Info / FAQ New & Returning Player FAQ

Post image

\An effort will be made to update this list once we know more, or see new questions pop up**

___

Q: Is the game worth getting back into?
A: Yes. The state of the game as of Monuments of Triumph is widely considered the best version of Destiny 2 we've had in a while. There is no content that will be removed. And, in the future, previously vaulted content will be returning!

Q: What is currently F2P/What is currently paid?
A: This post details that information as of September 2026.

Q: Linux?
A: Nope, sorry!

___

Q: What happened?
A: On September 21st 2026, Bungie announced that they will continue the Destiny Franchise &, as a show of good will, will be unvaulting Destiny 2 content so that we have a complete game. You can read more here: bungie article or watch it here: youtube interview.

Q: What is being unvaulted?
A: The campaigns Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. The destinations Titan, Io, Mercury, Mars, and the Tangled Shore. The Raids (sometime lairs?) Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, Scourge of the Past, and Crown of Sorrow. These are all that have been currently confirmed. We do not know if Seasonal content will be returned!

Q: Should I start now or wait for unvaulting?
A: This one is up to you. IF you want to experience the 'entire story' of destiny 2 from start to finish you could wait for unvaulting. The main reason to start now would be to get a head start on acquiring things that wont really be changing (filling out subclasses, acquiring exotics, acquiring 550 power). So, IF you'd rather have a head start, start now so you can focus on new things later.

Q: Will the unvaulting be F2P?
A: Yes.

Q: Will Holiday events be returning?
A: We don't know yet!

Q: Is Destiny 3 in development?
A: As of now, no, but Bungie have stated that the Destiny franchise will continue somehow.

___

Q: Why am I Light/Power Level 10?
A: During Edge of Fate, Bungie decided to give us a stat squish for the purposes of readability. You will notice that your damage numbers are now primarily below 5 digits as well, while in truth, you're usually dealing a higher % of damage than before due to new systems and stats like Weapons and Super. If you complete almost any activity you will be shot up to 300 power very quickly and will only have to grind up to the cap of 550. Its recommended that you infuse weapons you enjoy including exotics. However, old armor Is essentially useless and can safely be replaced with armor that has a Set Bonus. New exotic armor is also all higher stat than anything you previously had.

Q: I just came back to the game and I'm lost, what should I do?
A: This is an incredibly loaded question. Everyone has different priorities. The most common answer I've seen has been to complete the campaigns in order so you have an idea of the story and then to work on completing subclasses and filling out your exotics. By doing these three things you've enabled yourself to create basic builds.

Campaigns -> Unlock Subclasses -> Acquire Exotics/power grind -> Play whatever you want!

Campaign order as of September 2026:
Shadowkeep -> Beyond Light (Stasis Subclass) -> Witch Queen (peak) -> Lightfall (mid but Strand Subclass (peak)) -> The Final Shape (Prismatic) -> Edge of Fate (Nine Saga, which may be left behind) -> Renegades (The star wars crossover expac which includes the Praxic Blade aka Lightsaber)

Once unvaulted, the order will start with:
Red War -> Curse of Osiris -> Warmind -> Forsaken -> Shadowkeep...

Discussion Newbies, if you're doing public events somewhere, and you see a higher level guardian shooting some random thing on the side, please stop shooting all the ads and help them shoot that thing. Otherwise the public event will not be heroic and we all get less loot

Taken blights, fallen glimmer drills, please stop ruining the public events. The entire point of doing them, especially when the planet is distorted, is for tier 5 loot. You're making everyone get less loot

Gameplay / In-Game Video Just found out that the Cabal at Firebase Hades carved out an entire mountain so it's easier for their ships to take off

Must have been here dozens of times and I never noticed that part of the environment. That's definitely a Cabal solution though, I'm surprised they didn't drink the seas too.

Question / Answered What am I doing wrong here? I’m supposed to be able to get 4 rockets off with auto loading right?

And my auto loading is un enhanced. I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m popping super as soon as I possibly can after shooting the first rocket, and I’m holding down my shoot input after golden gun so I shoot another rocket as soon as I possibly can

Question Friction Fire smg

Post image

Friction Fire was my absolute favorite gun in the game. Is there any guns that came out since season of the hunt that use the same model or sfx? I still have my old one but it struggles when compared to the boosted perks and stats of tiered weapons today. Please, I want to fall in love again.

Question / Answered Will "Heavy Metal" ever come back to The Crucible?

Post image
82 Upvotes

I've been playing very consistently since Monuments of Triumph and I check almost every single day whether I play or not to see if this mode is in The crucible. I haven't seen it once. Does anybody know if they have any intention of bringing it back in? I never got a chance to try it and it looks really cool.

🛑 Update: Thanks to everybody for the reply. Evidently it's still in rotation in The crucible Ops. Everybody seems to reply with it was here two days ago "I think" or 2 weeks ago "I think". So I guess I'll just take everyone's word for it, but I've literally never seen it. Does it rotate daily, weekly, monthly? The answers are super inconsistent. Anyways thanks again Guardians, hopefully I'll get to try it out someday. ✌️

From Bungie Foundation

🚨 ANNOUNCEMENT! 🚨

Fresh off the amazing turn-out and support for the Clash of Champions PvP tournament, we've got something special launching later this week when we host our Halloween stream starting at 12 PM PT on October 30.

Introducing the Lightkeeper Collection! We're bringing back fan-favorite Bungie Foundation incentives so you can snag rewards from the past while helping make a difference for kids and communities around the world.

Lightkeeper Collection Volume 1 will be available for donation via Tiltify starting at 12 PM PT on 10/30 and run through 11/30 at 11:59 PM PT. Volume 2 will launch with a new slate of fan-favorite incentives for donation on 12/1 at 10 AM PT.

As with everything we do, this will be community led, so if there's an incentive you think we should prioritize bringing back or something we could do to enhance this program, please give us a shout. Our work is made possible by the amazing generosity of this community, and we want to work in collaboration with you all to continue to grow our impact ❤️

Gameplay / In-Game Video Solo Witness, but I forgot what I was doing

Hey folks! Back at it again with another mildly humourous Solo Witness video! I'm always a fan of running straight nonsense so I'll probably end up doing some more goofy runs!

As always, check out the Solo Raids discord if you want to get into learning how to do stuff like this!
