Living in Atlanta. Fares to most destinations are cheaper originating from anywhere in the SE, and connecting through ATL.
Want to go to Hawaii out of ATL. That will be $2,000. Want to go to Hawaii from Orlando, connecting through ATL on that same $2,000 flight - that will be $1,500.
How is Delta holding Atlanta residents hostage not breaking antitrust laws? Seems quite obvious that they understand they have a monopoly on direct routes from their hubs and will charge a huge premium for that vs flights originating in non-hubs.
They charge more to the customer that is cheaper for them from an operations cost standpoint.

I’m a Diamond Medallion member and have flown Delta practically my entire life, but this experience has been absolutely ridiculous.
I recently flew from Atlanta to Rapid City, SD, connecting through Minneapolis, for a hunting trip. My dad and I each checked a firearm case in a proper hard case, separately and more than two hours before departure. Upon arriving in Rapid City, we discovered Delta had left BOTH gun cases in Atlanta. We had to retrieve them the following day, forcing us to change hotel plans and lose a day of hunting. When the guns arrived, my reinforced metal case had a massive crack down the side. Fortunately, the guns were fine.
I filed a damage report, bought a brand new hard case specifically designed for air travel, and discarded the old one.
On the return trip, flying the same route in reverse, my checked bag containing clothing was missing at baggage claim. Apparently, it had been left in Minneapolis and was eventually shipped to my house. I then waited an hour at oversized baggage for my new gun case, only to discover it had been absolutely destroyed. There was a massive hole in the bottom, and I could see one of my shotguns through it. I immediately filed another damage report.
Because of the zip ties placed on firearm cases at ATL, I couldn’t open the case at the airport. Once home, I discovered the shotgun had a bent barrel, the barrel had been shoved backward into the action so it couldn’t open or close, and the muzzle was warped so choke tubes could no longer be installed. The gun is unsafe to operate and effectively a total loss without extensive repairs.
Between the two destroyed gun cases, worth around $400 each, and the $2,500 shotgun, this has been an absolute nightmare. The shotgun also has significant sentimental value.
I understand baggage issues happen, but having both firearms mishandled on the outbound flight, then having my luggage delayed and a brand new gun case destroyed on the return trip, all within five days, is absurd.
Has anyone had Delta damage a firearm this severely? How did the claims process go? Did they reimburse you for the full value, or did you have to fight for it? Any advice on dealing with Delta over something like this would be greatly appreciated.
TL;DR: Delta left both our guns in Atlanta on the outbound trip, destroyed my original gun case, then delayed my luggage and destroyed my brand new gun case and a $2500 shotgun inside it on the return trip. Has anyone successfully resolved a claim like this with Delta or does anyone have advice on this?

Had an interesting battle with the Delta.com vs. phone inventory disconnect recently on an upcoming international trip to Asia.
For a few days, the website clearly showed GUC availability for Delta One, but every phone agent I spoke with insisted it wasn't available and that my only option was to waitlist. When I pressed them on why the website was showing active availability, front-line agents literally told me to "file a complaint on delta.com."
After a week of getting zero response from the online complaint form, I called back. The first agent tried the usual brush-off and said a supervisor wouldn't tell me anything different. I politely but firmly stood my ground. I told them:
To my surprise, the supervisor actually listened. They took the time to double-check the details, put me on hold to talk directly to Ticketing, and they agreed to make a one-time exception. The GUC was successfully pulled, and I'm officially confirmed in D1 now.
If you run into this exact disconnect between the web and the phone backend, don't just accept the waitlist if the site is showing active clearance. Politely stand your ground on customer loyalty and ask them to loop in ticketing to manually override - even if it's offered to you has an "exception"

I have to fly to Brazil at least once a year and was wondering if anyone who usually flies Delta has flown Aeroméxico, and has anything good or bad to say about them. Delta is just too expensive. I know Latam is less expensive but I am hoping to stay in the alliance/earn XP to qualify as platinum again on Flying Blue.

Surprised by how affordable this is. Just one way, but have some credits to use. Availability like this for many days, not just this Tuesday. I guess their Seattle to Taipei route and their LA to Hong Kong route are not doing so hot

Title. Today my Uber dropped me off at DTW at 17:08 for takeoff at 18:00 for an international flight with a domestic connection (DTW>LAX>SYD). I was at my gate, bag checked, passport checked, by 17:19. Boarding started 17:20.
I understand if you don't have sky priority, clear, touchless etc... but does anyone even get to the airport 2 hours early no less 3?
I was on a Southern California to Seattle flight just now and saw something I’ve never seen before. Two people were wearing chicken costumes with large chicken heads. I mean like clucking large—each the width of à seat. The entire three hour flight they were trying to peck each other or their seat. It was soooo absurd. I couldn’t stop looking at them even when I tried focusing on work. They were going bonkers!!! It was distracting and amusing. Maybe Halloween related?
What’s the most absurd and large costume others have seen on Delta flights?

I am on a very long flight in an Airbus 350-900 and I'm going crazy trying to find the jack for the two prong complimentary headphones. Please tell me where this is located. Explain it to me like I'm 5. Nobody I can see from my seat is watching anything so I can't figure this out by looking at anyone else.
Edit/update:::Found it. Jfc. It is basically behind me at the way back of the center arm rest, tucked way inside a little cubby. You can't see it. It faces backwards inside the front wall of the cubby behind you. You have to feel around inside that front wall the find it. Leaving this up for future people who can't find it.

They finally loaded the new D1 menu starting 11/3 out of LAX to HND. 11/1 and 11/2 have a Japanese menu listed, but after that one is not listed on menu.delta.com.
I suppose it could be a specialty menu we have to pre-select now and not listed on the menu site, but I’ll be sad if the specialty Asian menus have gone away. I always found them a fun way to try something different.
I guess I’ll find out when I get my menu sent on 11/4 unless anyone has intel on the subject.

Flying ATL > LIS next fall. Will pay for PS and use GUC for D1. Options are via JFK or BOS. I generally dislike JFK but have heard great things about the D1 Lounge while the BOS D1 lounge is smaller but still nice. Thoughts?

My husband and I will be traveling to visit family for thanksgiving and on our flight back from our trip, we only have a 38 minute layover. I am currently pregnant and high risk due to incompetent cervix and on bed rest. My dr cleared us to do this trip, so I’m wondering what kind of accommodations I’m eligible for to not have to sprint to our next gate. Is there a way to get a seat closer to the exit door of the plane or be let off the plane quicker?

I have flown on Delta flights 8 times in the past 2 months and I’ve noticed a difficult pattern. Of those 8 flights, I’ve been seated beside a larger passenger for 6 of them.
To be clear: I am not the person who wants to shame or insult anyone’s body, especially not on a flight where we’re all uncomfortable and packed in like sardines. BUT I am struggling with the fact that there seems to be little done at the policy level to ensure comfort in these situations.
On my most recent flight, I was in an aisle with a larger passenger in the middle. They encroached completely into my space to the point where my entire shoulder and one of my legs HAD to go in the aisle. Every time a FA walked by, she admonished me and told me to stay out of the aisle. I didn’t want to embarrass the person beside me by pointing to them, but it was CLEAR that they were taking a good portion of my space. There was literally nowhere else for me to go. I was embarrassed every time this FA acted like I was the problem in the situation.
This was (as I mentioned) the 6th occurrence like this in two months time. I am a relatively average-sized person in weight and height, and I am consistently forced to sacrifice my seating space for a passenger who exceeds their seating space. One instance was so bad that I couldn’t even lower my tray table because their legs blocked me. I’ve seen the FAs notice this, but it just seems like nothing can ever be done because delta wants to charge a premium for any seats with extra space and these people beside me are unwilling/unable to pay for those.
I miss the days when flights consistently had empty seats and larger passengers could be accommodated around these.
I don’t blame the FAs or the other passengers themselves, but I’m frustrated and burnt out after having 6 out of 8 flights go this way. No one is comfortable on planes, but I’m beyond tired of spending $700+ on a domestic trip only to be cramped, squished, and folded in my own seat because someone beside me exceeds the space of theirs. I don’t care who’s to blame—it’s not about that. I just want to see a solution. It looks like the only way around this is to pay an extra $300+ per flight for comfort plus. I’m not in a place where I can pay over $1k for flights 4x per month, and so I just wish something else could be done here.
Wondering if anyone has found tactful ways to avoid these issues or if this is just the price we pay for airlines making seats smaller and smaller in an era where a good portion of the population is oversized.

I booked a flight recently and ended up checking the seat map again later, just to see if anything had opened up. Somehow there were a couple of better seats available that weren't there when I first booked.
It's such a small thing, but getting a better seat without paying extra feels like a little win, especially on a longer flight.
I know it depends on the route, fare, and status, so it's definitely not something you can count on.
Has anyone here actually managed to snag a noticeably better seat just by checking back before their flight? Curious how often that happens for other people.

I am in analysis paralysis..
I am trying to decide on my choice benefits and am stuck. I fly internationally 2-5 times yearly, same for domestic. I often will do classic economy and then upgrade if the pricing is decent. I would obviously prefer to be premium but it's not necessarily a big thing for me if the flights aren't that long. Regardless, my analysis paralysis is from trying to choose the choice benefits that seem the most beneficial for me. And yes, I am new to platinum.
The three that I'm looking at are the ruc's, the $350 travel voucher or the $250 statement credit or the $1000 MQD accelerator.. as the rest don't seem that big of a deal to me. I have a Delta Reserve that I pretty much put everything on now as well, and work has me traveling a lot by car as well.
I'm curious if others input on these options or how it applied for similar situations to them. Any help would be appreciated because I think I'm cycling in my own head too much. I'm just trying to get the most value out of the options. ( and I really don't think that I will hit diamond by December 31st)

Cries in platinum at ATL, 8 of 42 🤣😭 TBH Comfort + is nice on this one.

It’s been a little over a year since I last flew anywhere until the past month when I had an international and a domestic flight. In the past, I’ve almost always seen the option in the delta app to upgrade my main cabin seat to either C+ or FC for some dollar amount or miles, per ticket. But recently, I haven’t seen this option. Does it not exist anymore?
r/delta • u/Conventions • 15h ago
First time flying Delta. When checking in I was offered to check our carry on bags for free due to it being a full flight. I selected the option and checked in but now I do not see it anywhere else on the app or showing as me having bags.
Also, is it possible to add my passenger’s carry-on to the free check in after the fact?

Was sitting in “first class” from MSP to SEA and this was the state of the airplane. This is disgusting. Just try a little bit, Delta. Please.

Delta reminding me I am traveling on Election Day. Don’t forget to Vote! 🗳️

I need 114 MQDs for status after my flight this weekend. Upgrading to Comfort for both legs will only give me $102. An extra bag won’t count. Neither will a box meal or drinks. I really don’t want to spend $300 to upgrade to First. How can I earn a dozen MQDs?

The last time I was at MIA, I looked around the ticket counter by the concourse H entrance and saw plenty of kiosks that could print bag tags, but none that would print boarding passes. Did I miss them? Or do we have to stand in line and get them printed at the counter?

Waiting to come in to the plane they immediately went beyond their service and they actually allowed my wheelchair to fit inside the closet in the cabin . I love Delta ! Is amazing. I’m so happy to be here. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Being in a wheelchair is so scary in such a big airport like Atlanta . 4th flight ✈️ ✔️keeping it positive. I will update in 5 hours . 🥰

Flying can be an adventure, but sometimes the airline experience raises more questions than answers. From changes that leave regular travelers feeling overlooked to questionable meal choices and flight details that sound like they belong in a sci-fi movie, Delta always gives passengers something to talk about. ✈️
What’s your most memorable Delta experience recently, and what’s one thing you wish the airline would improve?
