Hi everyone, I'm currently in 12th grade preparing for JEE Advanced, and my absolute goal is the IIST Dual Degree in Astronomy & Astrophysics. I have a few specific questions for current students or alumni:

• Safe Scores: I know admission relies on the JEE Advanced aggregate, but what is a realistic safe rank/score to target specifically for the Dual Degree program based on recent years?
• ISRO vs. Independent Research: I have a lifelong interest in space, but independent research seems financially risky. Is ISRO a good place for stable astrophysics research, and what is the reality of the work culture there?
• Reality Check: If you are comfortable sharing, what was your JEE Advanced , mains Percentile /rank , when you were admitted? I want to benchmark my current mock scores to see where I stand.

Thanks in advance for the guidance!

When do mtech 1st year get their stipend, it's nearly end of october iist

If i got 6.5cgpa in my btech and got a good rank in GATE then so is any iit give me admission in cse and was it became a problem in my mtech placement time to having this low cgpa in btech??????

Hey ,,,,

I’m a 1st year BS-Ms student at IISER TVM. Since our campuses are practically neighbors in the Vithura area, I’ve been really keen on visiting the IIST campus to make new friends and check out the vibe there.

So I want to ask

What’s the official entry process for external students

Are there any upcoming tech fests.....

Any info or leads would be great

hi seniors what are the general category cutoffs for iist? i couldn't find advanced ranks cutoffs

TITLE

If you maintain a good cgpa...

If you guys don't mind, ek ajib sa question puchna tha , monthly tum sab ka allowance kitna hai ....MTLB kitna tum sab use karte ho ,mana thora personal hai yet ,ek rough hand idea about itna thousand me comfortable chal jata hai ?

Anyone going for kanipa kapoor proshoww at cet today???

Where can I connect with bisexual guys in iist?

Came across this site called "unsaid live " and looks like many people from our campus are active here , maybe we can use it as a official confession board or something like that?

If I do my mtech from iist. Will that help me in selection?

I talked to a guy today he is currently doin a job in banglore and was graduated from iiser pune , i asked him about the college how we got pune etc , he told me that he got iiser kolkata , and since he was not getting pune and the date of joining was near , he left for iiser kolkata setup his room and took 15 days of classes (in iiser kolkata ) and after this all he got a offer letter from iiser pune !

the main reason i am thinking why this happend
Seats got vaccant after he joined (iiser Kolkata) due to some reasons in iiser pune and he kept on float ( yes u could float and go to college ( freezeing a college was not mandatory)

But in this year , JAC closed colleges ( to prevent counselling and classes( in iisers) going on simultaneously) , but since there are neet students who are still floating some of them will leave the seat to 1) Go in better iiser ( they could have got) ; 2) Go in a Medical college and hence seats could get vaccant again
but due to this new college closing mechnaism a student is not allowed to float ! ( after his all higher prefrences are filled , he needs to freeze or reject !)
and even if a seat gets vaccant later , iiser might leave that seat as it is ( empty) , even after having students deserving that seat !

Please mail JAC about this issue , and ask about the accountability of empty seat , how will those gets filled , any info about this,

I have a gate score of 532(gen). I have been thinking of applying to iist next year with this score. What are the chances I get it and which stream. Also how is it overall and placement wise. Also what if I want to study abroad after this. What opportunities it can offer? And internships.

Hello community, I have been selected for master dissertation in the department of chemistry.

It would be really helpful for me if you could share research culture at IIST, particularly regarding the location, accommodation/food, guidance and support from the mentor, infrastructure, and overall work environment.

Thank you!

I gave written exam for a post in SAC ISRO. It is not centralized recruitment but specific by sac, isro. The post is for scientist C atmospheric sciences and oceanography. There are 8 posts available. So, approx 40 students shall be called for interview.

My question is what kind of marks are needed to get interview (to get into top 40, or top 10).

What is historical data. I can't find anything on Google.

I'll appreciate if anyone can give insights.

One of my classmates has gone to iist. His mother told my mother than he got 1200rank in jee adv and left iit delhi circuital for iist. Are ppl like there present? Coz I don't believe ppl would leave iit delhi circuital for iist. I don't mean to judge iist but it doesn't make sense to me

Hi everyone! I’ve been selected for a position at IIST, but unfortunately they said I won’t be getting hostel accommodation.

So I am looking for a PG/hostel for men at affordable rates near IIST . Any recommendations or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone know about the IIST refund policy? After how many days do they deduct the admission fee of ₹83,200? The spot round closed on 31st July, and I sent them an email today (Sunday). Or do they count it from 25th July?
