an operator to organize a queue per person.
Also android and iPad ports have a built-in remote accessible with a touchscreen, so they can be run by a single user in his/her phone or tablet now.

Hey everyone! I just launched a free web project this week called Sing Any Song and wanted to share it here first to get some honest feedback from actual karaoke people.
I originally built this for karaoke nights with my friends because my voice cracks whenever I try to sing songs outside my comfortable range, and a lot of standard YouTube tracks aren't in the right key for me. A friend recently convinced me to turn it into a public website so anyone could use it.
Here is how it works:
-
Website:https://singanysong.app
-
It plays songs directly through YouTube's official embedded player (nothing is downloaded or re-hosted), and lets you build a song queue and pull up synced lyrics.
-
To change the key of a song in real time (-12 to +12 semitones), it pairs with a lightweight companion Chrome extension called Sing Any Song Pitch Shifter (just approved on the official Chrome Web Store a few days ago).
-
It is completely free, with no ads, no accounts, and no sign-ups.
Since I literally just put it live this week, I am still actively polishing a few things (for example, right now lyrics don't always sync by default on every track, which I am working on improving). If anyone has a few minutes to try it out and let me know what feels clunky, what breaks, or what features you would want for a home karaoke setup, I would really appreciate it!

Hey I posted SingWS here a while back. It's heavily inspired by OpenKJ, which I used for several years before building this. I've rebuilt the whole app in Rust and I've run several shows with it. It's now SingWS 2, and the full program is a free download for Mac and Windows.
SingWS 2:
- New UI: smoother and faster than ever
- CDG side fill: fills the sides of a widescreen display with the CDG's background color, so it looks clean without stretching the picture
- Live or preset key and tempo changes
- Singer history built into SingWS, synced with the optional Remote Requests site
- Drag and drop for most of SingWS
- Improved background music silence detection, for smooth automatic transitions from background music to karaoke and back
- Hotkeys for play next, restart, stop and background music control
- Skip a singer or song in the rotation: it won't play, and it's left out of the end-time estimate, the ticker and the rotation screen. Right-click to un-skip it any time.
Remote Requests:
Singers scan a QR code (or go to your URL) and request songs from your songbook on their phone. Requests go straight into SingWS, Virtual DJ, OpenKJ or KaraFun. Singers can see their place in line and edit their own queue with a PIN, and singer history stays in sync between the site and SingWS.
- No app or account needed for singers: scan, search and submit, or use a kiosk tablet
- Duplicate request blocking, so the same song can't be requested twice in one night (5 hours by default)
- A New Songs page showing what you've added in the last 30 days
- An optional tips link to any tip page you choose (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal…)
I'm looking for feedback on SingWS and the Remote Requests site ($9.99/month). I'll give a free account to any KJ who wants to test it. Just DM me.

Any feedback would be awesome. Thanks!

Hi all, Jim here from the UK. Disclosure: I make this. Future Karaoke is for pubs that want a weekly karaoke night but can't justify booking a KJ. It runs on the venue's own laptop, PA, mics and screen, plays licensed Sunfly tracks (about 20k songs, no YouTube), and guests join the queue by scanning a QR code on their phones. An AI presenter calls up who's next and has a bit of banter, and the venue picks how cheeky it gets. It needs an internet connection (chosen songs preload, but it won't run fully offline), and it's not meant to replace a working KJ with their own library and rig. Pricing is £79/month with no minimum term, or £35 for an eight-hour pass, and there's a 30-minute free trial in the app. I'd really welcome feedback, especially from hosts, and criticism is fine too.

Hey didn't you modmail the mods a while back? I thought I saw an application for a one shot but I don't know if it got buried or what.

I did dude, I think someone got in touch saying i'm not allowed to post a link unless I pay them to get it virus checked??? It was a while ago. Is that the case? I remember thinking it was a bit weird and wasn't sure if it was someone connected to your subreddit so I held off.

Auto-KJ update for the week:
The sound engine changes are out. The loudness leveling, better key/tempo changes and pop-free pause/seek I talked about last week are all in the current release now. Update in the app and it's yours.
Small fixes. The Ghost-Trax waveform now scrolls instead of stretching the page.
Works the same on Windows, macOS and Linux, in both the free version and the full version. As always, tell me what's bugging you at your shows or what you want next. That's what decides what I build.
