I got my friend to watch Girls recently and after they watched it we were discussing it and they said I was a total Jessa, and kept going on about how much of a Jessa I was. And everytime I take the test Im her, lol.
I hate it because I see myself in her, just a really chaotic and unstable background, insecure, etc. I’m also going through like a huge life change recently and Idk, I know what my friend says isn’t that big of a deal but I’d like to at least know somebody sees something positive in her character lol

The song is called "Everyone's Gonna Get High" and plays at the end of S2E3 when Hannah is high off coke and starts randomly hooking up with Laird.
I can't find it anywhere except SoundCloud but boy am I obsessed: https://on.soundcloud.com/xFxfjBKlV9AXPwsuC2
This is the same band who produced Tongue Tied, Ways to Go, Colours, Itchin On a Photograph, and so many other hits! Think the song is definitely worth checking out so just wanted to share.
Also, please let me know if anyone can find it on an official streaming platform. I couldn't find it on Apple Music and that's all I have.

After rewatching Season 2 episode 7 ‘Video Games’ when Hannah goes with Jessa to visit her dad then the episode where Hannah, Adam & Shosh drive to east bumble fuck to pickup Jessa from rehab just for Jessa & Adam to hook up is something I cannot get past. Hannah looked at Jessa as a sister. I hate that it was written into the show.
I am so ready to see where the girls are at when it comes back out next year.
What are your all theories?

Finally watched Girls after it has been sitting on my list for nearly a year. I tried to start it a few times throughout the year but finally started and stuck to it. I feel like I need to talk about it to truly feel like I can close the chapter lol.
I’m in my early 20’s and holy hell, I feel like I know people almost as insufferable as the characters. It really hit the nail on the coffin with the selfishness and woe is me -ism.
I lost my dad almost 2 years ago and I feel like I truly saw people’s real selfishness. Obviously I’m not perfect and I’ve had bad moments as well, but I don’t think I would’ve been friends with any of the characters had it been real life.
I was hoping Hannah would get her happy ending, which some may argue the last clip of the last episode is so… but I can’t agree. The scene of her talking to the younger girl on her walk may have been to portray Hannah realizing she was once that girl. But I wish they showed more character development for Hannah before the show ending. Like true clarity on her overcoming the woe is me-ism.
I would love feedback as I really want to yap away about this. Also after reading r/girls, it seems like there’s a reboot to come? Can someone provide more insight.
Overall, I loved the show. Helped me heal with friendships I lost after my dad passed due to pure narcissism. But that’s a topic for another day.

Ok so amidst the announcement of the reboot, i was obvyyy excited to rewatch the series. This is my 3rd time… but it’s been several years. Was Marnie always this selfish and insufferable? Is jt because I’m pushing 40? Gosh I hope to goodness mid-twenties me wasn’t as bad. 🤣posting here cuz I desperately wish my friends had also watched this show.

I’m about 80% sure this song is in Girls, but I just scrolled through 300 songs and didn’t find it. Anyway, it has an old - 60s or 70s pop feel. There are lyrics like “the same about you,” and “this heart of mine.” It sounds like a young person singing, more innocent. It sounds a little like This Old Heart of Mine by the Isley Bros or the Supremes. But, it’s slower and less poppy.
Help, please! It’s driving me crazy.

i love skipping around the series. Rockabilly Caroline just bit him then Ray found his twin at the bar.

doing a rewatch and noticing. episode 1 opens with hannah & marnie in bed together, episode 2 opens with hannah & elijah in bed together and now episode 3 with hannah & adam. i've never noticed this before but i love that each season has the same opening sequence but with a different person hannah is in bed with. i just needed someone to share my revelation with. little things like this are my favorite lol

Featuring Lena - on Channel 4
What do you think? I'm enjoying it so far and loved seeing Lena as always, she was so funny.

On my first rewatch after finishing Famesick. I'm enjoying it much more than I remember. There was so much I forgot.
This episode I just watched is so intense and amazing. Hannah breaking down and Laird cutting her hair, and Shosh breaking it off with Ray with these epic lines.

I love Hannah and Marnie. Hannah and Elijah, Shosh and Ray as friends, Marnie and Ray when they were a secret not their actual relationship. Jessa and Hannah prior A and J.

Okay, not really. But last nite, I watched the first two eps of Nobody Wants This, and there was Alex Karpovsky, all grumpy, sardonic rabbi, and there was Andrew Rannells, all bitchy foxy gay, on the same episode. Not together, sadly, but still, I kind of squealed. Andrew is in a Jewish conversion class (led by Sarah Silverman) with Kristen Bell's character, and they pretty much immediately hate one another (mostly cuz, I think, they're both used to being the cutest one in the room and don't like the competition) Kristen's character, last nite anyway, reminded me a little of Hannah, as she's so self involved and certain that her back story will be the most moving and impactful, when, in fact, pretty much nobody cares. "Cute story" Andrew sniffs at her. I love him so much.
Also, last nite, I accidentally caught an episode of Elsbeth, which isn't a show I actually watch. However, in the first few minutes, we saw 2 sisters--named Winter and Summer-- performing on an America's Got Talent kind of show, and one sister, Summer, gets picked and the Winter is dismissed. Cut to several years later: and Winter is now the CEO of a Goop-like luxury lifestyle brand called Kreem. And she's now played by Jemima Kirke, looking fabulous in drapey trousers and artfully swathed cozy sweaters, her hair in a low chignon, her lipstick perfect. Unlike Jessa's sexy messy bohemian style, she's very sleek and chic and Parisian-looking. I had to watch the whole episode, just to see her.
So this really did whet my appetite for more Girls. I can't wait.

But that’s the point. BUT I feel so drawn to Hanna for some reason. Like I can fully acknowledge Hanna is a self absorbed narcissistic un self aware careless character so WHYYY do I feel so in tune with her 😭 is it because I am also 13 lbs over weight and it’s also been hard for me my whole life.

not really a question. more my long winded thoughts that if anyone cares to weigh in on as well, whatever -
Marnie is truly the hardest to watch character. I think my first time watching I really did not understand her, and when rewatching, I actually felt her deeply in my core. I'd say it was mainly through her relationships, her reactions and absorption of her partners, (attachment to Charlie only after the breakup, longing for Desi with complete blindness to who he was), that this began happening.
Anywayyyyyy, with the reboot happening (idk how I feel about it, but I will ofc be watching), I'm seeing a few "where will they be now" speculation posts. The main thread with Marnie is that she'll have cycled through a few more marriages/divorces, failed attempts at her singing career, quite a few different variations of her own journey of becoming a mother etc, and basically just insinuating she'll be the exact same character we saw in the original series.
I do agree that those things track for her, and have probably happened in the time since the reboot, but I've got hopes and dreams that she is someone who has since learned to look back, reflect and learn! I've got a vision we're gonna be seeing a grounded Marnie, she's tuned in to the ambition and confidence that's always been there, and found a way to hone in on it without allowing herself to get misguided by her own neurosis and finding validation in others.
Initial Marnie hater, long time lover.
