Do you see a “for you” tab at the very top of your feed?

Ok. Switch over to “following “ you’ll only see the subs you are subscribed to.

You can limit your feed to only the communities you have joined by turning off home feed recommendations.
On the Reddit website:
-
Visit your preferences.
-
Turn off the toggle next to "Show recommendations in home feed."
On iOS or Android:
-
Go to your account settings.
-
Scroll down to "Privacy."
-
Turn off the toggle for "Show recommendations in home feed."
-
If you have For You and Following tabs at the top of your feed, For You includes recommendations, while Following shows content only from communities you’ve joined and users you follow. More about these feeds.

I already deleted a long standing account because of that experiment. Now I'm in another experiment?

Me either, at least on my phone's browser. Lots of older posts mention this preferences tab so maybe it changed recently.
Posts from subs I visited but don't follow (and some I never visited) started appearing this afternoon.
Switching the toggle at the top of my feed from "for you" to "following" seems to work.

Apparently it is an A/B thing. You either have the tabs on your feed OR the option in the preferences. It looks to me like the intention is to eventually remove the option altogether for what other reason could there be to remove the settings option. They want to slowly boil the frog to get you used to the suggestions in your home feed. Im sure soon enough the tab will default to "for you" no matter how often you change it considering that's how I got here to begin with.

That's what Twitter did, what Facebook did, so why would Reddit keep its unique features and not follow its main competitors a decade late?
And yes this is a cynical and slightly sarcastic comment.
