If you walk around down town, you can see that a lot of people park their motors and cars to the side roads to the point that its hard for people to walk through another establishments because vehicles are obstructing the side roads and much worse, the side walks. (Especially kanang crossing/junction near sa portal) grabe! Traffic pa gane kaayo, naka parking pa jud sa side road. Lisod kaayo mo agi ang mga tao intawon.

No matter how big/mall the side roads is, it shouldn’t be a parking spot because that is intended for the moving vehicles to refrain from congestion and accidents.

I hope the dumaguete city traffic officers does something about this. 🙏

Mt. Talinis Trails in Valencia Closed Starting Nov. 1.

The Municipality of Valencia will temporarily close all trails leading to Mt. Talinis within its territorial jurisdiction effective November 1, 2026.

Municipal Mayor Edgar Z. Teves Jr. signed Executive Order No. 45, Series of 2026, on October 26, ordering the closure to allow the mountain's ecosystem to recover.

According to the order, the number of climbers in Mt. Talinis — also known as Cuernos de Negros — has grown significantly due to increased interest in outdoor activities, contributing to the deterioration of its ecosystem which has already endured damage from years of continuous human activity.

Mayor Teves said the closure will provide the mountain a "reasonable amount of time of undisturbed season" to fully recover and maximize its benefits for the people, especially Valencianons.

The Philippine National Police will lead the implementation of the closure in coordination with the Municipal Tourism Office.

The executive order did not specify when the trails will reopen. Trekkers and tour organizers are advised to coordinate with the Valencia Tourism Office for further advisories.
