Mod Introduction!

Hello r/denverwomen! I am the new mod of this lovely subreddit. I wanted to start by giving a brief introduction of who I am, and then my vision. I'm open to comments and suggestions, and would love at least one or two people to help out.

About me: My name is Emma Joy. I'm a 40yo queer woman, born and raised in the Denver area. I'm a full time software/devops engineer. I have two wonderful kids.

My goal here is to help this community run smoothly so it can grow, and for it to be a place for women to meet other women and talk about what's important to us.

I'm a volunteer with a somewhat busy life. I won't be perfect. I am open to criticism. I will need help.

I'm asking three things of the community right now:

  1. We have no rules. I'm going to be making a separate post of proposed rules, but I'm open to suggestions and feedback. See rules in sidebar. Feedback welcome.
  2. Should this community stay women-only? See rule #1.
  3. Would you like to be a mod? Please send a modmail! Let me know if you have any experience, and also why you feel like you would be a good fit as a moderator.

Final note: I am not tolerant of bigotry of any kind. No racism, no homophobia, and no transphobia. Trans women are women.

Any other feedback and suggestions you have are welcome!

Ladies be careful

For everyone’s safety, please note that this person, Matthew Howard, is extremely dangerous. On September 9, he tried to kill me in Louisville. I’m a disabled woman who was beaten and strangled multiple times despite not knowing him or ever seeing him before. Please be careful!

Restorative Yoga & Sound Bath for PMDD

Together we are raising compassionate awareness and support for women with PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder). If you are unfamiliar with it, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder is a severe neuroendocrine condition that affects approximately 3%-8% of women who are of reproductive age. It causes debilitating physical and psychological symptoms for these women every month. Because of the stigma surrounding menstrual health, this condition is not often spoken about, which leads to a sense of isolation for the women afflicted by it. We are abolishing the stigma around menstrual health, and creating a safe space for women with this devastating condition to show up fully and authentically!

Although this workshop is specifically designed to support women with PMDD, everyone is welcome! Come join for this two-part workshop centered around nervous system regulation and self-compassion! 💜

Need great psychiatrist recommendation

Hi all-

I really need help finding a psychiatrist who can handle schizophrenia or substance induced psychosis - a very loved friend of mine is struggling. He already has a fear of psych docs in general, so it’s important we find the right doc for him out of the gate that is compassionate, and is used to more complex diagnosis (a psychiatrist or APP mostly doing a lot depression and anxiety management may not be the best fit.

Looking for a name of an actual doc you’d recommend, not a group.

Thanks in advance!!!

Clubbing for Halloween spots??

Hey! Recently moved from Arizona and always love going out for Halloween! I’ve been out once since moving here and the bars I went to weren’t super lively, which is similar to what I’ve heard from Denver people about the nightlife in general.

Wondering if there’s any good clubs, bars, dives that are having a fun event or are just a fun vibe to go out to on Halloween, especially since it’s a Saturday! I’m mid 20s and looking for an area with that sort of age range, into clubs/pop/EDM type stuff. TYIA:)

Filling out my ballot: Judges' past rulings?

This year, I would like to know each judge's sentencing trends in sexual-assault cases, and I'm having trouble locating this information with any efficiency. Does anyone know of a way to do this that won't take hours and hours? I feel like there must be some group that tracks controversial rulings and sentences in this area...

OR, does anyone know of any controversial cases (State of Colorado or Arapahoe County) I can look up?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi everyone! My name is Dani, and I own SKIN, a paramedical tattoo and scar revision studio located near Colfax & York in Denver. 💚

I offer services to help people feel more comfortable and confident in their skin, including:

• Areola tattooing for tinting, restoration after mastectomy or breast surgery, and gender-affirming care after top surgery.

• Inkless scar treatments for acne scars, self-harm scars, C-section scars, tummy tuck scars, and other surgical scars.

I offer free consultations so we can talk about your goals and see what treatments may be a good fit. I also offer payment plans and community discounts to make services more accessible.

I currently have one complimentary areola tattooing session available for someone who needs post-surgical or gender-affirming restoration but may not have insurance coverage or the financial means to pay out of pocket.

If you or someone you know has been looking for these services, feel free to reach out! I'm happy to answer questions, talk through options, and help you figure out what might work for you. 💚

Looking to start a capsule wardrobe or change your style?

If any lovely ladies wanna refresh their wardrobe or try out new styles without spending hundreds?? I've got a handful of semi-curated (like feminine/floral and staples/normcore type of curated) clothing lots w/25-35 pieces for a crazy low price of $55!! Everything was sourced for resale over the summer but i didnt get it all listed. And absolutely nothing is from shein or the like. Mostly vintage early 2000s and late 90s really but some modern too, like show me your mumu and anthro brands. Due to life being life, im shuttin down my posh and depop. Theres crazy profit potential if you have a depop or poshmark or vinted or mercari...but also great for your personal closets! I hope this is allowed and please excuse if not. Thanks ladies! Dm if you're interested!
