Seems like the 4th guy has his own style, the rest are almost identical.

Thats Dave Feldberg.

Feldberg has been in the game quite a bit longer than the other three. He still crushes, but the mechanics that have evolved as the game has progressed developed after he had learned his throw. While still effective in distance, Koling, McBeth, and Schusterick just learned a few years after more refined techniques came into the game. One thing you will notice is that their reach back is practically identical. The only differences are what happens right before the reach back and the amount of follow through in the hips.

(Feldberg still crushes)

I ... don't think I agree with your statement that Swedish style/technique is less refined.

Feldberg has excellent form. It is just different than the others in the video. Every one of them does the same stuff right before the hit. Gurthie, Gibson and Brinster also have a more "Swedish" throw than some, they just aren't as pronounced as Feldy. You are correct though, that style isn't as popular, however it is just as effective.

Interesting to pick up on similarities... this was actually pretty educational.

This is a great explanation of what is going on in this video. He also goes deep down the rabbit hole of backhand form in subsiquent posts His post have done more to improve my form than anyone. http://heavydisc.blogspot.com/2013/11/improving-back-hand-distance.html

McBeth, Schusterick and Koling all look identical in their pull-through. And then there's Feldberg. Just as effective, but definitely his own style.

This is mesmerizing. I could pick details from this for days.

In case anyone doesn't know, clockwise from top-left: Paul McBeth, Will Schusterick, Dave Feldberg, Jeremy Koling.

This was submitted a while ago but the original has been deleted. This is the youtube link for those interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfjiaZ9DvXQ

I'm curious to know which of the four drive the furthest.

In this particular case they went almost the same distance all of them. Depends a little on which of Shustericks drives where used (he went OB long on the first one)

TIL: I need more follow through on my throws.

I just tried this yesterday and today: result was more accuracy in throws and +20 more meters. Follow through is vital.

The biggest things I see here and need to practice are

1: Reach back starts when second step of the x-step happens (reaching back later to load the arm better)

2: Step further forward with my final step of the x-step

3: Brace hard against that front foot as it were up against a wall while rotating on the heel. Have to remind myself not to let that weight get over my front foot too much.

I keep looking at this wondering if that's how I'm doing it or do I just look like a clown trying to throw a disc.

Relatively sure it is from these drives:

5:10 for those for whom the timestamp in the link does not work.

Not max distance shots - but pretty long placement shot.

While Paul, Jeremy and Will look nearly identical compared to Dave, I find it interesting that Paul and Dave are more closely related than Will and Jeremy. They both start their reach back later and their back foot comes off the ground and rotates much quicker than Will and Jeremy. I don't know what it means but I do know I would put money on Paul and Dave before Will and Jeremy.

Edit: after watching again, rather than starting their reach back later, Will and Jeremy keep their disc tucked while Paul and Dave have it extended in front of them during the x-step. Also noticed Daves throwing arm stays close to his side where the other three have their arms reach around their back after the release.
