My new motto anytime someone ghosts me now
They’re - Just - Not - That - Into - You
Simple as that.

I got ghosted by this guy who was introduced to me by mutual friends, earlier this year. He came back a few months later, apologised and said it was because he needed the typical “time to just be alone and by myself.” I was like “yea fine“ cause tbh, I myself don’t really feel like dating either with everything careerwise with me. So we agreed to just be friends as well as for the sake our mutual friend, which we have been cause nothing else has continued except for the flirty banter.
Except I just learned that he does in fact have a girl that he has had since he ghosted me. So he ghosted me for a new girl, lied to me about why he ghosted, lied to me for months that he was still single, is probably lying to her that we are still friends.
Talk about “I wasn’t ready for a relationship…. WITH YOU.” I just have major ick…. yuck

So, this guy I used to talk to earlier this year texted me a few days ago. When we first met, we really hit it off. We spent a lot of time together and even talked about the possibility of a relationship. However, we eventually started drifting apart because of miscommunication and arguments.
We’ve been talking on and off for the past few months, but I had pretty much accepted that things weren’t going anywhere because he didn’t seem willing to commit to me or take me seriously.
Last week, he reached out to ask how I’d been doing. He told me he missed me and that we should hang out soon. I told him I missed him too and suggested that we hang out on my days off. He responded, “Bet, I can’t wait to see you. We have a lot to catch up on.”
Fast-forward to my days off, and I hadn’t heard from him for about two days. I decided to text him to ask how he was doing and what he was up to. He replied almost immediately, but after I responded, he left me on read.
I got upset and called him out, saying something along the lines of, “You say you miss me and want to see me, but now you’re barely texting me and leaving me on read.” He responded, “My bad, I’ve been busy. When are you free?” That upset me even more because I’d already told him which days I was available. I also didn’t understand how he could open my messages almost immediately but not respond.
I then told him, “I feel like the person you actually wanted to talk to was busy, so you decided to hit me up instead. If that’s the case, that’s fine, but I’d rather you just be honest with me.” Instead of directly addressing what I said, he responded, “My bad, let’s plan something for this weekend.”
At that point, I decided to stop arguing because I figured he still wanted to see me. I replied, “Okay, what are we doing, and when?” I didn’t hear from him for the rest of the night.
Eventually, I got fed up and texted him, “Don’t even worry about it at this point,” before blocking him. What frustrates me is that I wasn’t even the one who suggested hanging out in the first place. He reached out to me, told me he missed me, and expressed interest in seeing me. Yet, when I tried to make actual plans, I felt like I was getting nowhere.
I’m used to us going long periods without talking, but then he’ll randomly come back into my life, make me feel wanted for a little while, and disappear again. It’s emotionally exhausting, especially because I genuinely had feelings for him and wanted things to work out.
At the same time, I wonder if I overreacted. I know people get busy, and I understand that someone doesn’t have to respond to every message immediately. I also feel like accusing him of only reaching out because someone else was unavailable might have been unnecessary.
I guess part of me feels like I should’ve established stronger boundaries a long time ago instead of repeatedly allowing this cycle to continue.
Are my feelings justified, or did I overreact by blocking him? Should I try to have another conversation with him to clear things up, or would it be better to leave the situation alone?

I was friends with a guy I’ll call Jayden for 5 years. Then we developed feelings for each-other and got into a relationship. A month later he ghosted me completely out of nowhere, with no explanation.
I’m devastated because he was part of my life for so long, and I never got any closure. I try to text him sometimes but he never replies. I even texted his relatives to ask if he was doing ok and got no response. Recently he blocked me on snap. However he still follows me on TikTok. We didn’t get into an argument or anything last time we spoke so I’m confused. I still miss him, but I don’t know If I should keep hoping he’ll come back or accept that I need to move on. It’s been a month and a half since he ghosted me. Part of me still wants answers, and another part of me knows I can’t wait forever for someone who disappeared without saying anything.

I asked Google why people are unable to communicate a need to shut down because of their emotions. Why not just say they are overwhelmed. It gave me the following answer:
People struggle to communicate a need for space because intense emotional distress triggers a nervous system override that temporarily disables clear thinking and verbal communication. [1]
While it looks like a simple choice from the outside, the barrier to saying "I need time" usually stems from deep psychological and physiological roots:
If you'd like, we can explore:
I asked why people have become so sensitive and unable to have a simple conversation:
The modern emphasis on emotional sensitivity and communication is largely a generational and cultural shift driven by changes in parenting styles, the democratization of psychology, and digital connectivity.
While older generations were often conditioned to prioritize stoicism and economic survival, younger generations have been raised in an environment that treats emotional awareness as a metric of health.
Over the last two decades, clinical psychology terms have migrated from the therapist's office directly into mainstream culture.
Parenting paradigms have changed dramatically over the last 50 years, altering how children learn to process distress.
The internet and social media have hyper-accelerated this focus on the internal self.
Societal progress changes what people view as threats.
Summary of the Trade-off
This shift is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it has broken cycles of generational trauma and allowed people to recognize abuse or unhealthy dynamics. On the other hand, a hyper-focus on individual emotional comfort can sometimes lower a person's tolerance for the messy, uncomfortable, and unscripted friction that comes with maintaining long-term human relationships.
This is the Gemini take. Sounds about right but I come from a generation where we talked things out. If a person wasn't someone we wanted in our ives, we had that conversation. Now people just disappear and hope you get the message. It happened before but it was frowned upon as something people do when they are fearful. Now it's a badge of honor.
Wrong direction. The result has been thousands of relationships ending because ghosting has become its own language. If a person ghost you, we are being told the person is not choosing you and the best thing to do is close that door for good and consider them a lost cause. The problem is sometimes the person who does the ghosting didn't intend to end the relationship for good. We are all protecting ourselves away for any meaningful connection. To be honest, The person being ghosted has every right to walk away for good. If someone ghost you, you should take the hint that you mean nothing to them. Even if they love you, they can only be expected to vanish when you need them the most. What good is that?

Love- it is the most beautiful thing a human can experience.
Its powerful- what do i mean- you feel euphoric, energized, joyful, peaceful and strong. Its a place where you can believe simple words and have faith in them like "you are good enough, you are strong, i care for you, you didnt deserve that etc etc you are beautiful"
Now is love all about satisfaction hell no. You wont like things in a person sometimes. But, love has to be there, lets say you dont work on yourself and thats hurting someone but they dont leave. You gotta pick yourself up or lose them eventually cause every has a limit to their patience.
Communication- COMMUNICATION-
It is the most easiest thing and most important thing for love to exist.
Language is a social enterprise. If you dont talk, if you dont express, if you dont say, a person wont know. Nobody can read your mind and its unfair for you think and want they do.
If you feel uncared for, explain, talk, let them grow and if they dont see your effort and work then you are simply "not wanted". Not cared. Not loved.
Dont lose respect for yourself cause of the feelings you have. And also dont become so bitter and hurt that you start hating on feelings itself. Itll keel you stuck not growing.
Growing means youll realize where you were wrong and what happened and not become the traum, even though its part of you but its for you to learn what didnt work last time. See patterns and learn about you.
Hope this helps everyone who comes here for advise. Feel free to ask more.

i’ve (32F) been recently ghosted (going on week 2 now) by a (38M) lover that i have a long standing history with. we reconnected after 7 years and i constantly asked him for honesty about other partners as to not repeat what caused our first rupture when we were younger and foolish.
he assured me i “had him” and that there was no one else during a convo just 2 weeks before he ghosted following an argument that escalated.
now mind you, we got into a drunk fight. we both said terrible things and when i got home i sent a break up text which he read the next day with no response. a day later i reach out, attempting to repair. message read, call later that night unanswered.
the next day i snoop to find that he attended a supposed “platonic friend” friend’s bday dinner as her +1. in a group photo she reposted to her IG story you see him kissing her forehead in the back. My heart sank, i screenshotted and called him out on it only to be left on read again with no reply until the next day. he finally says things are not what they appear and i said a lot in my texts that required a comprehensive convo in person which he couldnt have that day as he was with family. he knew ive always had my suspicions about this friend.
i never heard from him again for a week. now week 2 i sent another text, left on read again so im not blocked but after almost 3 years of seeing each other regularly and recently reassuring me that what we had was special and that not having me in his life would devastate him…just to have it end like this?
the other “friend” who usually likes all his posts and such went totally MIA on his posts that first week he discarded me. Noticiable but unsure what to make about it. They still follow each other but both have been unusually inactive on social media. she had made a “happy birthday” collage post for him back in july which i called him out on, he didnt reciprocate when her bday passed this last weekend.
Im just torn, i know i couldve done a couple things differently, but did my reaction to the betrayal i saw in front of me really warrant being ghosted? i just dont know what to make of this. he told me he’d always be there for me, i dont know if there’s anything else i can do.

Hi
So i was talking to this girl since beginning of the year, she friendzoned me in april and came back to me in september
She was the first to make the first move since she came back, we told our feelings, talked about the future we could build together, we could be (not talking about mariage or else...)
We did like 5 dates which were really good, we became intimate really fast, like the beginning of a couple
Then since friday she ghosted in the middle of a convo, she replyed sunday evening and now back to being ghosted
i dunno what to do, if i should send something to know about what is going on or just let it happen and give up

24M here. I met this girl, 24F, on a dating app. She was from a different city and was visiting my city, when we got matched. She didn't reply to me for a few days after matching, and then told me she left the city. So we've never met IRL.
However, we still decided to exchange social media. After moving to Instagram, the chats started to become increasingly interesting.
We'd stay on call for hours, tell each other everything, facetime, the works. She clearly mentioned that she isn't interested to look for anything serious currently, and was just looking to have fun conversations, which i respected. She said that we will let each other know if anything changes for any one of us. She said this because she said there were a lot of things going on in her life, and she couldn't think of a relationship at this moment.
However, she also mentioned that she does like me, and I told her the same, that I liked her just as much, and we will see where things go. We were pretty romantically involved, to a point that we'd both pretty often tell each other that "I want you so bad". Things were going great, and as her city wasn't too far away from mine, I decided that very soon I'll visit her and take her on a date.
This went on for about a month, until one day, she decided to ghost me. She didn't reply to me for 4 days. After the 4th day,I decided to call, and she picked up, and we had an hour long call.
She told me she deleted the app due to personal family-related reasons, and didn't tell me when she'd return. I asked if I should continue sending her reels, to which she said yes, so I did.
One day, I decided to call her again, but she didn't pick up. Although, she replied to my Instagram chats after 14 days, with a very romantically inclined text. But then, I was ghosted again.
Later, I sent her a post, and she replied, but ghosted again. That was her last response ever to me. I did send her texts, asking if she was doing well, hoping everything was good, but I never got a reply again.
Eventually, I decided to send her one last message, saying "I wish you hadn't ghosted me, I'm pretty sure whatever it was, we could've talked about". She never replied.
Now all this time, i was added in both her instagram accounts, and had her number. But that changed today.
I checked my phone, just to realise she has blocked me from both her accounts. I got pretty upset about that.
After this, I texted her on her number, asking for an explanation, and that it feels bad. But then, I saw her pfp disappear, meaning she removed my number.
I understand that she did not wanna date, and she wasn't looking for anything serious. But we both did like each other, and it feels very disrespectful to not acknowledge that. I genuinely believe if she had truthfully told me she didn't want anything from me instead of ghosting, i still wouldn't be stuck on her.
She kept me stuck after ghosting, and now, I'm completely lost. I feel really bad, because there is no explanation. What do I do?
I'd really like some advice on what to do, and if you have read it this far, thank you so much.

Hello guys, to give u some context, in 2024 i moved to live in the country where i live rn, i lived (nd still) alone in small studio, tbh it was really hard at the beginning i think ppl who have the same experience can relate, especially that i felt lonely all my friends were far away….
Anyway after 4 or 5 months i met a girl in the school, we talked we followed each other, we talked from to time she was giving some mixed signals, nd that confused me tbh sometimes she was so interested and she said why don’t u talk with me… and sometimes she didn’t reply to my msg (i don’t double text btw that a principe to with her but with everyone), however we met once we talked, in this conv she said that she was in a toxic relationship nd she survived… and she said she is not ready for a relationship (i understood the hidden msg nd i swear my intention was not to get in a relationship with her, i just needed someone cuz at that time loneliness ate me alive)
After that we never met again except in school in the break (only sometimes), after a while i was doing an internship and by coincidence after 1 month she stated the internship at the same place (we don’t plan that but our school does) however we met from time to time in the break talked, apart that we don’t talk too much or make plan except some reels from time to time. After a while we met in school i said hello she replied but that was weird reply, i didn’t care and in the same day i met her friend nd she didn’t talk with me (normally we say hello how are u and thats it) so i knew smth was wrong, after two days i found out that she deleted me in instagram, and she does speak with me since then m, but the problem is i have no idea why. I experienced that before nd i really don’t care if sm are in my life or not, but the problem is i couldn’t forget her, she always comes to my mind and feel uncomfortable when i met her in school cuz its the only place that we met in rn) my mind doesn’t accept the idea that we don’t talk anymore although im pretty sure that we aren’t good for each other and we’ll never be together.
What do u think guys, why is that ? Anyone experienced the same thing ? What did u do ?

So, I’m a Brazilian guy and I’ve been going out with an American woman a few times here in Brazil. We talk every day, but I feel like she always takes forever to reply. I see her online, but she won't answer until she feels like it. Even though there hasn't been a single day where she didn't text me back, I still feel bad because I’m starting to develop feelings for her. If this were just a casual thing, I wouldn't mind. But since I have a crush on her, it makes me feel really insecure. Do you think my sadness is justified, or am I just overthinking something minor and making it about myself?

I (F23) have had an on-and-off connection with a guy (M23) for a while. We got close, talked about relationships, faith, marriage, and boundaries, but he was always inconsistent. He would pull away, come back, and then distance himself again.
He eventually told me he didn’t want a relationship and blocked me everywhere. I respected that, even though it hurt and confused me because of how close we had been.
Recently, he unblocked me on Instagram and started viewing my stories. I didn’t reach out at first, but eventually sent a simple “Hey, how are you?” He immediately blocked me again.
I’m confused because I didn’t bring up our past or pressure him. I understand that viewing stories doesn’t necessarily mean someone wants to reconnect, but why unblock me and watch my stories if he didn’t want any communication?
I still care about him, but I don’t plan on contacting him again. I’m trying to accept that his actions may be the answer, even if I don’t understand them.
Why would someone repeatedly block and unblock someone they have history with? Could he have unresolved feelings, or am I reading too much into it?
