Discussion “This isn’t the 80’s, you need to catch a d***”

Lol.

Im thinking of that one scene back in season one where Jules finds out Kat is a virgin. I’ll never forget how shocked Jules was and what she said, it made me laugh. But it also confused me. Two reasons:

1) Do girls (speaking as a girl myself) really pressure each other to lose their virginity like that in high school? I was running with a very nerdy crowd back then so I guess I wouldn’t really know, but I know the stereotype of boys pressuring each other. I know that’s common. I always thought girls were generally less pushy about that thing. It felt weird that Jules was being like that towards Kat.

2) Jules shouldn’t really be talking…her sex life at the time seemed degrading and painful. I guess that was apart of the point of her character, how she has a somewhat skewed view of sex and relationships. Just thought that was a little rich of her.

Does anyone else remember that scene? What are your thoughts?

Discussion Season 3 - Music

Would Lana Del Ray have been a better choice instead of Hans Zimmer for the last season of Euphoria? I feel like Lab was good for Season 1 and 2 but Hans Zimmer didn’t hit for me.

Discussion After watching all 3 seasons of Euphoria, this quote from Levinson reeks of Projection to me...

Quote in question: https://time.com/6282102/the-idol-cannes-hbo-controversy/

Yes, Sam. It is in fact everyone else that is worthlessly porn-brained and therefore thinks less of women who are unapologetically sexual.

Discussion New To Euphoria - Season 3 should have never been made

I had been hearing about the show for years. After a failed attempt two years and sheer boredom I wanted to give it a go. Season 1 was electrifying, balanced, heart wrenching hilarious, brilliant, beautiful --- EVERYTHING you want in a show. Season 2, while scattered, had INCREDIBLE moments. Season 3 is just painful... absolutely painful... devolution in every sense of the word. I'm really heartbroken they didn't just stop at Season 2.

Discussion I’m disappointed with Lexie’s arc at the end of Season 3 (in case anyone hasn’t watched it yet, there might be spoilers, if that’s a concern for you) Spoiler

Lexie is initially presented as a non-religious character, someone completely removed from faith, and for a long time, she remained that way. First I actually liked that. I’m just tired of how, in American movies and shows, whenever a character is introduced as an unbeliever, it’s almost inevitable that they’ll eventually have some kind of «epiphany» and «find the true path.» This even happens in stories that are supposedly liberal, and it’s like «Euphoria» is definitely a prime example of it. I was glad that, for once, this wouldn't be the case, that at least one character would remain as she was. But no: her arc concludes in the final episode with her starting to read the Bible and embracing all of that, too.

People don’t talk about this much, I’ve barely even seen it mentioned at all, but while we’ve made great steps compared to most films from the past in terms of representing women and, in particular, marginalized groups, which is great, and while we’re addressing important topics more often, when the hell are we finally going to start including atheist characters, and NOT as people who eventually «see the light» or «change», but simply as normal human beings? Especially considering that we often champion causes that are fundamentally incompatible with religious dogma, yet, somehow, it’s still apparently impossible to just show ordinary characters who have nothing to do with religion. Is this kind of representation banned in the US or what? Sorry not sorry

Discussion I kinda liked Season 3

It was wild and absolutely a huge pivot from the show but by no means was it bad. I do think Nates storyline, was a bit whacky and humorous but felt like more could have been done. Same with Jules, and Cassie. I loved where Maddy was going. Alamo's character was intense and I genuinely liked his arc. There was so many memorable characters this season. The story itself wasn't amazing but it definitely had me at the edge of my seat. Not to mention all the cinematography, music and acting all around.

Discussion What does Cassie’s morning routine tell us about her in season 2? Spoiler

Spoilers for season 2 only.

Cassie puts so much work into getting ready before school. On the surface she is taking charge: waking early, planning every detail, trying different looks.

But the result she wants depends on Nate noticing her. All that work leaves him with the final say on whether the morning feels worth it.

That makes the scene sad to me. She is doing more and more, but seems to have less room for herself.

Do you read the routine as a way for Cassie to feel in control, or as a sign that she has given Nate too much say over how she feels about herself? Is there a moment in season 2 when she notices that herself?

I am interested in the scene and her choices, rather than giving her a diagnosis or excusing how she treats Maddy.

Discussion Season 3 is exhausting

I’m on ep7 bruh what is even going on anymore. The first two seasons were intense but there was a structure and cohesive theme. This season, though has its highlight moments, has been all over the place and just a slog to get through.

Discussion Unpopular opinion: Leslie Bennett is an awful mother Spoiler

Post image
0 Upvotes

When I was a teenager, I suffered because of my abusive family, so I thought it was an honest, necessary and fine thing for Leslie to say that Rue "is not a good person" during her breakdown in season 2, and then to say that she didn't care anymore whether Rue relapsed or not, since she was so tired of her.

But now, as an adult, I rewatched it and my perception changed: it's devastating and, probably, one of the most disgusting things you can say to your own child. It's heartbreaking. Leslie herself is hugely at fault for Rue developing an addiction, for tons of reasons: she abused and beat Rue, she didn't hire a good nurse to take care of her husband and made Rue do it instead, she didn't keep an eye on her... And then, suddenly, she's playing the good mother and the victim when Rue OD'd. It's as if washing her daughter when she's sick or taking care of her is not her basic responsibility but a "gift" for Rue. She always ends up BLAMING her own child for being sick. Excuse me, what? Can't you just ask yourself instead how YOUR CHILD ended up in this situation? Oh, yeah, that's too much responsibility.

How is that supposed to be a healthy environment for a child? Of course there are a lot of hard times, but you are her mother, and she didn't ask to be born. Children can't take care of themselves, physically or mentally, because they aren't developed enough yet.

And when Rue FINALLY decided to stay sober for herself and not for someone else, Leslie drops the bomb: as soon as Rue turns 18, she's going to be out of the house. Honestly, the level of stupidity and neglect... Does she want Rue to relapse again and die? Saying those things and calling her selfish doesn't really help. I understand she wanted to take care of Gia, but that doesn't mean you can cut your own child off. I actually think that if Leslie hadn't thrown Rue out, Rue wouldn't have ended up in "slavery" and died, tbh, because she would have had somewhere to go and a safe place to be.

Idk, maybe I'm too European to understand that kind of stuff. What do you think, guys?

Yes I know people on girls/redditors hate her but I feel like for every 10 people who cancel the game cause of her, you’d get 100 new players. Could be good business just like the Kim Kardashian skin. No problem agreeing to disagree
