Gold Coast for a night
Hey All, fishing on Saturday on the Gold Coast, got a 5am meetup with friends. Any place to park up and sleep in the back of the car Friday night that wouldn’t have drunks tapping on my car window?
Thanks!

Local Question 30M looking for friends to socialise with in Gold Coast.
Hey guys. 30M here, South Asian. Moved to GC earlier this year. I work as a doctor at GCUH. Looking to find like minded friends of either gender to socialise with. I’m into hiking, long drives, beach outings, escape rooms and trivia nights(suck at pop culture though!). I love cooking so if you want a spicy South Indian meal or some smash burgers, I’m your guy. I’m quite flexible (figuratively), would love to meet people for a drink, outdoorsy things, group activities.
A little background - was working in Sydney for a year before moving here and in the UK for a few years before, did uni in India. I’m free most evenings and weekends.
Feel free to drop a DM if anyone is keen to hangout.

Local Politics 850 a week for mold in southport? yeah im officially out.
Finally threw the towel in on fighting this insane rental market. Love the coast but the landlords here have completely lost the plot. We are officially packing up and doing the whole removals from australia to UK thing next month before we go entirely broke
Honestly the only part of this entire week that hasn't made me want to scream is the fact that Simpsons Removals came and took all our heavy boxes today so I dont have to look at them in my living room anymore.
Gonna miss the burleigh headland walks so much but my god I will not miss dealing with GC real estate agents.

Travel Tow Bar on Highway
somebody didn’t secure their load properly tonight and about 40 cars hit an ENTIRE tow bar on the highway, right near Pappas Way exit to Nerang. i think i was the first car who hit it because there was not a soul, but by the time we got the tow vehicle around to tow my car away there was victims everywhere. insane dude, thankfully nobody seemed harmed.

PCYC Gym reviews
Hey guys, I’m a 26-year-old male living in Ashmore, currently training at Snap Fitness without a PT.
I recently saw some Facebook ads about PCYC offering free fitness plans, and the membership also seems more affordable than Snap Fitness.
Has anyone here trained at PCYC on the Gold Coast? How are the equipment, facilities, and overall gym environment? Are the free fitness plans actually useful?
I’m considering switching from Snap Fitness, so I’d love to hear your experiences and whether you think it’s worth it. Cheers!

Craving a Simple, Gooey Chocolate Cake – Any GC Recommendations?
I'm on the hunt for a really nice, moist chocolate cake. I recently went to Dssrt and tried the Matilda Cake. I'm not sure why they serve it with vanilla ice cream, as it ruined the texture and overall taste of the chocolate cake. All I want is a simple, gooey chocolate cake. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've been craving one for about two years now. I tried one in Brisbane that was the best I've ever had! Any recommendations on the Gold Coast?

Foam on the beach
Can someone please tell me about the foam on the beach.
I know the seas have been rough, but why is some of it white and other bits sandy.
Why does some disappear and other bits remain on the waterline

Looking for info or reviews on this company
Has anyone heard of or used this bloke or company before please?
Propac Mobile Car Spray service
Edit: I have tried all other search avenues first. Came to Reddit after exhausting other avenues. Trying to determine if this is a legitimate company or not.
Please pm me (if you prefer) if you have any experience using this business. TIA.

Local Question What happened to Surfers?
Some background - I grew up in Melbourne and used to holiday in Surfers Paradise in the late 80s, all through the 90s and early 2000s. It was vibrant, touristy - in a fun way, relatively safe.. Cavill used to have this cool feel about it like a mini Hollywood.. So many fun memories! We moved to the Sunshine Coast 9 years ago and only just recently went back for a getaway on the Gold Coast. I was so shocked! When did the change happen? Was it sudden or did the area gradually get worse? Cavill has this awful, run down, dystopian feel. But then a random busy restaurant or bar here and there. We got a tram which was an interesting choice. I just cannot believe how sad it was. I realise that I’m completely out of the loop, but curious from locals, why did this happen? What went wrong? Is there a council plan to improve things? How does everyone living on the GC view Surfers?

Family of 5 considering a move from Melbourne to the Gold Coast. Looking for advice from anyone who's done something similar
Hey everyone,
hoping for some outside perspective.
My parents are seriously considering moving our family from Melbourne to the Gold Coast (Main Beach and surrounds). I originally thought it was one of those "talked about forever but never happens" ideas, but they're pretty set on it now. My younger siblings (19 and 16) are keen too. Mum plans to keep our Melbourne house and rent on the Coast for the first year, so we'd have a home to come back to while we see where we want to settle.
I'm 21 and I'm the one struggling with it. My partner of 5 years has to be in Sydney for work from about February to September each year, so I split my time between Sydney and Melbourne, flying back and forth around my job. Melbourne is my home base, where my friends are and where I live with my family when I'm not in Sydney. If my family moves, I'd be juggling Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast, and I'm worried I'd end up with no real "home" anywhere.
I struggled to make friends at school, so I'm proud of the life and friend group I've built in Melbourne. I'm really close with my family and love living with them, and Mum doesn't want me moving out either, which is part of why we're keeping the house. But I don't love change, and I'm not sure how I'd build a life on the Coast while my job, friends and partner are elsewhere.
A few questions:
Has anyone moved to the GC with adult or near-adult kids?
How did it go?
For those who moved at 20 or so, how did you make friends when you're not at uni and working full time?
Any tips for the 16-year-old (school options, settling in) or the 19-year-old?
Anyone done the "keep the old house and trial it for a year" approach? Did it help or just delay the decision?
Any advice for juggling three cities, or for relationships where one person is often away?
Also just a note I dont/ wont just pack up my whole life and move I can’t see that working for me it’s just navigating the potential change and what others think!?
I can't find much online for families at this stage of life, so any experiences or honest opinions would be really
appreciated.
Thank you!

Can anyone at Harbour Town at moment confirm if Nike is at 50% off ?
Kinda long drive from where I am. If not the case then would have wasted time and precious diesel 😄
Tried ringing them but no answer. Cheers !

Local Question Old kebab/meat on chips store
I visited the GC on holiday late 2019, and got some awesome meat on chips just off the motorway. Big portions and they let you pour your own sauce. It was near one of the theme parks (possibly Dreamworld), and potentially near a row of shops with a subway.
I'm currently in the GC on holiday again and would really like to visit again if it's still around. I know it's quite vague, but I'm hoping a local may know or remember something. Thanks in advance for anything.

Gold Coast 500 - On the bridge
To the lady who I was chatting with on the bridge for half an hour this afternoon… thanks for the non-losable stubbie cubby !! It went straight to the pool room.
And if you’re on here … keen on a drink before you go ? 😀

To the young man playing basketball at Westfield Coomera this afternoon
I was out with my near 5 year old son this afternoon at Coomera Westfield. We've watched Goat recently so he's super into basketball at moment. There was a young man playing at the basketball court. My son walked over to watch closer, when the young man invited him over to play.
He played with, encouraged and praised my son, and went so far to ask my permission to put my son on his shoulders so he could get a goal. He missed but oh well.
Thank you for showing kindness to my son. If you happen to see this, you really made my son's day and he's been raving about you since, and keeps wanting to see the pictures I took. You should be proud. My son mentioned to me after "that boy was really kind to me". Again, thank you.
