Discussion Were the journey all started
It is surreal to me how this is the earliest of Mihoyo's games being on YouTube and it is possibly their first YouTube channel before they become a fully fledged company.

Official Media Carnival and Seele supply banners tomorrow
Note: Carnival supply cycles through 2 characters in 1 week. After that week 2 other characters enter the banners.
The pity carries to the next characters, but when the Carnival supply is completely gone it will reset the pity for the new set of characters.

Discussion What if after 9.2 Vita DLC, they are the other Stellar Key candidates?
Hear me out, I noticed that for the current Stellar Keys, there are only one (atm) for each type of weapons:
- Pistol - HoFi Kiana
- Bow - HoHE Elysia
- Scythe - HoRb Seele
- Cross - LV Luna
- Heavy Canon - SW Bronya
- Fist - FoV Hua
and by 9.2,
- Drive Core - LP Vita
So what if for future Stellar Keys it'll continue like this? This means from the current AR S-ranks we have, the candidates are
- Chained Blade - MPS Thelema
- aside from her there's also SIMP Theresa, but she's already replaced by WoP Seele
- Trick Staff - JDS Songque (the only user of this weapon type so far)
- Rapid-Shot Crossbow - PAWS Helia
- aside from her there's also LDS Lantern, but she's already replaced by HoTi Dreamseeker
- Rocket Hammer - BFDD Coralie
- Javelin - RS Durandal (the only user of this weapon type so far)
- Blade - XDC Mei
There will be no more Nyx DLC because she's Scythe user, but I think that's fine cause she's older than SW battlesuit which makes her damage scaling much worse + her QUA niche. Instead, giving her a new battlesuit seems better especially now that they have new model for Seele they can based for other Seele (Veliona) battlesuit.
Just some random thoughts I have earlier while looking at the list of Stellar Keys and thinking if I should buy FoV and how can I pull her weapon with just less than 1k crystals. Also while thinking of 9.2 v1 leaks which should come out by this Friday and if I can even afford to get Vita's DLC weapon.

Discussion The “Skin-Suit Theory” Scandal and Its Connection to HI3
I don’t know whether this news ever reached the HI3 fandom (I remember seeing it mentioned on the Genshin and HSR subreddits), but I think it’s an interesting situation to discuss, especially since our beloved game, HI3, is also involved in this huge scandal and actually occupies a particularly significant place in the whole story. More specifically, two characters from the game are involved: Elysia and Fu Hua.
About a year or two ago, rumors about something known in the Chinese fandom as the “皮套论”—the “skin-suit theory” began circulating throughout the Chinese HoYoverse gaming community. In Chinese, this term is largely derogatory. It refers to the theory that a particular character was inspired by, or serves as an avatar for, a real person, usually someone working at HoYoverse in the context of this particular controversy.
Two fairly well-known bloggers, “Freeman Miba” and “Joker” (also known as “Insider Brother”), maliciously fabricated and spread rumors about the so-called skin-suit theory on the NGA forums and Bilibili in order to generate negative publicity and monetize the resulting traffic. Eventually, they faced legal consequences and were ordered to pay 430,000 yuan in damages and issue public apologies for deliberately fabricating rumors. (The first attached image shows their apology published in a popular newspaper.)
This is a brief summary of what happened, but there are some interesting details worth discussing. Namely, how did such relatively primitive rumors escalate into a legal dispute in the first place? After all, this news also reached the Western fandom, yet the discussion never went beyond pointless arguments on Twitter.
The answer is simple- it all comes down to the Chinese fandom.
HI3 players have already encountered its rather “unusual” perception of fictional characters before(the Bunny Girl Incident is a good example.)More specifically, this has to do with the idealized and possessive way some fans view their waifus.
Throughout Asian media culture, there is a strong tendency to idolize fictional characters. A fan-favorite character must not be “defiled” in any way. As we’ve already seen, practically anything can be considered such a violation, from putting a character in a bunny-girl outfit to making an allegedly inappropriate plot decision. And when something like this happens, the ensuing wave of hate and real-life cyberbullying can be overwhelming.
In gacha-game fandoms, where the games are designed in part around collecting characters and cultivating a waifu appeal, this issue becomes even more pronounced. Regardless of how you look at it, the largest segment of the player base consists of male otaku, particularly when we’re talking about HI3.
For this reason, the rumors spread by Freeman Miba and Joker involved some of the most popular characters in the Chinese fandom: Firefly from HSR, and Elysia and Fu Hua from HI3. There were other candidates as well, but the discussions surrounding them were far less widespread and didn’t have such catastrophic consequences. Topaz from HSR, for example, was also implicated. After all, these people were desperately trying to find something to criticize, no matter how insignificant, just to make their “theory” seem more plausible.
A little background on these characters’ popularity: all three are practically idols within the Chinese fandom.
Firefly is adored as the ideal waifu by practically every conventional standard. Elysia, the “flirtatious pink fairy,” is also considered a perfect waifu in the eyes of otaku. And Hua, the beautiful- suffering Celestial who represents and protects China, attracts an equally devoted following.
As for HI3 specifically, these two characters are arguably its most popular ones, both in terms of the amount of fan content they receive and the prices and sheer volume of their merchandise. Merchandise prices can be a useful indicator of popularity: the more frequently a character’s products sell, the more likely HoYoverse is to raise the prices of subsequent merchandise featuring that character.
Elysia and Hua are far more popular in these respects than even the game’s three main heroines, attracting entire cult-like communities of extremely devoted fans.
Let’s start with Elysia. One theory suggested that she was a “prototype for Shaoji” or was based on his girlfriend. In my opinion, this sounds more amusing and absurd than genuinely “offensive.” However, the situation did not result in any major fallout for those involved, because at the time, most of the controversy was overshadowed by Firefly, who was also allegedly inspired by Shaoji’s girlfriend and supposedly bore more “obvious similarities” to her.
These two bloggers apparently dug up information claiming that Shaoji’s girlfriend suffered from a serious illness, although there is no evidence to substantiate this. They then further associated this disturbing rumor with the character, and it wasn’t long before a wave of “offended” fans appeared.
The backlash became so severe that both the writer and his girlfriend had to delete their Weibo accounts. They received threats and messages wishing them death…
Fu Hua’s case is even more interesting.
The same infamous bloggers spread rumors claiming that Fu Hua was a “skin-suit” for a senior female employee at the company who supposedly shared the character’s name and birthday. They published what appeared to be a fabricated document that contained no concrete information beyond the woman’s name and position.
But that wasn’t even the worst part. Freeman Miba and Joker also revealed this alleged employee’s Weibo account and shared screenshots of her posts. In them, the woman supposedly made some rather unflattering comments about “Chinese values” (unfortunately, I was never able to find specific details about what values she was referring to), spoke rudely about other people, and horror of horrors allegedly said that “hetero ships are trash, while yaoi is great.” That’s not a word-for-word quotation, but it conveys the meaning as precisely as I can. I think many people who followed that controversy probably came across screenshots of this woman’s Weibo posts.
These rumors caused an absolute explosion in the Chinese fandom. The community’s beloved character, a representative of China, was supposedly the “avatar” of someone considered rude and “inappropriate” by the community’s standards.
Naturally, another wave of cyberbullying followed, and the woman’s account was deleted. (She even personally stated that she had absolutely nothing to do with the creation of Fu Hua as a character.)
I’d like to remind you that no evidence was ever presented to substantiate these claims beyond the statements made by Freeman Miba and Joker themselves. Nevertheless, the rumors alone were enough to trigger a massive scandal and an outright backlash against HoYoverse.
To understand just how intense the discontent and absurdity within the community had become at the time, I’ve attached several examples of discussions from NGA, a popular Chinese forum. Many of these screenshots are from 2024, when the rumors reached their peak.
However, after HoYoverse won the legal case, people began returning to those old discussion threads to mock the sheer stupidity and absurdity of the rumors. It’s worth noting that even during the scandal itself, there were reasonable people who pointed out how ridiculous the whole situation was. Nevertheless, the community only really calmed down after the controversy took on a legal dimension in 2026.
From our perspective, this might seem like a trivial matter, and for the most part, even a ridiculous one. But to a suspicious and fiercely “devoted” segment of the Chinese fanbase, these allegations constituted a direct insult to their feelings toward their favorite character.
For HoYoverse itself, however, this was a genuine problem and a major blow to its reputation. The entire company operates around the philosophy of “tech otakus save the world,” yet this situation struck at what is arguably the most sacred thing to otaku: their waifus.
That’s why such severe measures were taken and why the matter was pursued in court. They were practically necessary to clear the company’s name of these malicious rumors and restore the trust of the Chinese fandom.
