User Review Regarding Infirmary
I think most people that give this one a negative review is mostly for it's slow burn and not scary and intense all the way through. While I wish this one ended up being more paranormal than it was, I appreciate what they did with this. I appreciate slow burn type stories. They don't have jump scares 24/7, they mostly focus on creepy atmosphere and creepy sounds throughout until towards the end it gets more intense. That's why I prefer this type of style. Now it still wasn't perfect by all means, but credit to where credit is due for such a small filming crew. Now I know that definitely Markiplier would hate this one though. I'd encourage others that haven't seen this yet to keep an open mind and don't always listen to the negative reviews and just assume you won't like it.

User Review Found Footage 3D (2016)
Firstly, for me, any found footage horror above 90 mins is a bit too long and this one is 100 mins long.
This one is like a found footage being shot inside a found footage but they went creative by shooting the inside found footage in 3D (like who tf shoots FF horror in 3D).
One thing I noticed was that it spends a generous amount of time , not in creating the creepy atmosphere , but the personal conflicts between the crew members be it a failed marriage or script disagreements blablabla and it could easily have been chopped off by 20 minutes.
The entity shown in this film doesn’t have any explanation as to what exactly it is but it’s ok for me . The final act along with that …well….the final jumpscare was pretty decent but for me, the wait time to get till the ultimate creepy act was way too long , like the reward for patience felt a bit low .
I would have loved this FF horror even more had its runtime been shortened to 70-80 minutes max .
7/10

Forty Days of Found Footage: Halloween 2026 Forty Days of Found Footage: Day 34 || “True Fear” (2024)
Welcome back, my fellow Scream Queen’s, Final Girl’s and Scream King’s, it is Day 34 of FDFF with me, Taylor!
Today we’re off to my motherland, Sweden! We’re going with best friends and “True Fear” hosts Nour and Linn as they explore the folklore and history about a 17th century witch!
🎥SYNOPSIS:
“When two best friends hosting an online horror-themed history show together decide to make an episode about the site of a 17th century witch hunt, they find themselves seemingly terrorized by evil supernatural forces.”
✨MY THOUGHTS:
I am so excited to share today’s film! It is so, so underrated and rarely ever spoken about, thus it definitely deserves its spot on FDFF! I want to thank my dear friend and found footage master, [u/JCVD-1](u/JCVD-1) for introducing this film to me a while ago. In my opinion, it is above average in terms of story, acting, and cinematography — it’s definitely a “hidden gem”.
The film literally wastes no time getting started. We begin with best friends and online hosts, Linn and Nour. They do an online show called “True Fear” where they investigate and learn about all things supernatural: urban legends, folklore, ghosts, etc. They conducted a poll for their viewers to choose the next topic to make an episode on, and the winner was “witches”.
A viewer sent a message about “Sweden’s biggest witch burning” that occurred in a remote town called Torsaker and our girls decide that they will spend the week of Easter there. While there, they will post videos and livestreams of their investigations and explorations throughout the town as they learn about the history and lore.
Linn decides to bring her douchebag, erm, boyfriend, Dennis, and then our trio is off to Torsaker. It’s quite a drive and when they arrive, we find out where they’re staying. It’s called “Britta’s B&B” and well, Britta, the owner… she’s… peculiar. What follows next is Nour and Linn’s (and Dennis’) exploration and what transpires throughout the week. It’s a great time… well for us, the viewers, at least.
“True Fear” has such a charm to it. The 2 protagonist’s Linn and Nour have incredible chemistry— you can feel that they are truly best friends and love each other. That’s refreshing, as a lot of times the entire film is our main couple and/our group arguing. Don’t get me wrong, that happens during this, but it isn’t because of Nour and Linn.
This film does a fantastic job with pacing: the moment it begins we get going and it doesn’t stop. You will not be bored. It’s very interesting and there are quite a few twists and turns that I did not see coming. For this to be such a simple and popular premise, the filmmakers did a very good job making it their own. It is not another “Blair Witch” or “Paranormal Activity” rip off.
However, it isn’t perfect: there are a few things I would have liked answers on and the SFX were a little silly at times, but there are some good creepy moments, and overall this is a solid, refreshing film. I think it’s the perfect choice for a movie night, especially if you have had a long day — it’s a good film to unwind to.
The spoken language is Swedish so you will need subtitles if you don’t speak the language, which are offered on every service this movie is streaming on.
The Swedes really love their witch films! (I’m not complaining at all!)
Oh, I forget to mention: I loved the ending. Y’all need to watch this gem of a film.
📈MY RATING: 8.5/10.

🍭FUN FACTS:
▪️The story is partially based on the real-life Torsaker witch trials from 1675 in northern Sweden, one of the largest mass executions for witchcraft in Swedish history, where over 70 people (mostly women) were beheaded and burned.
⚠️DISCLAIMER:
Forty Days of Found Footage is little project is just a fun side venture I decided to do during Spooky Season this year so that your lineup can be stacked with all of the new releases that are coming and already out, along with these I am sharing— hopefully a few 'new to you', or maybe one you forgot about and want to rewatch. I am deliberately not sharing the "best of the best" and the most popular films, as they are mentioned enough. Discussion Recommendations?
I’ve recently discovered a few found footage films. I’ve seen some in the past that haven’t been great, but I recently watched the Hell House films, and also Followed. Tbh Followed was actually pretty good in my opinion, definitely had me on edge! Obviously the Hell House films are a bit up and down, but the first and fourth ones really creeped me out! Are there any other “found footage” horrors which are worth watching? It wasn’t really a genre which jumped out at me until I watched these, but I find myself wanting to find more. I’ve checked online but they just seem to be the usual suggestions, so looking for people’s genuine opinions, if anybody could recommend another? Thanks in advance 🙂

New Release DON'T LOOK IN THE DARK | A new found-footage film where no two people see the same thing (premiering online Oct 29)
"A couple’s phones secretly recorded their camping trip in Pinelands National Reserve on April 4, 2022, capturing fragmented audio/video of what happened. The blackouts remain as found in the footage."
It's the kind of movie where different people can walk away with completely different interpretations of what they watched. Some people will love it; others will hate it.
What do you see in the dark?
We're premiering it online on The Lone Screen for one night only this Thursday, October 29. After the film we'll have the director Sam Freeman in the chat answering people's questions. Would love to hear what this sub thinks of it, especially from people who enjoy found footage that takes some big swings and doesn't necessarily explain itself.

Forty Days of Found Footage: Halloween 2026 Forty Days of Found Footage: Day 33 || “Profile” (2018)
Welcome back, my fellow journalists, it is Day 33 of FDFF with me, Taylor!
Today we’re going undercover with Amy, an investigative journalist in London, as she tries to get the inside scoop on the extremist group known as ISIS.
🎥SYNOPSIS:
“An undercover British journalist infiltrates the online propaganda channels of the so-called Islamic State, only to be sucked in by her recruiter.”
✨MY THOUGHTS:
The king of Screenlife, Tim Bekmambetov, does it yet again, with my favorite Screenlife film of all time— and one of my favorite films of all time in general: “Profile”.
My little “review” section for this will be shorter than normal because of how this film is made. It is not horror; but a mystery and a thriller, and until the very end, you’re going to be on a wild ride with a lot of twists and turns.
I have watched this film a handful of times now, and last night when I was doing my rewatch for FDFF, I was glued to the screen just as much as I was the other times. I truly think this is a fantastic movie. I will admit because I love Screenlife so much and I’m a writer who has done a couple of investigative pieces, I could have a slight bias since the premise is set up with 2 things I am heavily into.
“Profile” follows investigative journalist, Amy Whittaker as she goes undercover to find an ISIS Recruiter. She is based in London, England, and the film is set in 2014 when a lot of young women were leaving different parts of the UK and Europe and giving up their lives for ISIS— becoming wives and slaves, etc.
Amy sets up a whole fake online persona as “Melody Nelson”, and writes than she is a recent convert to Islam. Soon, she attracts the attention of a young man, Bilel, who is a high(ish) leader/recruiter of ISIS currently fighting in Syria. Amy’s assignment is to infiltrate herself in Bilel’s life via online to understand how these men are recruiting these young girls.
Things become very intense. I can tell you this film is nonstop— even during the phase where “Melody” and “Bilel” are getting to know one another. I truly was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next— you feel like you are literally holding TNT this entire film. And a couple of moments in this film were surprising. The actors did an incredible job playing on our— the viewers— emotions, and up until the very end the twists and turns kept coming.
“Profile” from start to finish is truly a fascinating, dangerous, and thrilling film, and I wholeheartedly believe it deserves more love in our community thus I am very happy to be starting off the final week of FDFF with this film!
📈MY RATING: 10/10.

🍭FILM FACTS:
▪️This film is adapted from the non-fiction book “In the Skin of a Jihadist” by French journalist Anna Erelle. Erelle actually went undercover online, created a fake profile, and recorded real Skype interviews with an ISIS recruiter. Because of her reporting, she received severe death threats and currently lives under 24/7 police protection with a changed identity.
▪️The director relied heavily on improvisation to make the chemistry between the two leads feel authentic. Because Kane and Latif fed off each other's unscripted dialogue, their onscreen relationship developed a highly complex and intense dynamic that shifted from sweet to deeply unnerving.
▪️To capture the genuine feeling of long-distance internet communication, Valene Kane (Amy) and Shazad Latif (Bilel) were separated into different rooms during filming. They communicated live through Skype interfaces, allowing real-world digital lags, glitchy video connections, and audio delays to become natural parts of the movie.

Help Needed I have been trying to find one specific horror story for few hours and I need your help.
Hi everyone, guys, just like in the topic, I need your help finding a horror movie. I remember finding out about this a few weeks ago from a YouTube video (unfortunately, for some reason I can't find this video in my story).
The story told of a painter who had a specific work, he had to be driven daily by a chauffeur to an ominous wall standing slowly in the middle of nowhere. The nearest building was an old slaughterhouse that had been closed many years ago and featured graffiti criticizing human cruelty and insisting that we would face punishment for it. Every day when the painter finished his work, the chauffeur had to verify this and then drive the painter home. Every morning when they returned in front of the wall, it looked as if it had not been painted for many years, the wall was covered with old exfoliated paint and peeling plaster.
One day the chauffeur decided that it would be a brilliant idea to go to an abandoned slaughterhouse with a group of his friends to do an urbex night there, it ended in such a way that the next week the painter had to go there himself and on the way he checked if they were still in the slaughterhouse, they were all there, some of them dead, some of them still alive with some horror, one of the victims was dismembered and placed in a dozen different cattle cages and continued breathing.
As for the YT movie, I remember the movie was made entirely of rough drawings with disturbing atmosphere, most likely made with commuters, it was about 40 minutes long, and if I remember correctly, there was something in the title that said it was something that would make you really afraid of death.
This is just the beginning of this story, I remember a little more about it, does anyone of you remember what this is for? I would be very grateful if someone could give me some advice.

User Review Ranking all Ricky Umberger FF films
Realized I've watched all of the guy's films, so I thought I'd share my thoughts on each of them by ranking them.
#5. The Fear Footage
Anthologies aren't my favorite thing, and the OG Fear Footage is a good example of an anthology film with pretty uneven segments.
The wraparound story is quite solid, centered around a cop investigating a mysterious house that was previously destroyed but suddenly reappeared one night. The premise alone got me hooked. It does its job quite well (especially towards the end), introducing the labyrinthine house (which would become the most iconic location in the trilogy).
"Birthday Party" is a very simple but quite effective short, with some good jumpscares.
Unfortunately, the other two are much weaker imo. "Storm Chasers" is just a bunch of guys being chased by a random cult, and it doesn't bring much to the table when it comes to scares. Totally forgettable. Finally, "Speak No Evil" had potential, but ends up being too short for the story it seemingly tries to tell.
Overall, the OG Fear Footage won't make anyone's top 10 FF movies, but fans of the genre should still get some enjoyment out of it. Personally, it's the one that sticks with me the least.
#4. Project Eerie
Project Eerie retains the anthology formula from The Fear Footage, and this one really feels like a lower-budget V/H/S film in spirit. Imo, it's superior to TFF thanks to all of its segments actually being worth watching: better stories, better entities, etc. I won't spoil anything about the various segments because I think you'll enjoy them more if you know nothing going in.
Go in blind and watch it. You'll probably end up thinking it's actually better than some of the recent V/H/S entries. Or at least more consistent, as the tone doesn't jump all over the place from one segment to another. Anthologies, again, aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I thought this was an improvement over TFF, even if I don't find myself going back to it very often.
#3. The Fear Footage 2: Curse of the Tape
TFF2 drops the anthology formula from the OG film to focus solely on two guys investigating why they appear in the footage from the first movie. A very simple story (that doesn't go much further than that — the movie raises more questions than it answers, which isn't necessarily a bad thing), but that's not the movie's main strength anyway. The two leads represent two different reactions to all the shenanigans going on: one, more realistically, wants to get the hell out as soon as things start getting too weird, while the other, more conveniently for the plot, wants to keep pushing the investigation forward.
The movie's highlights are some very effective scare sequences that definitely make it worth watching. Umberger manages to deliver a variety of scares using almost a single location, and while the finale certainly delivers, the movie doesn't wait until then to try to scare the audience, sprinkling its creepiness and jumpscares throughout (the cop on the porch being my personal favorite).
#2. The Fear Footage: 3AM
The third installment in the Fear Footage trilogy follows in the footsteps of the previous film. Don't expect much of a story here; as a few people have already mentioned online, this is basically just a guy, alone, exploring a ghost town and asking "Hello?!" and "Is anyone in here?!" every minute. BUT! TFF3AM still does a lot of things pretty well!
You lose the dialogue you had in TFF2 because the main character is on his own (with only his camera to talk to), but that's largely made up for by the great sense of isolation the film creates. The eeriness is probably at its best in this movie, with Ricky coming up with some clever stuff that makes you go "Wow, WTF?!" (the double dead-end road sign, for example). And just like the previous film, you also get some very solid jumpscares here and there (the barn, eewww).
The Fear Footage 2 and 3AM have basically become two of my "comfort" found footage films; I've seen them multiple times, but I'll still put them on when I'm in bed to help me fall asleep, only to occasionally be woken up by some of their effective jumpscares.
#1. The Man with the Black Umbrella
Ricky's latest movie is easily his best work so far: best story, best cinematography, best jumpscares, and best evil entity.
The film actually features an investigation that draws you in pretty quickly, and the titular villain is definitely one of the most memorable I've seen in a FF film in a while. He has a unique look, an MO of his own, and even a spooky, old-school theme song that's been stuck in my head ever since I watched the movie. And the gibberish he speaks as he gets closer to killing his victims is damn effective as well.
And if you're tired of FF films with disappointing finales where nothing happens (looking at you, Horror in the High Desert sequels), don't worry: the entire final act (the last 20 or 25 minutes) is basically the main character being relentlessly harassed by the entity. And it's amazing!
It's a movie that left me wanting more, and I think it really has the potential to kick off a franchise.
Overall
I recently realised that I really like most of Ricky Umberger's stuff. The guy clearly loves the FF genre and knows all the tricks. It's pretty incredible what he manages to pull off with what's obviously a ridiculously small budget, and I'll take that over any CGI-filled bullshit any day. His movies have delivered some of the rare jumpscares that actually made me jump out of my seat — something that happens so rarely these days that I really appreciate it. And I think he's only getting better and better as a filmmaker.
I'm hoping the guy will one day be handed the keys to franchises like Blair Witch, or at least that he'll bring us a sequel to The Man with the Black Umbrella. Hopefully, we haven't seen the last of him.
