๐Ÿชฉ National Final / Selection Canadaโ€™s Choice | Recap & Artist Suggested Song Snippets

I put this together as I was looking up the songs the artistโ€™s recommended voters listened to anyway and thought it would be nice to share. It includes the artist intros, them saying which song(s) to listen to and 30-40 seconds of the songs (where they recommended two I included shorter clips of both). I also kept the bit at the end about how to vote for Canadians.

Hope you enjoy!

Sorry for the video quality I was watching the game on my computer but the New Jersey Devils are facing the Dallas Stars and they started playing Bara Bada Bastu (Sweden 2025) during a play stoppage lol

NHL teams love playing ESC songs from Nordic countries Iโ€™ve heard Euphoria, Ich Komme, and Cha Cha Cha before

Eurovision Asia ZOOP "Warm-Up Act" Contest Controversy: Organizers dismiss finalists' concerns as Internet Archive timestamps reveal unannounced rule edits to Section 3 and bypassed jury stage (Section 6)

Following the conclusion of the ZOOP "Warm-Up Act" contestโ€”organized by official Eurovision Song Contest Asia partner ZOOP to select the opening act for the upcoming showcase in Bangkokโ€”top finalists have raised serious transparency concerns regarding contest governance.

Finalist Kian Butler, acting as a representative on behalf of finalists (including Asifa Lahore, John Saga, and So Jeong Shim), recently shared the official email response received from the ZOOP management team. The response dismissed the formal concerns raised by stating the challenge was "run in accordance with its published Terms and Conditions."

However, a detailed review of the contest terms via the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine) and public finalist statements reveals major procedural discrepancies that contradict that official statement:

  1. Official Dismissal vs. Archive Evidence

ZOOP's Stance: Management claimed via email to finalists that the contest was conducted strictly according to published rules.

The Discrepancy: Timestamped archive data directly exposes unannounced eligibility modifications and bypassed evaluation clauses.

  1. Bypassed Top 5 Jury Evaluation Stage (Section 6)

The Official Term: Section 6 of the contest rules mandated that the Top 5 entries would advance to an official ZOOP team jury evaluation based on vocal performance, stage presence, and community engagement to select the winner.

The Discrepancy: Finalists confirmed they were never contacted for performance submissions, video reviews, or jury evaluations before a winner was abruptly announced.

  1. Unannounced Modifications to Eligibility Rules (Section 3)

The Rule Edit: An Internet Archive comparison between the initial September 30 snapshot and the live terms page shows an added residency clause to Section 3:

"Eligibility is based on the country where you live when you enter and throughout the Challenge Period, not on your nationality or where your ZOOP account is registered."

Timestamp Discrepancy: Despite this clause appearing on or near Winner Announcement Day, the header timestamp on the official terms page still reads "September 30" with no changelog or revision note present.

  1. Unaddressed Leaderboard Anomalies

Finalists noted unexplained late-stage vote surges, including an influx of 900 votes within the final 24 hours for an entry without an active public campaign.

๐Ÿช€ Junior Eurovision Junior Eurovision Must Fix the Voting System.

I know it is a silly kids competition, but I feel like we need to talk about how Junior Eurovision is broken.

I say this because for the televote, voters vote for three countries, which leads to a more dispersed result which makes it harder to get a "bad" televote score.

Take this years results. The difference behind the most and least jury points was 108 points, while the difference between most and least televote points was 56 points.

The problem is that this means that countries who struggle in the jury cannot recover. North Macedonia tied for 8th in the televote and still placed last overall.

This problem is further worsened by the fact that 4 countries (Georgia, Armenia, France and Spain) control the jury for the most part, which has caused those countries to disproportionately succeed in the contest recently.

It is time to change the system to even the playing field.
