External Display Mode!

According to the press release:

"With iPadOS 27.2, iPad mini also supports extended display mode when connected to an external display, great for users multitasking with windowed apps."

Any idea if the older iPads will get this with the new iPad OS?

Being able to take this on a trip and bring a dongle to hook up to a hotel TV if needed sounds great!

Has it really?? Is it working on a standard iPad ? Understand it works on iPad Air and Pros … but they’ve got M series chips afaik

We’re talking “extended display” , not mirrored display

Not sure about standard iPads, I meant the Air and Pro. But it’s not M-chip exclusive, the A18 Pro MacBook Neo can do it. I just meant, if the existing Mini hardware could do it (and I don’t know if they can but the wording choice is weird if not), why wait this long to add it in software?

Oh. Yeah. The existing iPad minis can’t do this .. both mini6 nor mini7

I’m not expecting them to add it, why would they, but it’s odd that they specifically called out 27.2 when presumably the new one will never have anything older.
