Seeking Advice Question about fasting

During 2024, I weighed 220 pounds, and because of my accidental fasting, I lost 30 pounds (down to 190 pounds) and then later I kept fasting until I went to 150 pounds (meaning I've lost 70 pounds) by 2025.

However, because of the old weight scale not working, I kept eating and eating. I didn't think much about that. Then Mom, Jeb and I got a new weight scale, and I've noticed after using that I've gained back 40 pounds. I currently weight 195-197 pounds. My older sibling Jeb told me that it would take six months for me to fast until I get back to 150 pounds.

Are there any methods on fasting faster? Just curious.

  1. " because of the old weight scale not working" My guy a scale can't force you to eat more.

  2. Slow and steady wins the race.  IM isn't a magical cure. It's a guard rail. The basic equation does not change -

Caolories in < Calories out.

If you are over eating in your 4 hour, 6 or 8 hour window you won't lost weight.

Old scale died and i just went full "guess i'm fine" mode for weeks. The denial is real when you don't have that number staring you down every morning.

For speeding things up, you could try tightening your eating window more or throwing in a couple 24hr fasts each week. I mix in longer ones when I've slipped up and it helps reset my appetite quicker than just doing 16:8 every day.

But 40lbs in 6 months is already pretty aggressive, you're looking at nearly 2lbs a week. Pushing harder than that usually backfires cause you'll be so hungry you binge. Ask me how i know.

I'm actually non-binary, and I prefer gender-neutral and feminine terms. Seriously!

No 1 - it's an expression  No 2 - it genuinely doesn't change any part of the messaging.

Seriously!

It’s not appropriate to provide that info nowhere in your post, then interpret what is often a gender neutral colloquial phrase (“my guy”) as gendered, and follow it up with “Seriously!” when specifying pronoun preference, just fyi

The 40 pounds you gained took you by surprise? Just because of the scale? You couldn't feel that extra weight on your body? You didn't have to change your pants/belt, etc?

None of that sounds real to me for a human being.

Extreme methods will only make you gain the weight back faster.

Don't try to lose weight fast. The fundamentals of diet (including IF) and exercise are fundamentals for a reason. Your earlier fasting, while successful, probably wasn't very disciplined and that led to eating your way back up the scale. Focus on a basic IF program you can keep and add a physical activity you enjoy (it's fun, and it also burns calories). Keep it up.

There are methods but it doesn’t mean it’s sustainable. You need to find out the root cause of why you’re either overeating, or why your current diet isn’t working for you and then work from there.

If the reason why you put the weight back, such as stress, loneliness, depression, other mental health problems, still exists and not addressed, you will lose weight and gain all of them back.

Address your whole life first, weight is one part, and if you don't, you are just wasting your time, and this yo-yo weight loss, weight gain is not good for your physical and mental well being.
