I hear a lot that there isn't much to do in Gippsland. Well on the 14th at the Morwell Convention and Reception Centre (Morwell Bowling Club) Gippsland Pro Wrestling returns after a some time off.

Grab yourself a feed at the restaurant, then come watch all action and entertainment of GPW.

Doors open at 7pm Bell time 7:30pm

Hi all, it’s been a while since I’ve posted here. For anyone who doesn’t know me, I’m Kane and I run Gippslander, a local job website for Gippsland.

The feedback and suggestions you gave on my previous posts were amazing, and a lot of it shaped how the site works today, so thank you.

I wanted to post again because we keep hearing from locals how important it is right now to find work close to home. With fuel, rent and groceries all going up, a long commute has become a real cost, and plenty of people would rather work in their own town if the right job is there.

It’s been really rewarding to hear from people who’ve found work through the site, and from local businesses who’ve hired someone nearby. That’s what it’s all about for us.

If you’re looking for work in Gippsland, you can find us at https://gippslander.com.au

Thanks again for all the support.

Kane

What the title says. I’ve found work nearby and want to start examining my finances to see if I can afford living in a basic Moe unit, likely with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Can anyone living in the area give me a rough estimate?

Hi Gippslanders. Moving to the area in a few weeks. My husband is Cuban and would like to know if there are any Latinos in the area for a bit of salsa dancing and/or catching up occasionally.

My family and I recently moved from QLD to the Latrobe Valley. I'm a 30M with a wife and young baby and have moved here for the fishing and hunting.

Hoping to meet some like minded people who are keen for a trip out locally, or some further a-field camping adventures.

Im 31M and have been enjoying the nightlife a fair bit lately. Love going to Melb for a good session.

Are there any decent places around here? I dont mind Starbar in Tgon but it gets old quick and is fairly quiet a lot of the time. Timeless is alright too but not loud enough for my liking.

I love good dance music preferably with a DJ/live music with possible song requests accepting. Pref the age range of customers 25-40.

Love meeting people and dancing with people on the dance floor.

Anyone have advice or experience recently with high schools. Looking public and private in leongatha and mirboo north.

Looking for somewhere that will be good academically and has zero tolerance for bullies.

Thank you!

It's a really solitary, isolating hobby, but I enjoy collecting old VHS tapes (taped from TV) to digitise and archive lost media content online for other people to enjoy, like old forgotten shows, news updates, old ads (especially old ads) etc. I love the meaning that this random, historical content can have with each individual who connects with it, whether nostalgic, educational, personal experience, etc.

I know there's loads of people out there into this, but they're really spread out geographically.

Is anyone else around here (in the region) into this (or similar activity), and would like to connect over it, with the goal of just nerding out about it, exchanging stuff or forming possible friendships? Possible meetup group if a few of you exist in the area?

Hi all, have been putting it off for a little while and think I may need a couple of fillings so I’d love your recommendations for dentists in the Latrobe Valley area. Friendly, well priced would be much appreciated. Cheers!

I want to find the Giant Gippsland earthworm. I've wanted to see one of these things for years and I finally have the chance to visit Australia and I'll be in the general region.

Is their a guide or any tours? I see that the South Gippsland Land Care Network had a work shop in the past but nothing current.

Unfortunately the museum for them has closed so I'm lost on how to proceed.

Please help a worm enthusiast out.

Our book this month is The Rain Heron by Robbie Arnott. Grab a copy and get reading, there's still time to bang it out before October 7. And, heck, even if you don't read it in time, come to LOCATION anyway and meet some new guys, make some new friends.

Happy to answer any questions about Tough Guy Book Club in the comments here, or DM me on Reddit.

I personally see the benefit of having some more road infrastructure put in, ie new projects to unlock more potential.

Most of the news channels talk about Melb and the needs of metro Melb, Melb suburbs and Geelong!

Moe played Leongatha on Saturday and won their first grand final in 59 years! I'm not a huge footy fan but that's a great result. The crowd rushed the field at the final siren for a huge celebration and there were fireworks going off all night. I'm sure there are going to be some very hungover locals today! Final score was Moe 14-7-91 to Leongatha 11-17-83.

Great band at RH tonight. The Flaming Mushrooms ! High end, come on down for a great night. Prizes for the best dancers.

I’m going to be visiting some friends in Traralgon, and want to suggest going out on the Friday night.
Are there any bars or clubs that are popular on a Friday night? I’m new to the area and haven’t really heard of any good spots.

Seek seems a waste of time and having mixed outcomes on Gippslander. Is there anywhere else i should be posting job ads? Trying to pay well but I'm just not really getting any applicants. 70-80k base pay, kitchen hand work.

Any facebook groups or or any other sites people recommend?

New Victorian One Nation leader (aka King Cooker) is a conspiracy nut spouting about 15 minute cities.

Nothing more Australian than a One Nation candidate spewing "I'm glad that's out of the way, and we can crack on for November. We need to take this state back." as they walk out of a court room.

I am moving to Bairnsdale in November. First time coming to Australia. What do people in there mid to late 20s do in Bairnsdale? I'm in my late 20s, SE Asian and loves sports (Road Cycling, Running, Basketball, Badminton and wanting to learn swimming to do Triathlon). Is it a good place to start a family? Are there community events like running events or crit races or group rides? Are foreigners welcomed like normal? What level of hate or racism should I expect? 🤣. Your inputs are very much appreciated!

Recently purchased a beautiful piece of art titled 'Rainbow Creek' signed J Hamilton in 1984. The back of the piece also mentions the town of Cowarr. Im hoping to find more info on this artist. Anyone know of them or know where I might be better off asking?
