I always thought Wuben x1 pro will be redundant as I already have an Olight marauder mini 2, but the output somehow looks brighter than mm2. Overall build quality is heavy-duty and well machined

One of the major let down of mm2 is the turbo lock out once the battery level is at 3/4 bars.

Fan is exceptionally quiet, I didnt even noticed it outdoor. I've read its about 35dB.

Wife was hired as a cheap labor in the video, showcasing turbo mode from both spot and flood.

One of the key reason I got the x1 pro is the stormtrooper decked out look and to serve as the big brother of the x4. Wish more companies would adopt this look, another great one is ffl x1s void white.

Great battery performance as it ran for close to 2 hrs on high mode 3k lumens, leaving all the mofo insects squinting as we rode past.

After getting the Z1 Artemis, it has quickly become my favorite EDC. Absolutely amazing light with pretty much no complains. Had to cop another one but this time with some custom coloration. The 3500K R is very very nice with just the right amount of negative DUV.

Black one FFL5009R 5000K customized with black button
White one FFL5009R 3500K Rosy customied with brass parts.

Question How hard is a Acebeam K75 LED swap compared to a Convoy 3X21D

• Upvotes

I recently swapped out the SBT90 in my old 3x21d for the newer F150r in 4000k and it's a nice improvement over the original LED.

I know the Acebeam X 75 is notoriously difficult to disassemble and LED swap, so I have a bad feeling that the K 75 will be just as hard.

Maybe someone on this subreddit has already done it

[Help Me] Nightshift security guard at an outdoor retail mall

Price Range: $50-$200 rechargeable

Purpose: Outdoor mall security purposes

Battery Type & Quantity: Preferably rechargeable, AA or AAA works too

Size: Not too large to weigh down a duty belt but not so small that it barely works either, fits comfortably in your hand, 7 to 9 inches

Type: Handheld for main use, a ball cap mounted headlamp as a secondary for admin/close up work requiring both hands

Main Use: Carried on a belt, it will be used to search through car windows, through bushes, dark alleys, and as "the f*can you doin over there?" Purposes

Switch Type: A side button or switch and a rear button would be great

Anything Else?: This retail location has a lot of shrubbery, bushes, short trees and weirdly shaped buildings, creating a lot of dark areas, also needs to work in the rain. Everywhere ive been looking online are just those mass marketed crap that is really bright but are cheaply made and break out so working, and I need something reliable I can depend on, but i dont need a heavy duty light like a mag light for intimidation or defense

Lantern w/Tripod Mount For 360 Cam

I need recommendations for a lantern that can tripod mount in order to survey electrical manholes using a GoPro.

My current process is to use a painter pole with a tripod adapter and a GoPro on the end to slowly spin around and take a video to later review and document the ductbank locations and cable routing. I have been either using a crappy Amazon special action camera light or taping my Acebeam E75 to the pole.

I think I'm gonna try to switch to a 360 cam instead of video, so ideally it would be a 360 lantern that has a female tripod mount on one side and a male on the other so I could stack it between the pole and the 360 cam. If such a think doesn't exist, I may just lower a lantern to the bottom on a string and keep it independent of the camera. I also may just find a mount for the E75 and give up on the 360 cam.

For a lantern, it needs:

Size doesn't matter much

USBC rechargeable

Below 100Wh (needs to be able to be on flights)

Available shipped to US by end of next week (10 days)

Ideally tripod mount both top and bottom

Bright turbo/high, I'm thinking 1000+ lumens

Runtime and longer term sustained lumens isn't a big deal as it'll be used a few minutes at a time before taking a ~30 minute break until the next manhole.

Waterproof/resistant is strongly preferred, but not strictly necessary.

Color temp doesn't matter. High CRI is nice, but not really critical.

Ideally less than $100 so I don't have to explain too much on the expense report.

18650 EDC Flashlight

Hello!

I currently have a pokelit AA and Skilhunt E2a v1 but I am wanting something different.

I would like something more robust overall compared to the skilhunt and more throw compared to the pokelit.

I am not a fan of the single switch mode selection so something with 2 switches preferably. I would also like something slim but I understand that it will be bigger than what I currently have. High CRI is nice as well.

I was looking at the skilhunt m150 v4, fenix pd35r ace, or one of the convoy options. If anyone has pictures of these or other lights compared to the pokelit or skilhunt that would be extremely helpful!

Thanks!

Edit: forgot to mention price around $70 or less!

Wizard C2 Pro (warm) and D4K, SST-20 4000K. (Also three candles!)

A recent storm blew down one of our trees - right on top of the power line. Because of the number of properties affected and the fact that we're isolated we were one of the last to get the power back on, so three nights without it. The headlamp was invaluable, hands-free lighting makes things so much easier. I would definitely recommend one if you don't have one already. I had two spare batteries for each, but as I was only using just enough light to see what I needed to do they're both still at just over 4 volts. The aux lights on the D4K came in very handy for finding it in the near-total darkness on night 2 when it was cloudy.

I also found the stepped levels comforting, main 1 (42 lumens) on the headlamp claims 43 hours of run-time, although for inside the house firefly 3 (5.6 lumens) was enough and that claims 12 days.

Of course, being a moth, I also had my E75 and SC65 on standby with fully-charged batteries but didn't need to use them. I am glad that I had charged spare batteries even though I didn't need them in the end, the thought of running out of battery power and the spares being sat at 3.6 volts would not have been good.

Nitecore EDC23 finish after just two days with keys

Nitecore EDC23 finish after just two days with keys

My EDC23 already has visible scuffs and discoloration after just two days in a pocket with my keys. I tried wiping it with alcohol, but the marks won’t come off.

For comparison, the TINI 2 in the photos is three years old and has been used heavily. Its finish started wearing almost immediately, and this is how it looks now. I bought the TIP SE at the same time. It’s had a somewhat easier life, but its finish has held up much better.

I really like the EDC23’s form factor and was planning to get an EDC29 next. Then I checked the reviews on Nitecore Store and found a verified buyer reporting that the green coating was coming off the edges in under a month. I’ve included screenshots of that review alongside my photos.

I’m not buying the EDC29 now. This finish durability is a dealbreaker for me.

Scratches are expected when carrying a light with keys, but this much wear in two days is pretty disappointing. Anyone else seeing this on their EDC23 or EDC29?

Question keychain / pen light

Hello everybody. I am looking for a gift for my beloved partner , she works with patients and works late hours in the dark too , I want to give her something like the rovyvon a1 keychain or fenix e01 v2 , I would also consider something similar to the Wuben plo1. Now I would prefer something that comes with a battery that can be charged itself but also throw another spare Standard one in like perhaps 14500 , 18650 . Thanks for reading !

It has weird uneven flower-shaped hotspot up close, I don't know if it is just because the emitter is not properly placed in center or just normal.

L2S also has tighter hotspot and more defined hotspot than Manker E05 II in turbo.

All in all, I am satisfied with my purchase. Good light with such affordable price.

Recommendation Good headlamp for hiking and work?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Edit: if I did something wrong here please let me know. I noticed im getting a couple dislikes. Sorry if this was a dumb question..

Hey everyone, im new here! Now im sure I dont much about flashlights like yall. But I've always been obsessed with them. Lol. Like I love having multiple different types and styles of flashlights. So when it comes to one that I'll be wearing on my head, I dont just want any random one. I like going hiking in the great smokies multiple times a year, plus im currently an amazon delivery driver and now that its getting dark out, i need a new reliable lamp. The one on the left is a Bushnell one from Walmart. High setting is around 650 lumen. It also has red light. The one on the right I got from work it says "KROSSLAN" and you can take it off the head band and put clips on it. Which i LOVE for hiking bcuz that means I can use a headlamp plus clip this to my backpacks shoulder strap. So the one on the right is just mainly my clip on light for hiking.

Well im in the market for a new headlamp. I like the Bushnell, I've had it for years. It's adjustable so I can aim it at different angles which I love. But unfortunately it broke so it only goes to a few different angles now. So im hoping to find a good reliable headlamp that doesnt weigh alot that I can use both hiking and at work on my routes. I really wanna good bright one that maybe has an adjustable focus from like flood to spot light. One thing i like about my Bushnell is that when the rechargeable battery dies, I can quickly swap it out with 3AAA batteries instead of having to wait for it to charge again. But the batteries only last like 2 hours on high and 3 on low. Im just hoping yall can give good recommendations of a headlamp with good battery life, is also very bright for work and hiking in mountains where I need to see good, good adjustable focus spotlight, and definitely a head band like mine. I can not stand those ones with the small stringy head bands lol.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Emitter swapped my SP36 with 2700k 519a

Thumbnail

So finally got around to finishing my emitter swap on a SP36 BLF (and replacing the capacitor I borked while trying to open the darn thing). I've been using a 4000k version as my "hotel light" when I travel, because so many hotels have god awful lighting. I like the SP36 because it lets me run fairly bright while plugged in and charging, so it replaces a hotel lamp quite well. But I do prefer warmer light when in the room.

Since they never had the 2700k version in stock, I ordered a 5000k version and figured I'd try swapping to some 519a emitters. Opening it up was a royal pain, mine was glued really well. Got it open but broke a tiny capacitor, and it sat on my bench for months. Finally got around to replacing it, and the rest of the emitter swap went well.

Overall I'm quite satisfied. It's a bit throwier than the LH351Ds, which is most apparent in the side by side moonlight mode shot. I didn't bother with a dedome, since it's mostly going to be pointing at the ceiling of a hotel room and it's already plenty warm. It's not quite as bright as the 4000k, but that might be due to only using 2 batteries instead of all 3. The 519as can't take as much current, so until I can find some max 7A discharge cells I'm playing it safe. Don't want to turbo it and fry the emitters by accident. Still plenty bright for my needs, and lights up a room well.

Looking for an 18650 flashlight with ~40–45k candela, instant turbo, and a pocket-friendly switch

Looking for an 18650 flashlight with ~40–45k candela, instant turbo, and a pocket-friendly switch

Hi folks!

I'm looking for recommendations for an 18650 flashlight with around 40–45k candela, instant access to turbo, and preferably a side switch that won't accidentally activate in my pocket.

I currently own several ThruNite TN12 Pros, and I really like the instant turbo access from the tail switch. It's great for quickly checking an area for potential threats, snakes, or anything else that might be lurking in the dark. Unfortunately, I've dropped one of mine, and the tail switch has become unreliable unless I fiddle with it.

There are two things I don't particularly like about the TN12 Pro:

  1. Accidental activation: The side switch is too easy to bump while carrying it in my pocket. I've had it turn on unintentionally and heat up my pocket.
  2. Driver efficiency: The driver isn't particularly efficient, and the light heats up quickly. Since I primarily use turbo for brief, intermittent searches and scans, this isn't a dealbreaker, but I'd love something with a more efficient buck driver.

Ideally, I'm looking for:

  • 18650 battery
  • Around 40–45k candela (or more)
  • Instant turbo access, preferably via a tail switch
  • A recessed or protected side switch that won't accidentally activate in a pocket
  • Efficient buck driver, if possible
  • Around $50 or less

I'd like to keep the price reasonable because I'm planning to buy several—one for each car and one for each family member to carry.

Bonus points if there's also an 18350 version (or a compatible short tube) for easier purse or pocket carry.

I'm not necessarily looking for maximum sustained turbo output. Quick, reliable access to a powerful beam is my main priority.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Best AA/14500 Headlamp ?

Post image
38 Upvotes

I’m currently using a Skilhunt H150 V3 with a 1.5V lithium-ion battery, and I know H150 V4 has been released.

Are there any other AA/14500 right-angle lights worth considering, with a good driver, good UI, and a good LED, other than the lights shown in the photos (which include various headlamps)?

If I go with a 14500 light, I’d prefer one with built-in USB-C charging.

Any recommendations?

For reference, here's a comparison of battery capacity with mainstream headlamps that use AAA batteries.

AAA × 3

Eneloop (900 mAh each): 1.2 V × 2700 mAh (900 mAh × 3) = 3240 mWh

AA/14500

Eneloop (2500mAh): 1.2 V × 2500mAh = 3000mWh

14500 (1500 mAh): 3.6 V × 1500 mAh = 5400 mWh

1.5 V lithium-ion (2200 mAh): 1.5 V × 2200 mAh = 3300mWh

Review Switch to Malkoff

Have been a surefire guy for quite some time now but dove into the Malkoff pool with the MDC E2HT V3 EZP.

Pretty impressed so far. Good size. Button is efficient but the break is a little longer than I'd like. Three modes easy to cycle between. Diode and therefore the housing around said diode gets pretty warm on highest setting quickly. Seems well built and perfect size.

I ordered XTAR about a week before the flashlight and it was still two weeks after I got. I bought a NEBO because...well you can't have a new flashlight and not play with it. Now I think I like the NEBO better but haven't even charged the XTAR yet to test it.

My neighbor happened to be burning plastic or some shit but made for a good haze for a photo.

Recommendation [Help Me] Looking for a high lumens handheld flashlight with standard replaceable batteries

I have the Warrior Ultra 2500 Lumens and love it. I'm looking for a similar flashlight with the same 2500 lumens that can take standard batteries. AA, AAA, C, or anything "standard"

Price Range: $100 ballpark

Purpose: Used mostly in for short range in a wooded area, secondary as a light to see mid distanced with a focsued beam

Battery Type & Quantity: Something more standard I can quickly replace. aka not rechargeable

Size: Fits in a deep jeans pocket

Type: Handheld

Main Use: Wooded area and/or small field illumination

Switch Type: Will be handheld so any switch type

Anything Else?: Really just want a reasonably sized, removable battery, high lumen flashlight I can use while I camp without access to a power source to recharge a lithium battery. I'd rather just pop in some fresh batteries and not have to wait. I have a good headlamp, looking more for some high powered handhelds. Thanks!
