Anyone in Houston's industrial trades seeing more work from all these data center projects?

I've been following the growth in electricity demand across Texas pretty closely through my work in industrial power markets.

With all the data centers coming into ERCOT, I'm curious if that demand is actually translating into more work for local electrical contractors, engineering firms, and industrial service companies.

Are y'all seeing more projects, higher pay, or longer lead times? Especially curious about those working across manufacturing plants, chemical facilities, and other industrial sites around Houston.

Part Time Shop Assistant Opportunities?

Currently looking for a second job.

Does anyone know of any wood/metal fabrication shops that may be looking for part time help around the shop?

I have experience working in labor for construction/ remodeling companies and also college level certificates for maintenance and CNC (though it’s been a few years).

My main job is bartending for venues which is an ever-changing schedule, but mostly confined to evenings and weekends.

Looking for a place to learn new skills/trades, and open up better opportunities for my future.

Thanks in advance for any potential information!

HIRING Local CDL jobs

Any CDL A local jobs hiring in Houston? I currently work for a beer distribution and have been with them for over 3 years, started as a yard driver, got my experience and then moved to delivering beer and got my CDL A. Its been wearing me out, only reason I haven’t left was because of the schedule. I only work 4 days a week ,40 hours weekly total. But it’s time to move on and make more money. If anyone has any suggestions. I would love to hear them, Ive been wanting to get to containers or dump trucks. Not sure which one is better. It’s hard to find no touch freight in houston locally.

Hiring Warehouse Employee

Gorilla Manufacturing is hiring for a warehouse employee. Duties include building pallets, palletizing shipments, driving forklift, boxing, loading and unloading trucks and other general tasks around the warehouse.

Initially part time with opportunities to go full time in the future.

Pay starts at $20/hr with increases as your knowledge of our process grows.

Preference given to applicants with any of the following experience: Sit down forklift, loading pallets, woodworking with power tools including chop saws and nail guns, painting with paint guns, driving a pickup truck with trailer.

Notes for applicants: This is a semi-outdoor position. Our warehouse is not climate controlled. You must be able to work in the heat in summer and cold in winter. City of Houston hiring process?

I applied and was aelected for a position. I've submitted all my stuff to HR and taken a drug test and then I never heard back. I messaged HR and she said they were still working to verify all of my info and that it would take a couple more weeks. Has anyone else here been hired by the city? How long did you generally have to wait? It's been 6 weeks by now so Im wondering if they just decided to go with someone else or if it really is that extensive of a process.

IT Pro who wants to work for a therapist's office/mental health facility

I have been in IT for 6 years and into computers since I was a kid. I am looking for more fulfillment at work and I would like to stay in IT. Mental health is something I am passionate about. I am also passionate about IT, specifically identity security. I currently handle many functions of managing our Microsoft environment and there is not much I can't do. If I can't do it, I can learn and love to do so.

If you are in this field, do you hire your own IT/system administrator or do you use an outside company? I believe this may be the most common answer.

Does anyone know how I could find a specific job like this? I am thinking If I look up some offices in my area that is a good start.

I also know Reddit users are super crafty which is why I'm here 😉 I appreciate you taking a look at this.

Data centers are changing the industry.

I work in a Houston area refinery & we are losing a lot of craftsmen to data centers. They are paying 10-15$ an hour over refinery pay & a LOT more per diem per day. Boilermaker, welders, tool room & I have not heard about the millwright. Not sure if the industry is changing for them. Any leads on Texas data center jobs or thoughts on the change?
