Online Advertisment Is this legit from Amazon?

• Upvotes

Accidentally clicked an ad from u/Amazon_Official when scrolling through reddit. I looked at the profile but it doesn't look like that account has much activity which is surprising to me. New to reddit so perhaps I just don't understand how that works. I want to check the URL in my chrome history but don't see it so I'm not sure how else to verify.

Online shop Ironontransfers.co.nz

Just putting this out there so it hopefully shows up in your 2026/2027 Google search of this company.

Do not trust them.

I started getting suspicious after quite a long time not hearing anything after payment was made (about a month +)

I checked the Shop app and saw that they’d confirmed the order as “delivered” on the same day I purchased it (a customised sign btw). That felt weird so I followed up.

After a few emails and complete radio silence from them , I was randomly sent an additional invoice for shipping despite shipping being free at checkout via the shop app. They said I “chose Auckland” as shipping destination (which I didn’t) and this incurred additional fees.

They said they’re holding my customised product back until I pay the additional shipping. And this is after months of not hearing a word and nobody clearly communicating with me up til that point. No questions answered, nothing to give me confidence that they even made the product. Just them emailing me for more money. It felt weird.

The email itself didn’t address me by name and there was no sign-off name either so that also seemed odd. It was like they weren’t even pretending to not be scammy by that point.

This “please pay before we send” appears to be a second scam to get you to pay them more.
I felt dumb enough as it was getting (apparently) scammed the first time around, so I haven’t paid again. Would a sign actually show up? Who bloody knows! I have submitted a chargeback so I won’t be finding out.

The communication is weird af. It’s like they don’t even see your responses or emails and just send you random ones about your order being held until you pay more. And of course there are no other avenues for contact (that work) and they don’t sign off using names (to look up online) or respond to questions.

That’s why I started doing more digging and found a couple reddits about similar experiences.

🚩

The website says they are “an NZ family run business”- I doubt this very much. Most likely everything is overseas and they’ve got the phoney .nz website to catch people out. If I’m wrong, thats almost worst.

As an fyi, I had no idea that offshore scammers can just buy up an nz web domain. So, I know that now 🤣

Their website is pretty well done and because they’ve gone through the effort of being set up with Shopify, they look legit (well, they did to me anyway). This is how I got scammed. I figured a company can’t be a scam if it’s set up via the Shopapp and has an .co.nz website (learned my lesson there haha).

Their products show up immediately when searching for custom business signs and stickers. I read their website reviews and the Shop app reviews and thought, yeah let’s give it a go. The pricing wasn’t so amazing that it seemed too good to be true. All seemed legit. But! should have looked into it further, that’s definitely my bad. First time I’ve ever been scammed lol

Their FB and Instagram is creepy as hell and all AI.
Had I checked those out first, I probably would have avoided this.

Since digging into it further, I’ve also noticed negative reviews disappear (mine included) which raises concerns about whether the company is removing criticism to maintain the appearance of being legitimate and trustworthy to snatch up more dummies like me 🤣

Something I have learned from this is that if a website doesn’t seem to have a physical NZ business address and/or you can’t find an NZBN, maybe do more research.

If they aren’t offshore scammers, then the alternative is that they’re an extraordinarily shit company with absolutely zero customer support, accountability, or regard for their customers. Either way, neither explanation makes them a business anyone should trust.

I have initiated a chargeback through my bank to recover the money.

Anyways, there we have it! Learn from my balls up

Buyer beware

Website is very suspicious since it looks and seems AI generated. I have received emails from their HR department (but I don’t even remember applying for a job from there from their website, LinkedIn or even indeed. Google shows it’s a legit company but the application form they send me looks weird, I am unsure if it’s legit or not as a company. Thanks!

Online shop Is Toyshopmellow a scam website?

I’ve recently ordered from this website that I found on Instagram and I have gone back to take a look at the website and searched up about the website and believe it may be a scam.
When I search the website up, other toy shops come up and it’s nowhere to be found unless I put the full URL in.
I received a confirmation email in seconds through Shopify. However, I have emailed the website and have not received a response yet.
The Contact Information only gives a ‘gmail’ email to contact. No phone number, no address.
ScamAdvisor suggests it’s likely legit but the website is only young (created 2 weeks ago).

E-Mail Possible Phishing Email?

I got an Email from what looks like google security saying that there's an app password that's trying to withdraw money from my google wallet.

I haven't clicked any links or anything within the email because I wasn't sure if it was legit. It also included a phone number to the "Fraud detection team" on google but I've never heard of it and looking it up it seems like there is no number to contact google security directly.

Just would love to get some other opinions on this to calm my nerves a bit.

❗️❗️❗️Moderator Announcement❗️❗️❗️ I am seeing a lot of "scam warning" posts.

Greetings. It's your somewhat here somewhat not Moderator. I've been seeing a huge uptick in scam warnings. In fact, I had no idea I had a scam warning flair until just recently. I think a moderator I had back in the day added that.

This subreddit is for asking if something is a scam. It is not to warn users about scams. And here is the reason for that:

How the hell do I know what you're saying is legit or just a bad experience? You could be putting a company on blast because they forgot to add your ketchup packets to the bag. I've seen so many of these "I'M ENRAGED AT X COMPANY SO THEY ARE SCAMMERS!"

I don't have time to check up on every single "This company is a scam." posts. Now if you rephrase it and ASK "Is this company a scam?" that's perfectly fine.

I do not like doxxing, especially if it's just one dude angry at customer service. This will no longer be tolerated. I am removing the scam warning flair and any scam warning posts will be deleted.

This subreddit is about asking if something is a scam. If you want other services, there are other subreddits.

Second hand online platform Is the Daisy App a scam or not? (I feel lm The AH for telling my friends how skepitcal I was about it)

For clarity, My name is Junior in this story and Buddy is the friend that promoting this app.

A few of my influencer friends (I won't say real names) group text me with a QR code to download an app called Daisy. Here's a short description of what Daisy is.

"Daisy is a free app for TikTok and Instagram creators of all sizes that helps amplify content reach through community collaboration rather than relying on a single hired creator.Users can participate in brand campaigns by joining forces with other creators and engaging within the community—earning points for their activity without

needing to post original content themselves. The core “Boosting” feature lets creators get invited to campaigns, select or write comments, and earn points once Daisy verifies the activity. The app emphasizes collective audience power over traditional one-creator promotions and has no in-app purchases (sign-up is via Daisypay.io)."

When I (Junior) first saw this app I was very skepital about it. Even though Buddy, (The friend) said zero pressure, I felt a bit peered pressured into joining it. HOWEVER thinking about it a few hours I texted them back. Here's how the conversation went.

Buddy, "This is gonna sound scammy…but this app daisy has made me like a couple hundred dollars a week. Im just sharing stuff on my stories on insta and tiktok. And this one is actually real. Like legit made a couple hundred dollars. Most pay 30-40 dollars per story share. 10 bucks to like and comment…anyways, it works and they just

gave me referral codes if you guys wanna try it. No pressure."

The rest of the group

chat was saying things like,

"I will check it out

later" or "I feel the pressure"

Here's what I (Junior) said in response, "I’m so sorry Buddy, but I don’t think I can do it. It’s way too good to be true. I’m very skeptical and suspicious. I’ve seen first hand influencers get played! It starts out good but later down the line a whistleblower comes along and exposes yet another huge scam. Just keep your guard up when using the app."

So Buddy responds back by saying, “Haha it

doesn’t matter to me if you guys do it or not! Zero pressure. So don’t feel sorry my pal. I just sent a referal code if you wanted to use it. No pressure to use it. But it is very real. I’ll keep you updated on if I ever get played Junior! It’s not too good to be true for me Junior I have 1 million followers so when I share something they’re willing to pay me 40 bucks to share it on a story for 24 hours. Not actually sure how the money scale is depending on your following or not. you just link your account and then it tells you how much it’s gonna offer you for a share base on your following. They also choose the ads based on your content. Here’s the ones I got paid for most recently. Each coin is one dollar so if it says 30 it means I got paid 30 bucks to share it on my story.”

Then everyone else in the group chat goes,

"LoL jk okay. I will definitely do it since Junior isn't doing it. I will definitely do it!"

This is the part of the story where I feel I was the ah in the story. I feel the way I responded maybe came off too strong maybe an attack on their pride or integrity. Im guessing the part where I said, "I’ve seen first hand influencers get played!" Just maybe that quote rubbed them all the wrong way. And now I don't know what to do. I feel a bit guilty because I had the audicity to question anything. I really want this to work out for them and I'm willing to admit if I'm wrong. But right now I don't trust this app at all. And I really hope that Daisy is NOT scamming anyone.

Here's why I believe the Daisy app can possibly be yet another scam in the long run. First of all I was looking at all of Daisy's social media pages and noticed that almost every TikTok they posted had no comments on it. Alot of the social media posts felt very staged very spammy for my taste. i even saw that they Initially they had a lot of reels on instagram a few days ago and now present day, alot of videos were taken out. That was redflag for me. The social media pages for Daisy doesn't have alot of followers. YES I know this may be a lame observation. Maybe they're still establishing themselves as a brand. Lastly Instagram and TikTok has been known to suspend or permaban accounts that engage in spam liking or commenting or any form of fake engagement activity on their platforms. That was also another reason why I politely declined to join.

I may reaching BUT I can't help but think that something about the Daisy App doesn't feel right. My gut is telling me that it could end up becoming a major scam for influencers. I feel really guilty now because I had just pissed off my friends by telling them no. Its one thing being brutaly honest to strangers online no matter how much it hurts but it was another thing showing that same energy to your best friends. I can pretend that this not bother me and move on with my life but I can't no matter how much I try.

I can use some advice from Reddit community right now because you are all impartial and have no personal biases. OH and if you guys have any information about your experiences using Daisy please let me know. I can't be the ONLY one here that is very suspicious about this app.

Other App called "AITask" comes across scammy

There is a somewhat new app called "AITask" that claims to reward cash (paid through Cash App, bank acct or I think Venmo, PayPal were other options) to those who play games in order to "train" AI.

I am wondering if anyone else has had the experience I had, or similar, with this app.

POTENTIALLY MISLEADING REWARDS AND FLAWED GAMEPLAY

AI Task advertises an opportunity to earn money through AI-related tasks, but my experience raises serious concerns about the app's functionality and reward system.

The object-hunting puzzles contain questionable object classifications and appear to require finding objects that may not exist in the scenes. For example, a push pin is classified as a tool, and a level requires seven ancient weapons despite there appearing to be fewer than seven. The one-minute time limit (to hunt through several objects) makes these already frustrating tasks unnecessarily difficult, forcing repeated attempts and exposure to lengthy advertisements.

After two days of playing, I had reached $49.58 toward the $50 cash-out threshold, with the game showing 99.2% completion. Earning the remaining amount became difficult (the 'hidden object' and 'spot the difference' games look simple enough, but as you near the cash out threshold, you can find EVERY item except one or two being difficult to find). This raises concerns about whether the advertised rewards are reasonably attainable and whether cash-out will actually work.

THE PART THAT PISSED ME OFF

I FINALLY reached the $50 cash out threshold after a few days of playing the game off and on. The description of the app makes it seemed like a person can cash out right when they submit the request for cash out. I would have even understood if it didn't hit my account until 1 or 2 days later. But when I clicked submit, it prompt window popped up singing that a 3-day withdrawal request would need to be processed and in order to keep that process active, I would need to play several more game levels for 3 days consecutively. This sounded like a bait and switch. Because you start out playing thinking you will get rewarded for reaching a certain level. Thinking you will get rewarded without any trouble. And then you try to cash oh and you are hit with the realization that you will not receive this money unless you play several more levels for three more days. Playing to reach $50 is annoying enough, let alone playing for several more days. This 3-day withdrawal request stipulation is not even mentioned as part of the description of the app on the Play store. I dug around and went to the website of this app and that is where I saw the rules. These rules should be made available as part of the description in the Play store and within the app somewhere. But these rules are not visible in those places. It's like whoever developed this app (with the questionable name of "Haley Allison") just once attention further app, for people to download it, but really doesn't want to pay anybody anything as claimed.

I've heard of other people who also questioned this app and are suspicious of it. I actually reported the app within the Google Play store as being misleading. I even emailed the game developer as well. I would not recommend anyone download this app. It's too time-consuming just to reach that $50, the fun of playing is ruined, and it just seems like a scammy app altogether. I finally just uninstalled it.

Second hand online platform Bit worried that I'm about to get scammed.

I'm an artist who's just started taking commissions and only accept payment through Cashapp. My usual payment process is I make the artwork, tell my client when it's done, they send the money, and then I send the finished product.

But this recent client of mine is concerning me. She offered to pay $200 for something that I was only charging $30 for. Her account on TikTok and Discord are suspiciously recent and empty, and she said that she's a "business woman" and was using a business Cashapp account and so she had to know my email as well as my CashTag, but I looked it up and I found that not only is thay not true, it's also a common trick used by scammers.

Is this a scam? Or am I just overly cautious?

Edit: Due to several of y'all advice, I was able to confirm this was a scam and have blocked my "client". Thank you all.

Online shop Chinese Vendors

Has anyone actually bought from Chinese vendors advertising on Facebook?

I’ve seen a ton of suppliers selling name-brand products, some with pretty reputable-looking Instagram/Facebook pages.

Fragrances
Designer clothes
Watches
Apple/Android devices
Sony cameras
Drones
PlayStations
Dyson—even peptides. 😬

Let me point out the obvious: I’m well aware a lot of these are scams or counterfeits. I want to hear from people who took the risk and actually ordered.
I’ve seen these ads for years, so something has to be keeping them profitable. Whether people are getting scammed, receiving counterfeit products, or both, there have to be enough people who’ve tried it to share some stories.

Did they take your money and run? Block you right out the gate, or pretend they shipped something first?
If you actually received products, were they what the seller described? Did they look authentic?
(I doubt any were)

Second hand online platform Are stock photos on Facebook Marketplace sketchy?

Hello all, looking to buy a laptop on Marketplace and found a good listing but I’m a little sketched out by the photos. There are 4 photos that look like screenshots of video reviews, 2 stock photos with no background, a screenshot of the Best Buy order confirmation and 2 angles of a dent on the corner. No real full photo I don’t think. Seller is decently established and has 13 reviews, 4.8 stars. Is this sketch? TIA

Edit: This seller is local and we would meet locally.

Private Message (PM) Did I get scammed?

I was contacting a ticket reseller through a University approved GroupMe, and she sent me a link to a website to pay with my cashapp. The payment went through in bitcoin, and my cashapp immediately messaged me saying that I would be refunded in a day or two.
It’s now been exactly one week, and my refund has still not processed. I normally wouldn’t mind too much, but the refund also includes money I need to return to a friend who would have attended the event with me.

Is there anything I can do to get my refund? Or is this a scam, and my money is gone?

The url was pay2.casasas.best
