Question Found my stolen bat on eBay. Reported to eBay. Will the Police help me get it back?
An eBay buyer purchased a Nick Castellanos Game Used Baseball Bat from me in 2021. The bat was shipped and delivered. The buyer claimed that he received a different bat and initiated a Return - Wrong Item/Not as Described to exploit the money back guarantee. He then proceeded to return the different game used baseball bat, so eBay would process a refund for him.
eBay sided with him. As of tonight, the same buyer is now selling the same bat with same MLB Authentic Hologram on it on his ebay site.
I contacted eBay and they took down all of the information provided. The original listing ID number from my listing, the Return Case #, the messages between the buyer and I, as well as the current listing ID associated with the Seller for the stolen bat.
eBay stated that they would review the case, but can't guarantee anything can be done. They told me I couldn't get my bat back.
Is the only option to contact police, file a report, and let them seize the bat? The buyer/seller committed mail fraud and now is selling stolen goods to other eBayers.
If any eBay Reps are on here, please explain to me how stolen goods are allowed to be sold on your site when there is proof from point A, B, and C that items were stolen via exploitation of the money back guarantee?
Also, please be aware….if you purchase the bat, you are in receipt of stolen goods. DO NOT BUY IT.
