$350/hr to work at a low level at a fast food restaurant. How long do you stay?

A billionaire is running an experiment.

He is going to pay you $350/hr to work at a fast food restaurant in Florida. Your take-home, after tax pay will be about $480,000/yr.

You can be fired but not easily as long as you show up and do a decent job.

How many years do you stay at the job?

(This was inspired by a post I saw earlier)

Genie offers you $1 million or ability to keep making $350,000

Genie appears in front of you and offers you one of two wishes. You can only choose one. Which one are you choosing?

  1. $1 million no strings attached, one time payment

or

  1. $350,000 every time you have a new net bodily weight gain of 7 kilograms (roughly 15.4 pounds). For example, if you chose this wish and currently weighed 170 pounds (77kg), you could gain weight until you reached a little over 185 pounds (84kg). Once your weigh in reaches a new net weight gain of 7 kilograms, you will be paid out $350,000. After being paid out, you can repeat this process at any time to be paid again either by gaining a further 7 kilograms or losing weight first then gaining a new net 7 kg. Any official weigh ins must be after not having eaten or drank anything for the last 6 hours or longer, so realistically it would be in the morning upon waking.

- You must finish at least one original artwork every day. It can be a drawing, a painting, a sculpture, a song or a short story.

- Each artwork must take at least 2 hours of active work. The time doesn't have to be in one session.

- Every artwork must be unique. AI can't generate any part of the work. Traced or copied work doesn't count.

- You must post each artwork on X within 24 hours of finishing it, on a public account under your real name.

- You can't delete, hide or edit your posts. You can't block or mute anyone, and replies are always open.

Would you take this curse?

You get $10 million, but every year you must disappear for 24 hours

Once a year, at a completely random time, you vanish from wherever you are.

You immediately wake up in a random location somewhere on Earth.

You have no phone, no money, and only the clothes you’re wearing.

Your goal is simple: survive the next 24 hours.

After exactly 24 hours, you’re teleported home, completely unharmed by any injuries you sustained.

But here’s the catch.
If you die during those 24 hours, you die permanently.

You can never predict when or where you’ll disappear, and you must accept this deal for the rest of your life.

Are you taking the $10 million?

[No Loopholes] Would you rather take 10k/month and retire, or 100k/month but have to work 5-6 days a week, 8-10 hour days for the next 10 years?

Would you rather take 10k/month and retire, or 100k/month but have to work 5-6 days a week, 8-10 hours a day for the next ten years? And the amount is after taxes.

I know this is a hypothetical question, but my friends who work in finance makes a high salary per month but the amount of dinners, weddings, milestones with our friend group (now that we’re in our 30s) they’ve missed is sad. But they live in nice homes. Pays for their parents, etc. while a lot of us work and have good paying jobs (6-8k per month) but have a nice 9-5.

$50 million, but you must work fast food until retirement.

A stranger makes you an offer. Tomorrow, $50 million will be in your bank account, tax-free, to spend however you like.

The condition: starting Monday, you must work full-time, 40 hours per week, at a fast food restaurant until age 65. Same uniform, same wage, same jobs as everyone else: flipping burgers, cleaning washrooms, working the drive-thru.

Quit or get fired, and you must pay back every dollar of the 50 million, including anything earned from investments or interest, and relinquish everything you've already purchased with it. You cannot use your newly-acquired wealth to evade your responsibilities (paying employees to take your shifts, buying the restaurant, etc.)

You can take vacation days and sick days like any normal employee. You can live in a mansion, drive a Lamborghini to work, and spend your downtime travelling the world. But every Monday morning, you will be back behind the counter.

Do you accept?

Humor Encouraged Every time you consume dairy, you get a little bit healthier, but some guy gets explosive diarrhea and sends a 2-minute video once a week begging you to stop and saying that you're ruining his life.

From now on, every time you consume, you get a little bit healthier depending on how much you consume in a day. For example, drinking a glass of milk would be like if you did a minor workout at the gym, while chugging down a few dozen tubs of ice cream would make you younger and heal/fix chronic conditions like a leg that didn't heal right or diabetes, given enough time.

But it comes at a cost: this guy now has digestive problems every time you consume dairy. Depending on how much you consume, it could be, "Thank you, I was a bit constipated" to "OH GOD!!! WHY WON'T IT STOP!!!".

Once a week, you have to watch a 2-minute video of him begging you to stop eating dairy. He'll tell you things like how he shit his pants at his daughter's school play or how the janitor at his job quit because of the messes he's made. It won't affect his health or finances, but it will socially.

Also, the guy is not a good person; he doesn't belong in prison, but he's a total scumbag, and you could look at this as you being karma's hand if it helps you sleep at night. You'll never meet this guy in person, and he has no way of finding you.

What are you going to do now that you have this Gift/Curse?

$17/minute, but you must spend at least 1 day a week in the White House

• Upvotes

- You have a teleport button. Pressing it takes you to a random location inside the White House, and pressing it again takes you back home. Everything you hold or wear goes with you.

- You can only press the button once a day.

- You must spend at least 24 hours a week inside the White House.

- You only get paid for the time you spend inside the White House.

- Security will question you every time they find you, so you need to find a good hiding spot.

- The random location can be anywhere in the White House, including the roof, the basement, the kitchen and the Oval Office..

- Any food you find in the White House kitchen is free for you to eat.

- You can pay $7/minute for the Guard Map app, which shows every security guard's location in real time.

- You can pay $8.50/minute for the Staff Badge. Once a day, security treats you as staff for 1 hour.

- You can pay $10/minute for Blink mode. You can teleport up to 20 meters, 3 times per visit, without using the button.

Would you take this curse?

$600,000 a year but your new job is now public sock snapper

Saw this on TikTok and thought it was an interesting one

You are offered a $600,000 year job offer.

If you choose to accept you are given a top of the line camera.

Your new job if you choose to accept is to take 50 clear photos per week of strangers socks.

You will go out in public and snap a picture of any sock you see on someone’s foot.

You can ask people to help you complete it but you cannot offer money or any other type of gift.

Each photo must be of a different sock. If you can get a photo of a pair of socks in a single frame, that’s worth 5 photos.

If you fail to get 50 photos by the end of the work week, you are instantly fired and any money you received must be given back/repaid

Would you accept the job offer?

Edit: Ignore that last paragraph, realised it didn’t make sense

You find yourself trapped in a Groundhog Day-style time loop, but a sketchy time wizard promises to free you... eventually. What do you do?

One morning, you wake up at 6:00 AM and go about your day as usual. But when the day ends, you wake up at 6:00 AM again, on the exact same day. Congratulations! You're stuck in a classic Groundhog Day scenario.

After a few loops, a mysterious time wizard appears before you. He apologizes profusely, explains that the time loop was an accident, and promises that he's working on fixing it. He estimates that he can probably get you out in another day or two... or maybe several. Unfortunately, he seems pretty sketchy, so you're not entirely confident in his abilities. For all you know, you could be stuck for another three loops or another thousand.

Before you can ask any more questions, he disappears, leaving you to figure out what to do with your potentially unlimited free time.

Here are the rules:

  1. The day repeats from 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM. Everything generally unfolds exactly as it did before, unless you directly or indirectly interfere with events. For example, the same news stories break, the same stocks rise and fall, and the same people go about their routines.
  2. You retain all your memories and learned knowledge between loops. You can study languages, learn new skills, memorize information, and generally improve yourself intellectually. However, you cannot retain anything physical between loops, including written notes, money, or possessions.
  3. Your body resets, but muscle memory persists. Any physical changes to your body—including injuries, fatigue, weight gain or loss, muscle growth, cardiovascular conditioning, and calluses—reset every morning. However, your brain retains everything it learns, including muscle memory, reflexes, coordination, and practiced techniques. You could spend a thousand loops learning to play the piano or mastering martial arts, but you couldn't build a bodybuilder's physique or improve your physical endurance. In other words, you can improve your skills, but not your physical attributes.
  4. Any loop could be your last. This is the big one. When the wizard finally fixes the problem, the day simply stops repeating. You don't receive any warning, and you don't get one final do-over. Whatever you did on your last loop becomes permanent, and tomorrow finally arrives. If you robbed a bank, assaulted somebody, or spent your entire life savings that day, congratulations: you now have to live with the consequences.
  5. You have no way to contact the wizard. He appeared once, delivered his explanation, and vanished. You have no idea when he'll return, or whether he'll return at all. You just have his promise that he's working on it.
  6. No easy lottery jackpots. For the sake of avoiding the most obvious answer, the repeating day has no lottery drawings. Other ways of making money through foreknowledge are fair game, provided you can figure out how to take advantage of them.

You could be free tomorrow. You could be stuck for years. You have effectively unlimited opportunities to learn, experiment, and experience things, but absolutely no guarantee that you'll get another chance to undo today's decisions.

So, what's your strategy? How would you spend your days, and how would you balance exploiting the loop with the possibility that any given day might become permanent?

Loopholes Encouraged $1000 a day, but you must melt your own water

You’re given a one time offer. If you accept, then you’re picked up tomorrow and brought to a nice complex where you will stay ALONE for as long as you wish.

The complex is very nice. It has a gym, trampoline park, gaming room, internet, a nice bedroom, plenty of clothes, a kitchen, and a bathroom. All of these come with whatever you’d expect them to come with, without very strict limitations on the value of the items inside. You are given full control of the thermostat, lights, and whatever else you care for.

The only thing missing in this complex is water. The kitchen provides most things, but denies you any watery stuff or undried fruits.

If you want water to drink, cook your food, or rinse yourself off with, you have to get it from the melting room.

The melting room is a large, stone room that is kept at -5 Celcius, just a bit below freezing, and has bags full of ice inside. To get water, you must use your own body heat to melt the ice inside the bags, which have a mesh-lined lid that lets you pour water out without letting you release any ice. There are no other water sources provided.

You may not bring the bags of ice out of the room, and the only things you may bring in are vessels to hold the water with such as pots, bowls, or cups. Leaving the door to the melting room open does not cause the inside to warm up.

You are allowed visitors, but they may not bring in water nor enter the melting room.

You are paid $1,000 (or equivalent) immediately upon entering and again for every full 24 hours you remain inside without leaving or breaking the rules.

How long are you staying, and what’s your strategy?

You get given $5, if you can spend it within 60 seconds you get $100k

If you accept, you are instantly given a crisp $5 bill. You are also transported to a random place in your city (nearest city if you don’t live in one).

It could be in the middle of the road, a random home or right inside a store.

You must spend that $5 in 60 seconds, if successful, $100k is instantly deposited into your account.

Don’t worry about queues, they instantly disappear and every cashier/self checkout accepts cash.

If you don’t, you lose the $5 and must pay $500

Would you accept?

You get one basic super power... But there is a catch!

A bored and slightly mischievous genie decides to show up in front of you and promisses to give you any super power you want! Well... almost. There are some rules.

  1. You cannot choose invisibility (you will see why soon).

  2. Your power must be simple. Some basic ass "fly" or "throwing fire from my mouth" or "talking to animals". No god level powers (omnipotence, for exemple), and nothing too specific or complex.

And for the final catch:

To use your new power, you must be naked the entire time.

No loopholes on that one either: the magic knows what can resonably be counted as "clothes" and will deactivate your power if it detects it.

So, what power are you wishing for, and how do you use it?

You Have a Magic Box That Produces Unlimited Food, but the Food Cannot Leave Your Bedroom

You have a magic food box that produces unlimited food cubes, but it exists in your bedroom and neither the box nor the food it produces can be transported outside your bedroom.

The food cubes it produces have all the water and nutrients you need for a healthy diet such that you can live a completely healthy life if you exclusively ate the food cubes.

It produces an unlimited amount of food cubes. The rate of production correlates with the size and openness of the room that you put it in, such that a small bedroom could feed one apartment building, but if you chose to sleep on the 50 yard line of a large arena, you could feed an entire city. It will only produce if you are there in the same room.

The food cubes have no flavor. They are neither enjoyable nor repugnant to eat. They are like flavorless jello. People will seek it out if they have to, but they probably wouldn't choose to eat it over other choices.

You cannot avoid the fact that it exists where you sleep by sleeping at another house, hotel, etc. It magically knows and will always exist adjacent to where you sleep. There is no way to put any kind of divider or wall between where it exists and where you sleep.

What, if anything, do you do with the food box?

Edit to address some flaws:

- The box must be in some sort of interior building. Indoor arena is ok. If you sleep outdoors, the box doesn't work.

- The produced food must remain within line of sight of the box and in the same interior space as the box, or it disappears.

Two Portals to anywhere on Earth.

That's it. You have two portals gifted to you by Earth so you can go anywhere you want from within your home. No one needs to know - or you can charge people to go through.

  1. The portals are nutral transportation. You will not suffer consequence in having them or using them. You can tell anyone or no one you have them. You can let whomever you want go through them. The consequences of use only apply to the rules and laws of man and where you use them.

The doors itself will be undetectable until you use them - then you will be known or seen after fully exiting or seen entering. The doors themselves can be placed in a way that they are not seen until used.

  1. Where you choose to anchor them is a one time choice made 72 hours of accepting them. Only one chance to change their location - at the cost of loss of use for 1 year. Two doors. Two locations. One chance to reset any or both doors - loss of use of the door you changed for one year.

  2. You cannot use the portals to "find" or "discover" lost civilizations or hypothetical places or things. No going to the "Lost City of Atlantis" or locating the "Lost Treasure of El Dorado".

The sprit of the doors is transportation. Not discovery. The doors can be creative on their own without leading you to mythical places. Only real, places on earth that can be configured via a latitude or longitude, depth or altitude if you plan on deep sea exploration or mid air dropp offs - (save money on having to take a plane to jump out of it - just put the portal in the middle of the sky and enter it with a parachute - select "materialize" if you want to "pop out" in the air or "pass through" if you want to "jump".

  1. While the doors and owning the doors is free from consequence, the use of them is not.

CONSIDER THIS.

  1. You can choose materialize or arrive as a pass through.

  2. No place on Earth is off limits - as long as it can be found on a map, entered as latitude and longitude or named outright.

The location is not limited, but your ability to travel through the door may be restricted if you attempt to access a place a human being cannot physically enter. For example - a door to the center of a mountain - yeah, it opens and you materialize embedded in rock, or the door opens and you are staring at rock.

  1. Your transporting is not visible or detectable, but the second you are through the door, you will be seen and will have whatever consequences that may come from entering the space you chose.

Example - a door to a bank vault - you go in and rob the bank. Well, you might get caught somehow through forensics or just plain being seen on camera in the vault.

  1. The doors will open only with YOUR opening them. You may not designate a proxy. YOU must be there to open them for anyone you want to let use.

Consider where you put the doors they are anchored in a location that you have legal access to at any time.

There is one sideuse the doors can offer - but they still abide by rules of one reset per door per lifetime.

You can use them to locate a lost pet or child without a one year waiting period.

Save a reset for a possible lost pet or child?

EDIT BEFORE ANYONE MADE A COMMENT - I realized that I wasn't as specific about where the doors originate - they are supposed to originate at your home or your place of business or some place that YOU have unlimited access to - the DOORS DO NOT GIVE YOU UNLIMITED ACCESS TO THE PLACE THEY RESIDE.

You're presented with 5 buttons

Once pressed, the button stays activated.

Button 1: Health

Button 2: Wealth

Button 3: Love

Button 4: Time

Button 5: Happiness

Activating a button ensures you have an abundance of what that button represents. Not activating a button ensures the faster-than-average deterioration of what that button represents.

The buttons only affect you. E.g. if Time button is activated, you will have more free time. Unactivated, you will always be busy.

You may only press two of the 5 buttons. Which of the two do you press?
