Hi all. I have no experience building bikes but I really want to learn. I found this frame on the side of the road and it feels like my time to build it out. Is it possible to convert this mountain bike to a fixed gear? I know virtually nothing so any advice helps. Thanks in advance! I’m trying to keep it very budget, under 100$ all together. So far I’ve primed it made it chrome and sealed the paint.

Edit*** concerning costs, nothing will be purchased new. I like in a city that has many bike co ops with secondhand parts

I was thinking of building my first ever fixie, I have been super intrigued with fixed gear and I will finally go for it. But I am not too sure about the ratio I should choose. Tight now my bike is a 1990 Peugeot Touraine that I inherited from my grandpa, I like to ride it on bigger gears most of the time and often notice that I usually pedal slower than most people I see riding their bikes. I literally live in the flattest city of France so I have absolutely no cliffs or any kind of slopes around. What gear could work for me to gain decent speed while still being comfortable for everyday use. I would also love to learn to skid, I don't know if it has something to do with ratio or not.

Anyway thanks for your help!

It’s a 1980’s (im not sure of the exact year) peugeot high carbon steel track bike. Currently i am running a front rim brake bc İstanbul is incredibly hilly and the gear ratio is too high for a constant skid on hills, it was built by an incredibly skilled bike builder and welder @annunakkibicycleco from a old track bike, the builder disassembled the frame’s tubes and cut them for a more street focused shorter design and tig welded them together before applying a chromium finish, the whole bike weighs less than 11kg even with a flip flop hub

Hi, can anyone identify the wheels fitted to this fuji feather, including their size? Thanks!

I’m pretty new to fixies, this is my current set up. Made for alleycats, but I also ride bmx and was hoping to combine the two. I don’t have enough money rn to build another bike, so I was hoping to just get new parts. Definitely need a new steering wheel, but other than that I’m in the blind. Would be very grateful for any tips and relatively inexpensive part recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Via this pov you see a descent.

Ive been riding for about 6 months and I have come to really love older vintage style frames such as the Cannondale track or the older Bianchi Pista's. Im still really new in terms of what brands are out there and I need some guidance on where I can find similar frame geometries.

Hello! I was wondering if this is ok for a 60mm aluminium rim. The braking surface is fine, but i'm not sure about this gap. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

i saw this on tiktok and i really like how it looks, though i cant find out more about it, so i wanted to ask for help finding the frame model and fork

I wanna see your dark green Builds please drop pics dudes___

My affinity low pro has this on the back what does it mean?

So, I mainly ride a 26er with flats, and I have some experience riding fixed gear with straps.

I know how to skid, but just enough to save my life.

I want to get into using cleats on a fixed gear.

Do I get a cleat and front brake setup, and then eventually take the front brake off?

Or

Do I learn to ride with cleats on my 26er first?

Which design do you recommend or prefer and why?

I'm going to build a new wheelset for my fixie. I don't want to buy mass-market stuff, so I'm looking for interesting brands. I'm located in Europe, in case that matters!
P.S. I'm going to buy Dura Ace 7520 this Sunday, so until then, prove me wrong!
