Discussion Happy 6th bday to shore
I remember the day it came out. A moment of hope in the pandemic. It was raining on the first day of fall.
This album captures late summer into early autumn so well.

This song feels very Fleet Foxes to me. Some songs are hard to cover well, but I can see Robin doing this beautifully.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else..?
I was listening to the S/T album by Racing Mount Pleasant and the (short) song "Heavy Red" sounds very similar melody wise to Wading in Waist High Water...

Fanwork (Art, Music, etc.) I wrote about why Fleet Foxes are the perfect music for Victorian libraries, and how they've soothed me across decades of my life.
I write about music that matters to me, and Fleet Foxes have become something really special in my life.
Thinking about it, I realised a lot of my fond memories with them happened in beautiful libraries, so that's what this piece is about.
Hope a few people enjoy the piece and the vibe it's trying to capture!

Robin in NYC?
Does anyone know if Robin lives in NYC?? I feel like I may have seen him out but not 100% and didn’t want to be creepy.

A very short love letter
I have the best memories of sitting in my bedroom in high school listening to Fleet Foxes and trying to make my non indie music loving friends understand the artistry that went into their songs at every gathering and basement party. Now that I’m 33, I’m looking at artists in a different light and listening to albums like I did all those years ago for what feels like the first time. I guess what I’m saying is that I would love to pick Robin Pecknold’s brain over coffee.

Discussion The love goes deep
Well, for those who choose to read this, I apologize in advance for the lengthiness, but I have struggled with life long anxiety/depression and one way to cope has always been music. It has been a steadfast friend to comfort in those darker moments and finding FF back in the aughts came at a time when I was really struggling with my marriage and really just dealing with a lot of unresolved stuff and they were my go to on repeat, a reliable salve when things got rough.
Cue to now, 2026, I'm six years post divorce, living 3,000 miles from my ex and entire life, living in Boston and stumbled upon a clinical study using a synthetic psychoactive drug (LSD) to test its effectiveness with chronic depression. After some deliberation, I decided I was still tired of feeling the old feels and thought, why not, maybe my experience could someone some day.
So, after months of studies and tests (very thorough) I got the drug and chose to listen to my Fleet Foxes playlist while being monitored in the dosing room. I will just start by saying the experience truly defies words, I began falling deep, deep into the earth, clawing my way through the dirt and deeper still tearing through white roots, rocks, and bones. The music s l o w e d waaaay down, flooding my brain and blood, my heartbeat, the instruments sounded primeval, caucaphonous, reverent in a way I've never experienced. The music brought me into the core of the earth. And there I felt a sense of peace and deep deep connection.
What was most interesting was that I had been working on my family's ancestry, namely Lithuania, and I know I absolutely connected to those ancestors as I learned later they were from one area, one village and forever farmers, peasants, workers of the earth. Even as I write this, I get emotional.
Anyway, I'm just so grateful for FF's music and how profoundly they impacted my life. I'm glad that this sub exists and that there are many of us who get it. That is all.

FF Adjacent A Love Letter to Fleet Foxes
So, recently I found out that I've been accepted into multiple doctoral programs for nurse anesthesia, something I've spent years working toward and, at times, wasn't sure I'd ever get to say. It's been a pretty surreal experience, and as strange as it might seem to share this in a band's subreddit, I can't think of a better place to express how much Fleet Foxes has meant to me throughout this journey.
Their music has been such a constant in my life. Through nursing school, long nights in the ICU, stressful shifts, exams, moments of self-doubt, and times when my anxiety felt almost unbearable, Fleet Foxes was always there. Their music became part of my routine for finding my way back to myself. When everything felt overwhelming, I'd put on an album, take a drive, or just sit and listen until the world felt a little quieter.
And it wasn't just the difficult moments. Some of my favorite memories are tied to this music, too. I've been taking my daughter to Fleet Foxes concerts since she was 12, and getting to share something I love so deeply with her has been one of the sweetest parts of being her mom. I hope those memories stay with her as long as they'll stay with me.
I know I'm not alone in this. I think that's part of what makes this band so special. For so many of us, this music is more than something we listen to. It becomes intertwined with our lives, our relationships, our memories, and all the different versions of ourselves we've been along the way.
I'm incredibly proud to have reached this point in my career, and I'm so excited to begin this next chapter. But looking back at everything it took to get here, I keep thinking about how often Fleet Foxes was playing somewhere in the background, making the hard days a little softer and the beautiful ones even more memorable.
So I guess this is just a love letter to a band that has meant more to me than I could ever really explain. Thank you for making music that has given me so much comfort, joy, peace, and connection over the years. I feel genuinely lucky to exist at the same time as this music.
And Robin, if you're lurking around here, please know how much your music means to people. Also, respectfully, I have three years of doctoral school ahead of me, and I would absolutely love another album to add to the rotation. 😂
Here's to the music that carries us through, and to all the memories we haven't made yet. ❤️ 🦊

I’m from AK and their music really speaks to the aesthetic here. Especially given the shore cover is somewhere I’ve flown over lol. R

FF Adjacent Does the intro of Phoebe Bridgers’ Liberty Tree sound very Fleet Foxes to anyone else?
It’s been bugging me for months but every time I listen to Liberty Tree the intro immediately makes me think of Fleet Foxes. I feel like it’s something about the whistling at the beginning, then immediately transitioning into the acoustic guitar rhythm with the unusual chord, and the way the drums accent the guitar. The whole thing just sounds so Fleet Foxes to me.
I initially thought it reminded me of a specific song from Crack-Up, but I went through the whole album and couldn’t find it. The closest I could get was “Quiet Air / Gioia” from Shore, where the chords sound almost identical to me, though the rhythm isn’t quite the same. Now I’m wondering if there’s an even closer match somewhere, or if it’s just a very Fleet Foxes-esque sound in general. It’s driving me insane 😭

Pecknold cover of Waterfalls
Hi there, I just found out that Robin covered McCartney's song Waterfalls this year at Ridgefield Playhouse. This song (well, its chorus) has always reminded me of Fleet Foxes songs, in terms of its melody, including songs like English House, Ragged Wood, and others. I was pretty amazed to see Robin actually covered it. I imagine he would do an incredible job of singing this song, especially its epic chorus. I would love to hear this cover! Please help!

Discussion Fleet Foxes - A Definitive Collection
I manually put together this playlist on YT Music. It goes without saying that everything made explicitly by Fleet Foxes is included - I also added some of the songs with FF features and even some Robin Pecknold solo works / features. Are there any more pieces I should be aware of for the sake of the playlist?
Thanks!

Discussion connecting with Shore as an autistic person
i've finally gotten around to giving Shore a big attentive set of listens (huge fan of the first three albums, but i wasn't in a FF mood back in 2020, i guess) and i'm kind of shocked by how much i connect with it
Can I Believe You? - i can't believe anyone might consider this a more basic or lesser FF song. for starters the time signature is weird and fun, the fan-choir sounds incredible,, but also the lyrics are so real if you have difficulty reading others or figuring out social cues
"it never got less strange showing anyone just a bare face" - if you know what masking is, this is a lyric that resonates with masking
"can i believe you when you say i'm good?" - this lyric really resonates with me, i can't say how many times i've needed to ask a friend if i'm coming off okay to them or the crowd -- and then not even being sure what they mean when they say yes.
I'm Not My Season - incredibly comforting song for me. i love how much FF emphasises the importance of human connection and caring for one another over the past two albums. its something sort of ironic, but having difficulties with connection has meant that i think about the value and meaning of connection a lot, and being a carer and connector really matters to me. i assume thats kind of common amongst autistic people, but im not sure. i really like how Crack-Up both emphasised the difficulty of connection and the necessity of it, especially.
Sunblind - special interest song, both in the classic autistic sense of just listing the stuff you love, and also really finding so much joy in it, falling into it, feeling bouyed by it. very very resonatey.
(imagine other things said about other songs - i love Young Man's Game, and Maestranza, and etc etc etc)
and then the general tone of the album - again, Crack-Up connects with me in a similar way to Shore, but its so nice to hear an album which i connect with in this way which isn't really depressing. Robin never declares himself a lost cause, the way another pseudo-Autism-classic album (Pet Sounds) does. Shore is really uplifting!!!!!
i know Robin is on reddit, so just in case he sees this, i wanna thank him!!!!!!!!! so good!!!!!!!

Just read Simon Raymonde’s book…
The way he describes his relationship with Robin/FF from the very start when they contacted via MySpace, is very wholesome.
Then they leave for the major, fine, but the surprising part is that Raymonde says he has literally never heard from Robin since. Especially surprising because the Pecknolds went to his wedding.
Has Robin ever talked about this, addressed it?
Just seems a shame, perhaps personal, in which case I’ll get lost.
