Removing smog

Hey guys I have bought a “87 firebird GTA, and I cant seem to get the smog system off the pipes going into the exhaust manifold there’s nuts on them i think 13 or 14mm but they’re so close I can’t seem to get a wrench in there, any help on how to remove them? Ive gotten the pump of its just the pipes going around and I haven’t found a good video on it or how to fully do it? Thank you!

If you're fine with deleting you can just cut the pipes off and take out with a socket. Can plug up the exhaust manifold with pipe threaded plugs. They may leak a little. If you can salvage it and get it off without cutting, some restorer may buy it

because there’s not a lot of clearance what tool would you use?

I mean, any sort of cutting tool, I removed mine when I was in tech school in 2008 at 18 years old, I can't remember what we used. A dremel would work, tin snips maybe. I just remember cutting them or breaking them away and then removing a them with a socket

hit it with a hammer to get it loose and then get a wrench on it. Although after a few strong taps mine came out by hand

Alright thank you, also for the piping that goes around the engine how would you take it out?

If you can, remove it but make sure you don't end up with a vacuum or exhaust leak. So only remove things you can then block off
