Interviews Ghosted by Google Recruiter for asking to reschedule interviews.
A recruiter reached out for a Staff Engineer role at Google. They wanted to have System Design and Googlyness virtual rounds first and said they would be elimination rounds; once I clear them, I will need to fly to in-office interviews. I wanted 4 weeks of prep time, I interviewer negotiated hard to only allow me 2 week. Just a few days before the System design interviews, I realised I am not ready and will bomb the interview. I politely requested 2 more weeks of time, and after that I was ghosted. Did not receive any reply over email; I have tried reaching out multiple times over email and phone, with no replies. I am shocked by how times have changed. There was a time when Google recruiters were open enough to support candidates if they needed more time, but now they just want to close the position ASAP.
The job market is brutal, with so many laid-off candidates trying to find jobs and companies reducing the no. of job openings now that AI is able to do so much.

Don't expect too much. There are thousands others who are in queue for the same job.

I'm not a recruiter but it is not entirely upto them because their bonuses/promotions/hikes are tied to the amount of candidates they bring in.
Imagine if you were a recruiter and your job was to fill a role, and you have 100s of eligible people lining up to apply for it, you see a candidate but the candidate says he needs 4 weeks time but you can't afford to wait a month when you have so many other candidates available right now so you give a little bit of leeway and tell the candidate you can wait for 2 weeks max (in the event somehow your existing candidates all magically flunk the interview) and then at the end of 2 weeks you suddenly get an email from the candidate asking for 2 more weeks. You kind of start worrying now because they just blew a deadline that they themselves set and you have even more other potentially better candidates coming in and realistically what are the chances of this person getting in when they are unprepared for an interview that they need an entire month and what happens if after 2 more weeks the candidate disappears, you can't tell your hiring manager 'oh im keeping this role open because this one candidate told me he needs time to prepare' when other candidates are already through several rounds of interviewing
So you move on. You want to reply to the person but guess what you have 100s more like them coming in asking for extensions and sending you emails that you either can't reply to them at all or you can only send automated emails.
I'm not saying its ideal OP but i am just showing you how things work and why you can't afford to take things at your own pace when there are plenty of other people in the market who are unemployed and will pull all nighters at a chance to get a job at a good company. You can complain about the ghosting but it wouldn't make a difference because everyone is crushed with the amount of work to notice

I mean yeah, this feels very obvious to me.
Unless you show promise of very good talent, there is no benefit to the recruiter to wait on you for a whole month.
It's not ideal for us as applicants, but with the amount of competition out there, you'll need to adjust as much as possible.

I joined last year and my recruiter was a gem. She addressed my queries over email promptly and was happy to schedule a call when I wanted an in-depth discussion.
It's tough luck that you had a bad experience. Try again after some time.
