Is this a dilute tortie or just a gray tabby?
galleryThis is my new foster kitten, Cinderella! When I found her and saw her coloring I thought for sure she was a dilute tortoiseshell but I’m not sure if that’s an accurate description. I’m trying to write an adoption bio for her and don’t want adopters to feel misled!
Additionally, I thought she was a shorthair at first but I’m starting to get the suspicion she might fluff up!! What do we think?

Found a 5-6 week old orange kitten, mom showed up looking for it—should we return it or keep it? Plus basic care advice needed!

Hey everyone, I need some advice and honestly just wanted to share the wild 24 hours I’ve had.
Yesterday while walking my small dogs, this tiny baby orange kitten literally walked right up to my legs out of nowhere. We looked around for a mom or other kittens but didn’t see any, so we decided to bring it inside. It has its eyes wide open and clearly has teeth, so we think it’s around 5-6 weeks old.
This morning, I went out to walk one of my dogs and saw an adult cat that looks EXACTLY like this kitten laying right in front of our building. I tried to approach her, but she ran off. Then she came back, locked eyes with me, and suddenly ran off meowing loudly. My boyfriend and I feel a bit guilty seeing the mom. At least we're assuming that's her, they look the same!!
We already have an appointment set up for this Sunday at 12:00 PM to get it fully checked out, and we feel like it will have a much better life inside where it won't reproduce, get sick, or get hurt. But seeing the mom meowing made me wonder, should we try to give it back to her, or is the kitten better off staying with us?
We already introduced the kitten to our small dogs and our bunny, and they all got along amazing and were playing perfectly!
We tried checking the belly and back and didn’t see any fleas, but I’m going to do a thorough check in its armpits and groin tonight when I get home.
What is the best way to take care of a kitten this age until our Sunday visit? And should we feel bad about keeping it away from the mom, or did we do the right thing?
