Question Big guy
What are the options for a 6 ft 300# man? Been using a cot tent, but that’s a lot to pack in the back of my SxS.

6 foot, been 280 at times. I think the dream hammock sizing is on point, with some extra inches to account for the extra belt loops. I think an 11 foot hammock with some extra width - 68 inches feels real nice.
Narrow hammocks are going to squeeze in on your shoulders.
A Dream Hammock Wingspan should be 70 inches wide in 1.7mtn-xl. It’s a great hammock. Rated up to 325. If you haven’t hammock camped before, get a symmetrical lay so you can figure out what is comfortable for you.
If that price is too much, onewind’s 11 foot is 64 inches and is a nice hammock in its own right.

There are a ton of hammocks that will work for you. You'll want one which is 11 ft long and 68 inches or more wide.
Any dream hammock in 1.7 mnt xl.
Dutchware's Chameleon in 1.6 hexon wide. You could do a double layer.
A simply light designs trail lair in 1.6 hexon wide, 1.7 mnt xl, or hex 2.2.
If you just want a netless hammock, a simply light designs starter would be a great choice in hexon wide.

I don't know about options for gathered end type hammocks specifically, but if you're interested in looking at a bridge hammock I can say the BGBH from Townsend is a nice option. I got it so my spouse and a friend who were hammock curious could give it a shot. My spouse ended up in a Helsdon (which is another decent option) and my friend decided he's still a ground dweller. https://thisgearsforyou.com/bridge-lineup/
I intend to eventually get a Luxury as I want to see if the softer feel to it is even more comfortable, but the BGBH is good for me for now. I sleep in a hammock indoors as well as out and when my current indoor hammock needs to be replaced I'm going to rearrange my room so I can hang the BGBH inside.

That big guy might be out of my price range for a first buy

Understandable. They do pop up every once in a while on gear trade or hammockforums.
Also if you can get to a group hang, sometimes there are gear trade tables/options there too.

Any of the Hennessy XXL Safaris are rated to 350 but my personal favorite is the Amok Draumr 5.0 XL

That does look like a comfy design

I'm 6'3" 280 and I sleep like a baby in the Amok. And it doesn't require an UQ.

check out the Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. they have a few double layer options that have you covered.
Dutch makes great stuff, but he's kind of an asshole and I feel weird supporting his business after alot of the (albeit savy) moves he's made.

Others covered the hammock size. Look just as hard at the suspension rating, because a lot of the cheap kits ship with straps and carabiners rated lower than the hammock itself. Sitting down hard is when all of it gets tested.

5'11 and 270ish. Ive been using a Grand Trunks Trunktech hammock for probably 5 years. I've seen some negative reviews and comments about them, but ive had many nights of great sleep in it. I changed the suspension up and ive used a cheap Amazon underquilt with snugpack jungle blanket down to 40 degrees.
