🗫 Discussion What's your opinion on this
Logically I would prefer my safety first and will not care about this charging times. I mean how phone charging is more important than someone's life. Thing is that this type of casuality doesn't depend only on your negligence but negligence of other passengers also. People at midnight sleeping peacefully suddenly hear the fire alarm how they are gonna react? There was incident where many people lost thier because of the panic created by false alarm. People deboard the train and got killed by the train coming on the adjacent track. And I feel that amit killhor actually speaks too much with half or no knowledge. I mean he is giving the argument of online payment and throwing passengers at stone age. Then mister when you are traveling in train many of the times you will not get network to even open your Instagram. And you are talking about payments then honestly how many persons are actually gonna purchase something at night like 2 3 am(very less i guess). And same thing for sellers. Which vendor is gonna sell tea coffee chips at train at 2 3 am?(Yes you can see some sellers at station but not in train obviously)

⛔Travel Issue Newly constructed Guduvancheri Railway Station entrance covered with posters
Update: I raised the complaint this morning, and they’ve already taken action. The inspector also called me and confirmed that they’re working on resolving the issue. 👍
Really appreciate the quick response from the authorities. 🙏
I recently visited Guduvancheri Railway Station (Tamil Nadu) and noticed that the newly constructed entrance structure is already covered with numerous unauthorized posters. The structure appears to be newly built, but the walls are already being used for advertisements and posters, which makes the entrance look quite unclean and unattractive. I initially raised a complaint through Rail Madad. I received a call from the Railway authorities, and they informed me that this entrance structure does not come under their control and suggested that I approach the local Municipality. I have now raised the issue with the Municipality as well. Sharing these photos here to bring attention to the issue. Has anyone faced a similar situation at their railway station? Is there any other authority or effective way to prevent unauthorized posters from being pasted on newly constructed public infrastructure?

📜Travel Story I had ONE job...
Booked a side lower berth and made up my mind that I was NOT going to give it up for anyone. No matter who asks, no matter how many people ask, I'm keeping my seat this time
At least, that was the plan.
So, about an hour after the train departed, this big family boarded and, ofc they came up to me asking if I could exchange my seat with em
And in my head, I was like, NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. I'M NOT MOVING.
But then there's this whole family standing around me, all looking at me, waiting for an answer...
They didn't really force me or anything, at least not yet, but I still felt so cornered that I folded after they asked me literally ONCE. LMAOOO.
BUT in my defence they did offer me another side lower berth, so I wasn't exactly losing anything. Hahaha
Still, it's hilarious how I spent the entire time before the journey mentally preparing myself to say no, only to crumble at the first actual opportunity.
EDIT: GUESS WHAT Someone else asked me to exchange my side lower for their middle berth because their knees are older than mine. And this time, I'd had ENOUGH. I actually told them no.
But they kept pushing, so I eventually told them I'd recently had leg surgery and couldn't climb the ladder.
AND ONE UNCLE STILL HAD THE AUDACITY TO KEEP INSISTING 😭 I WAS THIS CLOSE TO FOLDING AGAIN, BUT THANK GOD THE OTHERS TOLD HIM TO LET IT GO.
I might actually be learning how to say no ahahaagh

🍔Food/Pantry Beware of unauthorized station vendors at Agra! Worst poha ever!
Bought this from an outside vendor who rushed inside the train when it reached Agra station. Bone dry, neon yellow, and came with a random ketchup sachet!

📜Travel Story Almost missed my train because of this platform without any signs
Hi, I was traveling back home and had to catch my train from this small town where I was for the first time. My train was around 30 mins late and was expected to arrive at Platform 1, so I was chilling in the waiting room.
When my train was a few km away, I saw this other train stopping on PF1, coming from the other direction. And suddenly the announcement changed that my train will come on PF2. I came on PF1 and started looking for the overbridge. Thankfully an uncle saw me confused and told me there is no overbridge and I would have to cross over the tracks.
I climbed the PF1 train to cross and saw this freight train standing on the other side, so I thought it was in between platforms, and came back on PF1 looking for another way. Then the same uncle told me that this small footpath without any sign or lights is the PF2 and freight train is on PF3.
I hurriedly crossed the train and tracks and came to this PF2. Luckily my train got delayed again for few more minutes so I was able to board it without any problem.
In short, thanks to the local uncle I was able to board my train...

My mom and dad are travelling and their bag was stolen at around 1 AM today they call me using someone else phone we call the railway helpline and they are doing nothing just calling me and asking for details like when, where and what was stolen and then saying when my parents will reach Delhi then we can write the fir and they will arrive at 4:30pm today.
And the main thing is I can track my father's mobile phone using find my device it is near Bhadaura station and when I tell this info to railway helpline they saying they can't do anything we need to write fir first, and I even try calling the police in 100 then they give a new number for that place and when I call them they say they can't do anything. Does anyone can help me what can I do?
I tried calling to mobile thinking maybe I can threaten him by saying his location and stuff but his not picking. And he is at same location since 2AM

📰News BREAKING NEWS: The Indian Railway Ticket Checking Staff Organization has raised concerns over the rising incidence of false accusations by women against ticket checkers.
Sources:
- Indian Railway Ticket Checking Staff Organization [ IRTCSO ]
- Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj on X
Male ticket checkers are being systematically targeted by some ticketless female passengers who claim “harassment” the moment they’re caught. One accusation, zero evidence, and a man’s career, reputation, and freedom hang by a thread while the woman walks free. This is not passenger rights. This is gendered blackmail.
The Indian Railway Ticket Checking Staff Organization has finally spoken: body cams mandatory, female RPF/GRP on high-risk trains, fast-track probes, and real punishment under the Railway Act for false cases. The suggestions have been written to the Chairman & CEO of Railway board.
Organization Demands: The staff association has urged the railway administration to implement several protective measures:
- Body cameras for TTEs to record transparent video evidence during inspections.
- Female CRPF or security staff to be deployed alongside checking teams.
- Quick disposal and proper internal investigation of harassment allegations.
- Strict penalties for individuals who make false accusations against on-duty public servants.
Questions for the members of this Sub:
- Do you think these reforms are sufficient? Or would you make any other additions or subtractions in these reforms?
- Do you think these reforms will actually be implemented?

Ask r/IndianRailways 16Hrs at Delhi Station
Hey everyone! I’ll reach New Delhi Railway Station around 11 AM (early december) after a 17 hour train journey, and my next train to Jaipur is at 6 AM the next dat
I’ll be travelling solo as a college student, so I’m confused about whether I should store my luggage at the station and explore Delhi or just find a budget friendly place to rest.
What places can I visit without dealing with scams or crazy crowds? Is the station cloakroom safe, and what are the approximate costs of lockers, hostels, or resting facilities?
Any tips or a budget friendly itinerary would be really helpful!
TLDR: 19 hours in Delhi between trains. Should I explore solo or rest near the station? Looking for safe places, budget options, and tips to avoid scams.

Ask r/IndianRailways 2AC PQWL 6 – Can I get mother’s vacant berth via TTE? Need counter ticket?
I have a 2nd AC ticket showing PQWL 6 (online IRCTC e-ticket amd chart prepared). My father has a confirmed seat in the same coach, and my mother also has a confirmed seat but she is not travelling, so her berth will be vacant after chart preparation.
Mine and my parents have different PNR since they have railway pass
I want to travel and sit on my mothers seat
Questions:
Since my ticket is PQWL, it will auto-cancel if it doesn’t confirm, right? So I can’t travel on it?
If I buy an offline/counter 2AC waitlisted ticket, can I board and ask the TTE to allot my mother’s vacant berth to me?
Does a counter WL ticket stay valid (unlike online WL), and will the TTE consider me for no-show berths?
Is there any better way to get a seat in the same coach with my father?
Plz reply as quick as possible since my train is in just 2 hours

Ask r/IndianRailways Foreigner here, WL and the possibility to get tickets.
Hey, I'm visiting India in a couple of weeks. For the commute, I planned to travel by train. In IRTC, my preferred train and sits are showing WL(x). Can someone explain? And what's the possibility that I will be able to get the desired ticket?

📜Travel Story Had a confirmed 3AC seat after WL 43, but still managed to board the wrong train
Today I was supposed to travel from Sawai Madhopur to Phaphund on Avadh Express (19037).
My 3AC ticket had a waiting list of 43, but it eventually got confirmed. I was so relieved that I'd get to travel comfortably. 😂
Here's the funny part: the wrong train, Avadh Express (19038), was running around 3 hours late. It arrived at the station just 5 minutes before my actual train's scheduled departure, so I somehow boarded it thinking it was my train. 💀😭
Only later did I realise that I was on the train going towards Mumbai instead of my intended destination, Phaphund.
I got down at Kota, and now I'm planning to take the Patna–Kota Express to Kanpur Central with a general/unreserved ticket, then catch the Gomti Express to Phaphund the next day.
Imagine going from a confirmed 3AC seat after WL 43 to an unreserved-coach adventure because of one stupid mistake. 😭😂
Indian Railways gave me a confirmed 3AC seat, but I unlocked the general-coach experience anyway. 💀🚆
Has anyone else ever boarded the wrong train? Please tell me I'm not the only one. 😂
