Free to Play Orebit - 4 pers. party multiplayer

https://stodulski.itch.io/orebit

Orebit, online game for 1 to 4 players. You fly a mining craft with a bucket on a rope, scoop rubble from a pile and fly it home to your crusher. The other players can bump you and steal your cargo, and pirates, falling rocks, worms and EMP storms make it harder.

It runs in the browser on PC and on phones. No download, no account.
Hit Quick Play to join other testers, or open a private room and send the code to a friend.

It’s an early version, so things will break. I’d love to hear:

  • did you manage to join a game, and on what device
  • what was confusing
  • what felt too hard or too easy

There’s a "ladybug" :P button in the menu for bug reports, it fills in the tech details for you.

Thanks for trying it!

Do private rooms keep your slot if you refresh the tab, or do you come back as a new player? Being able to rejoin the same room would be handy on mobile.

Right now a refresh makes you a new player: your craft is left behind, and a private room doesn’t let anyone in once the game has started. If the host refreshes, the room closes for everyone. Rejoining the same slot is a good idea, especially on mobile, and it’s on the list.

Quick Play only works when other testers are online at the same moment, so a lone visitor can land in an empty lobby and leave. I'd put a time in the post, a window when you'll be in a room yourself, and say a private room code works with one friend too. This room is for games that stay free, so say that up top beside the no download, no account line. Trade-off: a fixed time means fewer but better sessions. Can one person start a run alone?

Good points, thanks. You never get stuck in an empty lobby: in Quick Play bots join after 10 seconds (or right away if you press Ready), and the first real player who joins takes over a bot. Solo works offline, and a private room code works with just one friend. I’ll add a time window to the post when I’ll be in a Quick Play room myself.
