“Yeah but if you don’t spill it on your hands it’s fine” - the foreman, probably.

Safety squints, skin gloves and tee shirt respirator. Welcome to Safety Third!

Safety third is sort of a joke, but also misunderstood.
First - is it cool? If not, it doesn't matter if it's safe, we're not going to do it. Cool? OK proceed to the next check.
Second - is it possible for us? If not, why bother, doesn't matter if it's safe. Viable? OK proceed to safety.
Third - is it safe? If it is, then we're good to go.
The "safety third" call-out was originally meant to be a "that's not something you should be doing anyway" flag.

Carol never wore her safety goggles, now she doesn’t need them!

I always wanted to make up a follow up sign to this. 'What color cane do you want? Not that you will know. ' and have Carol walking with 4 different colored canes.

Missed opportunity to say “dropping acid”

Yeah, this is much different than how my buddies and I used to drop acid. I actually think ours may have been slightly less harmful to our health.

Later that day at the sewage treatment plant.....

Yeah, I was wondering what happens if you just dump fifteen gallons of acid down a drain. Where does the mustard gas that doesn’t go straight back out go?

This sort of thing happened to me when I worked at a vet as a teenager. We took all the dogs out to do a deep clean. Some idiot just took bottles of bleach and dumped them in all the dirty stalls and left it. I came in later and couldn't breathe. My chest was on fire. Ammonia (dog pee) + bleach created chloramine gas

An old boss of mine told me a story about working at the sewage treatment plant. He and another guy were cleaning a tank and added something that reacted with the remaining water. He said they barely got out of the tank before suffocating. Apparently the tank should have been completely empty, lol
