I was a few feet away from being hit by a car an hour ago at DTW. A man drove his vehicle through the doors near International Bag Check T McNamara Airport.
I'm glad to be alive.

Good job by Delta for standing up against this nonsense!

So the government just changed the DOT rules. No more food and hotel vouchers again. Even for mechanical issues. I hope you trump voters are happy.

Flying out of LGA this morning and the gate lice were... extreme. GA announces that the flight's packed and everyone should check their zone designation carefully before boarding - b/c anyone coming through the line ahead of their zone would be automatically volunteering to check their bags. Wow did that crowd melt backwards. Made a point of telling her how much I appreciated her creativity - nice way to start the day.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian tells Richard Quest that standards of behavior in the skies have fallen, and low-cost travel is partially to blame.

Delta's statement is interesting: it appears that they came up with a pretense for causing this guy to board last (however, I think everyone else boarding would have noticed the agents in the jetway.) If I see agents in a jetway, I'm going to take a picture, probably surreptitiously if possible (after all you have to look at your phone to see what seat you're in, right?)

FAA has issued an update that ANYTHING Delta provides on the ground — this is mostly aimed at pre departure generates and water bottles in D1, DPS and Domestic first class — MUST be removed prior to pushing back from the gate. Once the door closes, your crew will take to take them. Please don’t come for your flight attendants for taking your cocktail when your seat mate brought a giant Diet Coke from the terminal. That is their property not Delta service items. FAA is mandating this change, not the crew.
This is going into effect September 1.
Be kind. Don’t fight with your crew about a Sweetwater 420. You can have another one in 15 minutes when we’re up in the air. Thank you 🙏
Editing to add: thank you everyone for your comments. This is an update on enforcement. It has been the policy for 30+ years that all service items be collected, but it has loosely been enforced. Enforcement is getting stricter rather than an actual rule change. Thank you

Not to get political, but it’s nice to hear Delta is committed to their DEI programs.

SALT LAKE CITY — A North Salt Lake man whose job was to help clean airplanes at the Salt Lake City International Airport is accused of taking a $9,000 watch left behind by a passenger.
Filiki Tiaua, 26, was charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court with theft of lost property, a second-degree felony.
On Nov. 21, a man was on a Delta flight headed to Salt Lake City, "and put his Omega watch valued between $7,000 and $9,000 in his pocket during the flight. After he deplaned, he realized the watch was missing. He called the flight crew, but no one had seen the watch," according to charging documents.
Police were contacted and the serial number of the watch was put into a national database. The watch was sold to a pawn shop in North Salt Lake on Feb. 2, and police were contacted after the serial number appeared on a database.
Detectives learned that the watch was sold to the pawn shop by Tiaua's brother, who lives with Tiaua, according to the charges. Police then discovered "Tiaua works for the company that cleans the airplanes after they land in Salt Lake City" and that Tiaua "was on the list of people who cleaned the plane from which the watch went missing."
When questioned by officers, Tiaua admitted to taking the watch that he found while cleaning the plane, the charges allege.
"The airplane cleaning company has strict and clear rules on turning in lost property," a police booking affidavit states.
