Zona passed away last week on the 19th. I was so devastated. But wanted to share this with his community. We remember him being lazy and slow but full of spirit and love. We cherished the years we had with him and the great care he had to live past the age of his prime. (7 years and 2 months) Thank you Zona for being with us, we love you, rest in peace. We will always remember you honey.

[Discussion] Rescue ferret

Hey y’all I recently rescued Linguini! He is the little guy with the spotted nose. He is 3 years old has never had salmon oil, egg yolk, or treats. He was raised on kitten kibble and I have been transitioning him over to oxbow kibble which is going pretty well. Now I know he is set in his ways at this age, but is there any way I could possibly get him to try salmon oil, eggs, and some treats? He sniffs them but isn’t interested

[Help] Loss of use of one back leg

Post image
• Upvotes

We have a ferret that we rescued from the free page, she is genuinely a part of a bonded pair. She's a true albino girl and blind also. I'm not sure if she hurt her leg or what happened but I wanted to know if anybody else has any experience with this. It just seems out of the blue. She will push against my hand with it but it just kinda hangs there. She didn't lose any fur so I do not believe this is adrenal. Anybody have any experience with PT for their back legs? There is literally nothing else wrong with her. We believe she's 3, and sadly, we are her and her friends 3rd, and last, home. I really want to help her.

[Help] Insulinoma

I noticed yesterday that my 7 year old girl was struggling to eat and seemed lethargic. I took her to the emergency vet. Her blood glucose was in the mid 40s I believe and they gave her dextrose and gave me 14 days of prednisolone. She already has adrenal gland disease. When we brought her home from the vet she just wanted to sleep, she ate a small amount of food from my hand. I’ve been syringe feeding her 2-3 ml of a soup made from her kibble every two hours. She’s moving around occasionally but then gets tired and lays down. She just been looking tired and idk if it’s because her sugar is still low or if the crash was taxing on her. About 9 hours from now she will hit 24hrs after her first dose of prednisolone. I plan to use my alpha track 3 soon before her next feeding to check her level. I’m distraught. Do I keep giving the medication a chance to do its job or do I call it and euthanize her? I don’t want to drag her on if she can’t pull through. I plan to increase the amount during her next feeding and feed every 4 hours instead of two. She’s definitely slightly improved since we brought her back home but it’s been a slow progression. It’s been 14 hours since she’s been home.

[Help] How do you manage

Ferret parents of Reddit, do your rooms and/or homes have that musky odor? How do you guys manage it?

I'd really like to adopt a bonded pair, but my housemate doesn't think or want me to get them.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or help.

[Health] female ferrets - implant vs neutering

My vet told me to get them an implant bc of adrenal disease when theyre 7/8 months old. My breeder said to definitely get them neutered instead, she did it a couple times and her ferrets never got adrenal disease.
Idk what to do, implants are def more expensive on the long run, but i wanna do whats best for their health.
Any opinions on that?
