News Latitude 64 - Shine ?
Shine? Royal max? Whattup with this thang?

The shiny new discs you got last week didn't make your golf game any better, huh?
Welcome to the Form Check Weekly Thread, a weekly thread that will be stickied every Monday morning for a few days. All form check requests will be referred to here.
There have been some fantastic Form Check guides but this one by MVP_Steve is far and away the best - https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/760ckm/form_check_psa_how_to_leave_a_form_check_request/

You text the owner. He's moved many states away and tells you to take it to someone else who still lives in town.
What are you thinking at this point?

I am watching coverage of the 2026 UDG Aces Epic Stadiums at Berlin's Olympic Stadium, which features this guy, Sylwester Przybyla, who is wearing a glove on his throwing hand.
I have never seen that before. The commentators mention he has an ultimate background, so I assume it is the same type of glove I've seen being used in ultimate frisbee.
Has anyone ever played with the glove before? To me it seems like it would be bothersome and doesn't offer any type of advantage over not wearing a glove. But perhaps there is something I don't know?

Hey everyone!
We’re Grassland Discs, a small Canadian disc golf manufacturer making 3D-printed discs, and we’re really excited to share our latest collaboration!
We teamed up with artist Gabrielle Rose From the Dead to bring some of her incredible artwork to our discs, just in time for Halloween. We couldn’t be happier with how these turned out!
The From the Dead Series launches today! We’re starting with a very limited run of just 10 of each design. We’re literally getting these off the printers now, so more will follow as production catches up.
We’ve also made some glow versions! We’ll be sharing photos of those soon, so keep an eye on our Instagram.
One of the things we’re most excited about is that every sale supports Gabrielle and her artwork. She also sells prints of these designs directly through her website if you’d rather have them on your wall!
We’d love to hear what the disc golf community thinks of these. Which design is your favourite?

Thanks for checking these out and supporting independent artists and small disc golf manufacturers!

My 3yo has started doing putting practice with me in our backyard. Exciting development! He's been forehanding full sized discs, which is impressive, and I also have some minis he uses. Is there something in between you'd recommend like a youth specific putter? I saw some recommendations for Dino Discs, but their website doesn't seem to be working so I wonder if they are no longer in business. Thanks!

I refinish wheels for a living, and a primary function of my job is powder coating. I’ve done several personal projects, but have yet to do my own basket. My buddy gave me one of his that’s been outside in his yard for longer than I’ve known him. I wish I had before photos, but who cares, just know that it didn’t compare to what it is now. Hyper Slime is the color, chains are just satin black. This thing looks amazing, and it is so bright it almost glows in low light. Photos hardly do it justice. Anyway, just wanted to show it off.

Do the companies work together? Like if someone is sponsored by Discraft, Squath, Vessi, and a 4th company... does Discraft work with the other companies on logo placement?
Is it directly proportional to how much money the company gives the player? Why would (disc company) go out of their way to print other company logos on their jerseys?
Just curious how that all works. Thanks.

When driving from the tee box, I’ve noticed most players, both amateurs and pros, will start with their head up looking toward the basket. But during their wind up, they will look down toward the disc, then back up (kinda) toward the basket ad they are releasing.
This has always seems counter-intuitive to me. To me, it seems like you should keep your eyes on the basket during the wind up. Kind of like locking in on the hoop if you’re shooting a basketball.
Im curious if someone can explain why driving form is taught this way. Is it a power over accuracy thing?

Help, I'm new to this and surrounded by courses but I just don't know what's a good brand of discs to get versus the temu option. Help me make a good purchase!

Wow…. Second time this has happened in the last week. Should I buy a lottery ticket?

And if it is does it really matter?
I’m mostly curious how many people, like myself, throw 2 discs on most shots during solo play and count them all (ie, best shot) as scoring shots. Thus lowering round scores by several strokes.
The only downsides I really see are for tracking progress accurately, and if you’re claiming a Udisc course record, which I never do. I am not good at DG. I do enjoy seeing what my rating is after concluding a round and obviously I’m not getting an honestly accurate picture there.
Where are my fellow player 2 Udiscers at?

An ace, a tournament weekend, a home course you love: disc golf has plenty of moments worth keeping, and a screenshot only goes so far. So I made trading cards for them. There are round and tournament cards, ace cards, home course cards, and even a couple of abstract designs that look great in a frame.
I’m running a small pilot to gauge interest in Feature Cards. If it goes well, I’ve got tons of other card ideas to explore. Curious to know what your Feature Card might look like? Drop a screenshot or link to a disc golf round/tournament you've played and I'll respond with a draft card.
You can see every design and order at FeatureCard.co. $6.99 a card, shipping included, US only for now.
What would you want to see, and what's missing? Happy to answer questions below.
Note: The cards in the image use made-up example data.

Looking to get a basket for my brother but don't know much about the sport, any suggestions for a backyard basket between 200 and 300 dollars would be appreciated.

Just curious on how your midrange lineup is looking?
As for myself I'm currently baging the following:
Overstable - Pyro
Straight/Stable - Prism Proton Hex (hope this one will beat in a little to be more on the straight side)
Straight - Echo
Understable - Mana
As for myself I'm hoping that the echo eventually will be seasoned enough to cykle in to the understable slot instead of the mana as that one is getting rather understable.

Is anyone experiencing the same disappointment with the project lab coat Trail by MVP?
I lost a first run Trail that was an absolute bomber and the last two PLCs I got are overstable meat hooks.

Looking for that classic point and shoot midrange. What do people like best out of these options? I’ve thrown Buzzz and Hex but looking to give other brands a try
Edit: I throw mids about 260-270 with a slight natural hyzer

After playing a bunch on my local 9 hole par 3, I decided to hit a larger course in town.
First time losing a disc.
Fished a disc out of an OB little creek first water hazard a disc has enjoyed.
Completed my first Mando.
I had fun and will try another 18 course soon. I have learned a lot from this sub!

Anyone else have trouble building a more permanent bag? I love trying new discs and can easily find something I like about most. That leads to most rounds being a newish combination of familiar and unfamiliar discs that more often than not give up some amount of strokes due to unfamiliarity. I’m good at putting those combos together but I would really like to find some STAPLES to build with.
ex: “straight”mids- you could give me a buzzz, hex, echo, md3, pathfinder, m4, compass, chariot, mako3, roc3, etc and i would be happy to throw any of them. But to commit to only bagging one for a year I couldn’t figure out how to decide. I see people leaning on hand feel as a big decision maker but that doesn’t make a significant difference to me.
Am I just crazy?

I know that the idea of vibed apps comes with all sorts of notions of its own.
However, love them, or hate them, on the who 'coded' them, we should make sure we understand what is really at stake. These vibed apps are using generated code with the creators not knowing how to put up the proper guard rails to keep PII (Personally Identifiable Information) safe. They don't know how to write software how to scale, they don't know how to sanitize inputs, they don't know how to store PII at rest.
I was recently asked to check out an app for keeping league scores, but it turned out the person who built the app, using Claude, had no idea what was actually required to maintain the integrity of the system; they simply assumed the code generated was good enough. It is not. The same system building the system could help another break it. There was no notion of how to keep PII safe, there was also no formal organization associated with it. No LLC, no C corp, no nothing, just a person with an idea, trusting the system to do the right thing.
I'm not saying that we don't deserve alternatives to what's out there for our sport, but it should come from people who understand all the reasons why software development is a science, and not just some self-appreciated art.
This might seem more esoteric than most posts for this group, but I hope you understand that it's important to treat your data with the utmost respect. It's probably best no one knows you took a snowman on the 18th hole. ;-)
