Hey guys! I previously made a post discussing some of the things surrounding GTA 6. If you haven’t read it yet, here’s the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/GTA/s/kT9ssm7TfE
Since then, I’ve learned a bit more about the game, and I wanted to share an update on some of the criticisms people have been making about GTA 6. I think there are some reasonable explanations for why Rockstar is making certain decisions.
**1. The 30 FPS Debate**
When it was announced that GTA 6 would run at 30 FPS, a lot of people were disappointed that we wouldn’t be getting 60 FPS.
However, we need to remember that we’re playing on hardware that’s around six years old. GTA 6 is an incredibly ambitious game, with a huge number of NPCs, detailed animations, advanced graphics and ray tracing. All of these things require a lot of processing power.
Getting a game like GTA 6 running smoothly on current-generation consoles is already a massive technical achievement. Rockstar has clearly prioritised the overall experience and the amount of detail in the world rather than simply targeting a higher frame rate.
I’d recommend watching this video if you want to understand the technical side of things and why achieving 60 FPS could be difficult:

**2. The Physical Disc Situation**
It was just revealed that GTA 6 is going to be around 210 GB, and I think this explains why we’re not getting a physical disc.
A game that big would require three or four discs to fit the entire game. For Take-Two and Rockstar, producing that many discs would cost a lot of money, which is why I think we’re getting a digital code instead of an actual disc.
Think about it: if the game is 210 GB, it would need multiple discs to fit everything on them. Producing and distributing three or four discs for a single game would be expensive, so I can understand why Rockstar might have decided to go with a digital code instead.
Personally, I understand why people are disappointed, especially those of us who prefer collecting physical games. However, I think the game’s massive size could help explain why Rockstar is going in this direction.
**3. The Pricing**
My opinion on the pricing hasn’t changed from my original post. If you want to know my thoughts on that, check out the link at the beginning of this post.
**Final Thoughts**
Anyway, that’s my updated take on some of the criticism surrounding GTA 6.
I’m not saying Rockstar should be immune to criticism, and I understand why people have concerns about frame rates, physical copies and pricing. However, I also think it’s worth considering the technical and financial challenges behind some of these decisions before judging them.
I’m incredibly excited for GTA 6. The fact that we’re about to experience a game of this scale on current-generation consoles is amazing, and I can’t wait to play as Jason and Lucia and explore everything Rockstar has created.
We’re getting closer every day, and I honestly can’t wait!
Just three more Thursdays!
