👋New Driver🤗 Paid 25.00 to stock at target

4.5k Upvotes

I’m very new to DoorDash and this was my second time out. I wish I took a screenshot but I got an offer to “stock shelves” at target. It paid me $25 and I’ll get another $10 if my pictures are good enough in a couple days.

The only thing it wanted me to do was stock simply grapefruit juice. It told me to go into the stock room and if anyone asked what I was doing to show them my “credentials” which was just a little badge from DoorDash on my phone. The shelf was empty and target workers were already stocking and the juice was on their cart. I told them I needed to stock it and the gal handed me one bottle. I told her no I need to stock all of it for DoorDash and we both giggled and she was like okay. The app kept asking me to take pictures and I felt like I was in the way of the target workers trying to stock the same area.

It was so strange but the easiest money I made all day. Are these tasks normal? Has anyone actually gone in a stock room?

🎉Achievement👍 I ordered food during a taco bell pick up and had the entire staff in tears!

Okay, I have to share this lmao

This had be the funniest and most wholesome interaction I've ever had on a shift.

Ok since it's around 1am, absolutely no one in line and I happen to have three bucks in cash from a tip earlier. I figure, screw it, I'm getting my usual cheesy bean and rice burrito with extra creamy jalapeño sauce. Foreshadowing .🤫

I pull up to the speaker and tell the guy I'm picking up a DD,, but I also want to order something for myself.

He asks what I want and and i go , "Cheesy bean and rice burrito, easy beans, and put as much creamy jalapeño sauce on that thing as you're legally allowed to "

I chose to say it this way because I have a history of not getting the extra sauce I ask for and its essentially the main reason I get the burrito, its the cheapest way to get that sauce too. So, i figured instead of doing my awkward explanation of previous experiences to make sure I get my sauce, i decided to say it a different way. 😂

So this dude looses the monotone voice and losses his marbles lmao Like you'd think i told the funniest joke hes ever heard.

Then I hear him talk to his coworker, "THIS DUDE JUST SAID PUT AS MUCH SAUCE ON IT AS WE CAN LEGALLY CAN.

background dude starts cracking up then another guy gets on the speaker as well,

He goes, "I got you bro, but listen, you lile can't be mad and complain. Cuz I'm gunna make you swim in this sauce for real"

I go "Bet"

So I pull up to the window, and before either of those two guys even comes over, a female employee walks up and goes, "Listen dude you seriously can't be mad at us. This thing is gonna be a real mess and tbh Idon't even think you're gonna be able to eat it."

Now all 3 employees are standing at the window, one hands me an entire flat bag so I could use it as a tray, and one of the guys goes, "aye just so you know, we threw a second one the normal way because we honestly don't think you're gonna like this one"

How sweet right? Free!🥹

So now, the other male worker goes, "okay but like, would you mind taking a bite of it right here?"

Chick employee slaps his shoulder goin noo, no, don't make him do that 🤣

At this point, I'm fully invested in how ridiculous they made it, no one was behind me , so, - screw it, lets send it. As you can see from the pic, this thing was HEAVY and THICC. Like...practically the size and weight of skimpy chipotle. burrito.

Now they're all staring at me like they're waiting for the ball to drop lol they definitely thought they got me, but little did they know this was my dream come true 🤣 i take a biggghbite and its just a TSUNAMI😁😁

I give them a 👌 sign and spat out a "this is perfect, exactly what i wanted" after a few chews.

they start laughing all over again about the repeating the whole "as much as you're legally allowed" line to each other. In a way you'd imagine hyped up 20 year olds🤣

Sooo we all had a llaugh,, to which I realized opps, I need to drive off with this order! we wished each other a great night, and I drove off after i rolled the rest back up for later 🤤

I absolutely love making people laugh so that was like CRACK🤣

Tldr ; my obsession for creamy jalapeño sauce created funny, wholesome interaction with the stadd

Soon as I saw the delivery instructions I knew there was no tip. You're gonna tell me how much I'm appreciated but won't do the one thing in this job that shows appreciation- leave a tip. Fake ass people

The notes said "Go into big boy entrance leave with front desk lady".
While waiting for the order i went on google maps and tried to figure out what was going on. the building is set a little ways off the road so its hard to see with street view. there were lots of truck trailers and semi trucks in the photo so i thought, maybe its a trucking company and they want me to use the big truck door entrance.
wasnt until i got there that i noticed the statue up next to the building.. not sure why its there, but i like it. (no it was never a restaurant its a giant factory and they make cabinets.)

Complaints Towing people are whack

Went to drop off an apartment order. The customer isn't picking up the phone and refused to put details about a locked door with no code that has to be swiped with a card to be opened. This is all within three to five minutes. I start walking back to the guest parking spot I took and see the tow truck that was driving around endlessly have my car jacked up driving away. I ran after him yelling stop that's my car finally caught up to him at his window and told him what I was doing.

Him:

"Why is your hood cold than if you just parked the car?"

Me:

"It's middle of fall. I can also touch your hood and it's not hot either what are we talking about?"

Told me it's 100$ to put it down, but luckily he dropped it for free. I say luckily, but we all know that is just some predatory bull to get a easy lick. To everyone with no guest or visitor parking clearly labeled with no other words attached when it's pitch black at night, you will be coming out to get your food now due to this one tow driver enjoy.

It actually kind of made my night. It was slow and not going the best. I've been strict on my diet the past six weeks but when something like this falls into my lap... I couldn't say no. Thank you Hungry Howie's!

💰Earnings 🤑 How many cherry pickers do gig work full time?

Im curious because I see so many on here advocate for it, they wear it as a badge of honor boasting about there single digit acceptance rate.

Im not saying you should take crap. Im platinum and my AR is between 40 and 50, and total score right now is 87. But ive noticed I can make money significantly faster now as opposed to when I was being extremely picky. Before when i was silver, i would hardly see an order over 10 bucks, but now i get them often. I also get lots of ad on orders that pay great with low mileage. Like this past Saturday I made 300 in 8 hours. And I even got lucky with a 100 dollar tip.

❔Driver Question 🤔 Is DoorDash getting harder for drivers lately?

Between questionable delivery pay, dealing with customers who forget to provide gate codes, and the debate over bringing kids along while dashing, there's always something new to talk about in the DoorDash community!

What's been your biggest frustration lately, and do you think things are getting better or worse for drivers? Share your experiences!

Other I wish every customer who doesn't put the gate code in the app, doesn't answer the phone AND has the map pin set to the leasing office a very nice ice cold food and the store got your order wrong

I'm on a goddamn clock, y'all. If you can't be bothered to set your app up correctly or actually pay attention to your phone when you're waiting for an order, then you better be ready to walk your ass down to the gate to get your food. And if I do manage to tailgate someone through the gate and then find your unlabeled apartment building in this Escher ass labyrinth of an apartment complex, I hope that the store completely fucked up your order.

🗞️NEWS 📰 DoorDash to buyout InstaCart

DoorDash is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire grocery delivery rival Instacart in a deal that could value the company at around $17 billion. The potential transaction, which could be finalized quickly, aims to consolidate online retail infrastructure.

I don't like this. I enjoy having the two separate. What is this going to do for us gig workers??!

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 You really said "That's when you get out and walk", KNOWING DAMN WELL your complex was roped off for new paving. Enjoy your quarter mile walk. Maybe you could use the exercise

After doing this a year, I finally got ONE OF THOSE orders. Video was taken, just to be safe. Drove to the apartment complex and halfway through, it was roped off, while the apartment was over a quarter mile away. I call and text a few times, to no answer of course. I walk a little more to see how far down the place is, which is easily 5 to 7 minutes walk, and time is running, so I contact support and got the new AI assist, and IT INSTRUCTED ME to call/text again, but finally said to drop at the closest apartment. I take this video and leave. 20 MINUTES LATER while doing another dash, I get a call. "You dropped my food at the wrong place!!" ME: "I tried contacting you multiple times, and DOOR DASH told me to drop it at the closest. It's at complex 314." HER: "No. We live at 334." and i remind her about her place being blocked, and she said to me "THAT'S WHEN YOU GET OUT AND WALK". My response was, Door Dash support told me to put it there, so it's at 314 apt 101, if you want to walk and pick it up. Have good night, bye, CLICK.(Yes, I still say click!)

I tell you what, had I gotten a message that they tipped high, they did not, because I would have to walk to their place, hell yeah. You knew what you were doing, but it didn't work HA HA!

❓Customer Question🤔 Why do drivers call before they're even at the address?

• Upvotes

Lately everytime I order DD I'll get a call from the driver when they're still 3-5 minutes away. I know because I check the map consistently while I'm waiting for an order. I'm staying at a hotel for work and it's only been happening since then. Does it have something to do with being in a hotel? Could it be a Nebraska thing (I've never been here before this trip)

👋New Driver🤗 can you actually make money doing doordash?

• Upvotes

my work hours are being cut (going from 3 days to 1 - i am a full time student so only working part time) and i need a way to make some money for the next couple of weeks until they bring my hours back or i get a new job. i’m literally only making enough for groceries and gas, and i have bills and a car payment that i need to pay. once i pay for gas, i have maybe 50 dollars for groceries.
is doordashing actually worth it? do you make money doing it?

I used to be in the car all day for literally 18 hours a day and spent a lot of time just waiting for orders in a pretty busy city. Atlanta metro area so it could be also that there are more drivers.

🤔SCAM🧐 Almost scammed today! BEWARE!!

Got a COD from pizza hut. Right after I accepted the order I get a call from Doordash, or so it said that on my phone. They said the order was going to be canceled and I needed to stay on the line to make sure it was canceled on my end and then said I would get reimbursed the $45 once I gave them my crimson info.. I immediately told the guy I knew what he was trying to do. Hung up and called support and reported it. Support wasn't too concerned, but it really had me shaken up.

❔Driver Question 🤔 What is your favorite thing about being on the road?

I been doing DoorDash for a while since I left my previous job, before I started I was feeling very sad from being stuck at home and the feeling of losing independence over money.

Now that I do DoorDash I enjoy driving around the city, a lot of times I get to discover areas Ive never knew about, and I love to see all the decor in the houses (specifically this time of the year).

Also Ive interacted with a lot of nice people, and discovered a lot of restaurants I eventually got to try with my fiancé.
