Referencing / Academic Integrity / Turnitin end-of-unit exam

Hi guys, I'm now really scared because i did my exam which is invigilated 2-hour exam using proctorio. And that I didn't know my open-book exam banned using google browsing because I thought we can do research as like doing essay normally. But when I do my exam I also cited and there were 5 questions, until did I finish to question 2 that I realized maybe this is not allowed so I stopped using google to research. I think I may have cheated based on academic breach so anyone with the experience with it, can you help me with this and how can I deal with it because this is my first trimester here so I'm so confused with this open-book exam. Thank you!

Did it specifically ban browsing or did the notes say it’s not recommended due to time constraints

All the notes of mine was google research was not recommended because students may run out of time bla bla bla

If the exam stated that Google isn't allowed then it isn't allowed. Contact your unit chair and explain your confusion and ask to resit. Don't wait until you are caught, as there will be less sympathy than if you own up right now and explain.

If you aren’t reading exam information thoroughly let this be the lesson you take into future units to read information thoroughly. The university are red hot on academic integrity breaches so if you fail to read the information that won’t beca defense.

but by any chance i can ask them for a mitigating outcomes instead of standard which is a 0 on this assessment because it’s like 2 parts of a question not that i used google for every question

The exam information would have made it very clear whether or not googling is allowed. Did you read the exam information? They would have also emphasised that point in class or during your exam revision classes. They may review your video, and deduct marks on the questions where you did search, but the consequences would be up to the unit chair, if googling was not allowed.
